Through the years, couple John and Monique Black had met many kids who needed help. Monique had had a history with horses and with young people. John had worked with children in trouble.

Because of Monique's difficult childhood, she knew that horses could bring a hand. For years, Monique had dreamed of working with “broken horses and hurting children together”. Then in 2010, the Blacks founded Mercy Spring Ranch(MSR) in California.
