What is a great book There is no end to the making of books. Nor does there seem to be any end to the making lists of great books. There has always be more books than one could read. You can be happy at the fact that the number of that is relatively small.
However,today,people usually leave it in the library. According to the national reading survey issued by The China Academy of Press and Publication, in XX, only 55% Chinese aged between18 and 70 book read books .That is to say, there are more than forty percent of the people seldom read in China.
It is a great challenge to literature. As a educated student,have you insist on reading great books. In order to change the situation ,we must take actions to read great books.
In Adler’s essay of What is A Great Book, he explain why we should read great books. I conclude it as follows.
First,great books are the most readable. They will not let you down ,if you read them well. The have more
ideas per page than most books in the their entirety. This is why you can read a great book over and over again and never exhaust it contents.
Second ,great books are always contemporary,in contrast to the books we called contemporary,because they are currently popular ,last for a year or tow,or ten at most. You may probably can not recall the names of many earlier best sellers,and you may probably would not be interest in reading them. But the great are never out modeled by the movement of thought or the shifting winds of opinion .
Third ,great books are the most instructive. This follows the fact that they are original communications. They contain what cannot be found in other books. Whether you ultimately agree or disagree what they say. They are the primary teachers of mankind. They have made basic contribution to human right .
Just giving you the reason is not enough, I will give you some methods to realize you reading dream.
Firstly,you can begin with a interesting novel. You will be attracted by the figures,the plots .Than ,after reading a lot of books ,you may be get into a habit
of reading. So,you can contact with some complex books,such as philosophy ,arts and so on. You will be shocked at the new world.
There are countless great books in our library,you must make great advantage of it. Of course ,it is a better choice to buy great books. Collecting books is a enjoyable thing,at least for me. So,reading great books. The new world is coming.

good afternoon everyone. today i will introduce a famous band to you, i think you kown the band-beyond. beyond is a famous rock band in hong kong that was founded in 1983. they have always identified with the people of hong kong, as reflected in their songs about social issues, pursuit of dreams, politics, and peace. wong ka kuis 海阔天空 (boundless oceans vast skies) & 光辉岁月(glorious years) are two of their best known works beyond were initially part of the band boom which occurred in hong kong in the 1980s, alongside other groups. after couple of flops, beyond started to gain popular following the release of the song dai dei(great land). fellow underground musicians started to accuse beyond of abandoning the rock and roll genre of music, gravitating towards pop. beyond was unfazed and the few next albums saw several of the most important songs in the history of hong kong music. . one of the songs, glorious age (chinese: 光辉岁月), is about racism and the struggle of nelson mandela in south africa. the song, at the time, was a fresh breath of air in the midst of sweet love songs that were dominating the hong kong music scene.most of his songs are about dreams、freedom、 and constant struggle. in june 1993, wong ka kui sustained massive head injuries after falling from a broken stage on a fuji television game show 关于朋友的英语演讲稿 hello,everyone. good afternoon. thank you for giving me this opportunity to talk about my top concern. im no.26, ill talk about friend. everyone of us,rich or poor,should at least have one or two good friends. my friend will listen to me when i want to speak, will help me when i need,will take care of me when i am sick,and my friends will go together with me side by side through this journey of life. when i was ten, i was suddenly confronted with the anguish of transferring to other school. i had to left my friends i had ever known. as a kid,i feel lonely when i study in a new environment without a person i had known. nobody i could talk,nobody could know when i feel lonely. the time when i couldnt sleep, ill always miss them, then the tears filled my eyes. later, i became familar with the environment ,and made some friends ,which became my best friends then. they talked with me when i felt lonely, they helped me when i needed, they took care of me when i was sick. even through we were part, we still keep in touch with each other. they work hard in order to gain a higher position in the society and to earn more money for their work. they have few time to share with their friends. with the time goes by, they will be far away from each other. friend is kind of treasure in our lives. its actually like a bottle of wine, the longer it is kept, the sweeter it will be. it also likes a cup of hot tea, when we are in bed time, it will warm our broken hearts. friends,especially best friends. it is what we should have in our lives,and it can make our lives be colorful go beyond our imagination. thanks for your listening. this is what i concerned.
