Is Offering Seats Compulsory for Y oung Bus Riders?

Nowadays, whether it should become compulsory for young bus riders to conduct good deed on bus, like offering their seats to needy passengers, has become a topic of debate.

Some people believe that it is just good basic manners that young people offer their seats to the elderly, the pregnant and the so-called “weak” groups. It is nothing but maintenance of high moral standard. However, other people stand on a different ground. They say young bus riders pay the same fare as other passengers, and therefore have no obligation to give up their seats. It is in nature a legal issue rather than a moral behavior.

As far as I am concerned, I think such good deeds as offering seats on bus to needy people is truly necessary, but the precondition is that one does this out of true willingness. Only when good deeds are based on good will are the good deeds meaningful.

Low-carbon Economy

Low-carbon economy has become a widely spread term in the past few years. In fact, low-carbon economy was put forward against the background of global warming tendency, which is challenging human survival and development. Food Safety

While the year 2008 witnessed the great joy of Olympic Games, for thousands of babies and their parents, their year 2008 was a nightmare.

Over the past couple of years, several cases of the food scandal have been disclosed on various media. The problem of food safety has become a hot button across society.

Due to the tainted milk, many babies were suffering from kidney stone, and some infants even died. This case, however, is only the latest food safety problem.

There are a couple of driving forces, I would argue, behind this undesirable tide. First, in the course of the rapid economic evolution, we ignore moral education, giving rise to the rising rate of the problem. More importantly, the lack of adequate regulation and punishment on those illegal producers enforces the trend.

Because people can’t live without food and drink, insecure food results in not only direct health problems, but also other indirect consequences. Firstly, when a product is discovered to be unsafe or contaminated, people will have lingering fears in a large scale. Secondly, take Sanlu scandal for instance, when the scandal was publicized, the company only reaped its bankruptcy. In a sense, food safety problem is harmful to the national economy and can affect social stability.

In my opinion, prompt and strict measures should be taken to turn back this evil trend. On the one hand, the government should launch a massive moral campaign to educate all citizens and draw up tougher laws to crack down on those irresponsible corporations. On the other hand, food company leaders should not be blind in pursuit of short-term profit through adulteration and other illegal means. I am firmly convinced that through our combined efforts we are bound to enjoy more risk-free foods in the days ahead.
