The impression of A Little Princess and Little Women

A Little Princess is a touching novel written by Frances Hodgson Burnett—a famous novelist and dramatist. It obviously contains lots of fancied plots, but the parts it talks about creating miracles, can really reach the bottom of my heart. The book can bring me into a world that is more than reality while reading it. The extraordinary story makes me ponder a lot and gives me a deep impression that every girl can be a princess.

After reading this outstanding book, I was shocked by Sara, a little girl who suffered such unimaginable pain and tortures, but still had an opposite attitude towards life. What impresses me most is that Sara put on her act of being a princess when she wore thin bottom shoes, wading in the street of London. From my point of view, her spirit of being so strong-minded when she was in hard times is worth admiring.

Every girl can be a princess if she can do all I mentioned, no matter she is rich, beautiful or not. To speak truthfully, I cannot do as well as Sara. However, I will exert myself on being a princess mentally.

The story of a little princess reminds me a book I read many years ago, called little women. Thestory of little women also impressed me and makes me think a lot.

Little Women is a "coming of age" drama tracing the lives of four sisters: Meg, Jo, Beth and Amy. During the American Civil War, the girls father is away serving as a minister to the troops. The family, headed by thier beloved Marmee, must struggle to make ends meet, with the help of their kind and wealthy neighbor, Mr. Laurence, and

his high spirited grandson Laurie.

This book all begins in the dead of winter; The Christmas Season. The coldest one of all, were the war has made fuel for heating very scarce. While her husband is off at war, Marmee is left alone to raise their four daughters: Jo, Meg, Beth, and Amy.

One of the prominent themes in Little Women is the coming of age or maturation of the girls. During the course of the novel we see them grow in many ways -- physically, intellectually, and especially emotionally. One question which readers must ask themselves is whether the views the characters have on the coming of age process are shared by Alcott. If they aren't, what are Alcott's views and how do they differ from those of the women in her story?

It is interesting to examine the last half of Chapter 20, "Confidential." Jo addresses the maturation issue as she speaks with Marmee of the situation between Meg and Mr. Brooke. The possible love between these two represents one of the very important aspects in coming of age for a teenage girl. Jo treats this natural process as if it were some sort of disease, however. Jo cannot understand why Meg would want to stop behaving "like a sensible creature" , and refers to love as "such nonsense."

After reading this two books, I found that I’m really interested in those kind of story, I think I’ll read a lot more in my free time.

The impression of Camille

I read the Camille recently ,I was deeply moved by the main character Marguerite Gautier. “Camille” or “The Lady of the Camellias” by Alexandre Dumas, fils, is the story of Marguerite Gautier, a young courtesan, or kept woman, in Paris in the mid 1800's, and how she falls in love with a young man, Armand Duval, and then tries to escape from her questionable past. Unfortunately, it comes back to haunt her and she ends up returning to that life and dies painfully and alone, but with the knowledge that she was a noble woman at heart.

after reading this book, a sentence always stay in my head, “Wo men are like the flowers”. Those pretty women are like those beautiful flowers; their delicate beauty makes people feel they are the miracle of life. However, even the God envies their beauty. It seems that beautiful women always have tragic endings. As we are normal persons, even we can see the hideousness of humanity that results in their fate of withering, we can at most ask quietly in our hearts: Where have those beautiful flowers gone? Where have they gone?

The impression of Gulliver's Travels

Gulliver’s Travels recounts the story of Lemuel Gulliver, a practical-minded Englishman trained as a surgeon who takes to the seas when his business fails. In a deadpan first-person narrative that rarely shows any signs of self-reflection or deep emotional response, Gulliver narrates the adventures that befall him on these travels.

One of the most interesting questions about Gullivers Travels is whether the Houyhnhnms represent an ideal of rationality or whether on the other hand they are the butt of Swift's satire. In other words, in Book IV, is Swift poking fun at the talking horses or does he intend for us to take them seriously as the proper way to act? If we look closely at the way that the Houyhnhnms act, we can see that in fact Swift does not take them seriously: he uses them to show the dangers of pride.

When bending my eyes downward as much as I could, I perceived a human not six inches high!"

A final indication that the Houyhnmns are not meant to be taken seriously occurs when the leader of the Houynhms visits Lilliput, where he visits the French Royal Society. He goes into a room in which a scientist is trying to turn wine into water (itself a prideful act that refers to the marriage at Gallilee). The scientist has been working hard at the experiment for many years without success, when the Houyhnmn arrives and immediately knows that to do: "The creature no sooner stepped through the doorway than he struck upon a plan. Slurping up all the wine in sight, he quickly made water in a bucket that sat near the door" .

The impression of Pride and Prejudice

Pride and Prejudice is the most enduringly popular novel written by Jane Austen.

Many people simply regard Pride and Prejudice as a love story, but in my opinion, this book is an illustration of the society at that time. She perfectly reflected the relation between money and marriage at her time and gave the people in her works vivid characters.

The first sentence in this book is impressive. It reads: “It is a truth well known to all the world that an unmarried man in possession of a large fortune must be in need of a wife”. The undertone is very clear: the foundation of the marr iage at that time is not emotion but possession.

People always think that Austen was an expert at telling love stories. In fact, the marriage in her book is not the result of love, but the result of economic needs. After reading this book, I know the truth is that a poor woman must be in need of a husband, a wealthy man.

Austen left this problem for us to think. The genius of Jane Austen lies in

this perfect simplicity, the simplicity that reflects big problems. Although Austen was only 21 when she wrote “Pride and Prejudice”, her sharp observation of social lives makes the style of this book surprisingly mature and lively. The plots in her works are always very natural. The development of the plot is as inevitable as a problem in mathematics. I think the depth of Pride and Prejudice is the reason that makes this book prominent and classic. Today, her book still can be the guide telling us the economic relationships both at her time and in modern time.

The impression of The Adventures Of Tom Sawyer

The Adventures of Tom Sawyer is a literary masterpieces, written in 1876 by the famous author Mark Twain. Tom Sawyer is a mischievous young boy who lives in the small town on the Mississippi River called St. Petersburg. The story line is simple, the book reads like a biography or a memoir of a summer in Tom Sawyer's life.

Tom Sawyer seems to be the precursor of and the template for misfit kids such as Dennis the Menace, Malcolm in the Middle, and Calvin and Hobbs. What makes this story great is that Tom Sawyer represents everything that is great about childhood. The book is filled with Tom's adventures playing pirates and war with his friend Joe Harper. Tom has a trusted friend, Huck Finn, who few of the adults approve of. The book is filled with ideas of how the world works, such as how pirates and robbers work, that are so innocent, they could only come from a child. It is a story filled with action, adventure, ingenious ideas, love, and schoolyard politics. The

whole story is seemingly a complication of what people did or wish they did during their childhood.

The book is a little difficult to read at first. Personally, it takes me a little while to get used to the 19th century dialect in the book. Other than referring to persons of African decent in derogatory terms (which I'm sure uses terms even young children already know), the book would be an enjoyable read for people of all ages. I highly recommend this book for anyone looking to feel young again, if just for a few hundred pages.

The ImpressionOfLes Miserable

Les Miserable is a world famous novel written by Victor Hugo, the French Romantic writer, whothough regarded in France as one of that country's greatest poets, is better known abroad for such novels as Notre-Dame de Paris and Les Miserable.

Les Miserable tells a story that Ran Arang had suffered from 19 years dark time in the jail for he stole some bread due to his excessive starvation. After his release from prison, the Discrimination and Ignoring of other people made hedespair. However, miraculously, a kind bishop changed his life by his warm heart. And after that, when Ran Arang full in love with Esmeralda , though this love has been very tough, his life was totally different.

After reading this book, I’ve been impressed by Mr. H ugo’s vivid writing of the tragic fate the poor people has and the cruel exploitation of the capitalism. What’s also

impressed me is the hoping of changing this miserable world by fraternity, kindness, kindhearted and forgiveness.

Fraternity is a treasure of human beings. Everyone has love, but the majority of people just love themselves, their family and the things they owned. However, Ran Arang’s love is more than that, the poor, the wretch, the compassionate people, the respectable people, all he loves. This kind of love called fraternity.

The noble soul is for every great man which Tan Arang is. Covered by the ugly appearance is a great kind heart, which is especially ironically contrasted with the dark corrupt society. Though the plot that Ran Arang risked his life many times for ainjured stranger, I’m impressed by Ran Arang’s incredible courage and his noble soul.

The society needs heroes, especially the dark hideous one. Seeing the selfishly, materialistic, apathetic behavior surround us is not an excuse to behave like that. Insist,it’s the high time to stand out and be a hero. As the new era college students, what to do is some thing we should think about.

Love is a great thing which could change the world into beautiful and peace, don’t be timid, just give your love, the world will reward you.

The Impression Of Jane Eyre

The reason why I’m so enjoyed about reading Jane Eyre is that when I just read half of it, I was already impressed by the determination and the great sprite normal people hardly have of Jane Eyre.

Jane Eyre had a tough childhood since her parents passed away and she get to treated badly by her uncle and cousins who adapt her. After grown up, Jane Eyre went to Sandfield estate to be a tutor to make a independent and free life.

She fall in love with the hold of the estate and had been through some hard time and finally have a happy ending.

I think, though a person’s beauty on the face can make others once feel that one is attractive and charming, if his or her mind isn’t the same beautiful as the appearance, the beautiful face is nothing.

The story of Jane Eyre makes us thinking about life and we learn much from her experience, at least, that is a fresh new recognition of the real beauty.

Sophie Marceau is exquisite as the distressed princeIsabella of France who ends up falling in love with Wallace, warning him out of several traps……Catherine McCormack is a stunning beauty who ignites Wallace's revolution……Patrick McGoohan is chilling, brutal, and vicious as the ruthleEdward I, known by the nickname 'Longshanks.' This king remains simply the embodiment of evil……While Angus McFadyen moves as a nobleman torn between his conscience and political aspiration, and Brendan Gleeson brings strength and humor to his role as the robust Hamish, David O'Hara is very effective as the crazy Irishman who provides much of the film's comic relief from even the most tensed moments……Mel Gibson has reason to be proud of 'Braveheart.' It is a motion picture that dares to be excessive… Gibson presents passionately the most spaciously impressive battles (yet staged for films)even excessively, and it is his passion and excethat make the motion picture great… The horror and futility of massed hand-to-hand combats are exciting rather repulsive… It is epic film-ma-ki-ng at its glorious best……Gibson's 'Braveheart' focuses on the human side of Wallace, a character so immense, so intelligent, and so passionate, exploring the definitions of honor and nobility, pushing us to follow the hero into his struggle against injustice and oppression. 阿甘正传英文观后感(二)

At that time I was deeply moved by the main character Marguerite Gautier.
