I loved English class a lot, because it was very vivid and a lot of fun. I also enjoyed summer ball there very year. I remember I always dressed up and got very excited. It was time when I could met senior pupils there. Jim was a very handsome boy who was 2 years older than me, and I met him in the summer ball when I was in Grade 3.

However, there were too much exams and I really hated that. I mean, I always felt very pressured due to tons of

homework every night.

The restaurant was beautiful, with long tables, candles and flowers.

My family gave me a huge bunch of flowers and some cards and special gifts.

I spent all afternoon at the restaurant, talking, eating and laughing.

My favorite fast food restaurant

I?m going to talk about my favorite fast food restaurant in Qingdao. It?s called New Oriental Restaurant, which is specialize in noodles.

It?s in our neighborhood, quite close actually, withi n 10-minute walking distance.

There is a big collection of noodles there. You can offer Chinese noodles, Muslim noodles, Korean cold noodles or even Italian pasta.

I love the restaurant a lot also because the price there is extremely low. Usually with 1 Euro, you can have a set of very delicious lunch with noodles,

a salad and a soup. I remember last weekend, I celebrated my birthday with my roommates there. We ordered 5 different kinds of noodles plus 6 bottles of beer, and it was only 7 Euros totally. Unbelievable, isn?t it?!

Another reason I love to hang out there is because I enjoy the well-round services there very much. I mean the waiters are quite friendly and polite. They even bow when guests leave the restaurant.

However what appeals to me the most there is the decorations there. The setting is quite clean and simple actually, with long tables, candles and color-paintings on the wall. I find it?s the best place to relax in my spare time.

Unit 10 Transport

I like playing basketball a lot, so I can keep fit and make friends.

Describe the public transport system in your city.

Well, I have lived in Beijing for 8 years, and I would like to talk about the public transport system there. There are various kinds of transports there, from bikes to buses, from subways to taxis.

Well, I think subway is absolutely the most popular and efficient public transport in the city, because it?s cheap and convenient, and most important is there?s never traffic jam or traffic diversion for subway trains. When I was in Beijing, I took it every day to work. It?s only 3 kuai to go anywhere of the city after the Olympic games in 2008, and it took only 15 minutes for 5 stops. Thanks to the a dvanced underground public transport system, I?ve never been late for work in 3 years.

Another one that?s worth mentioning is bus, but for quite the opposite reasons. I have so many complaints about it. First, the buses are quite old, so a bus trip in Beijing can be really bumpy and tiring. Second, the bus service is terrible. The drivers always yell to the passengers, and during rush hours they even push people out of the bus. It was horrible. That?s why bus was always the last choice when I went out.

Well, besides subway, I took taxi a lot in Beijing, too. The taxi fee was not low compared to other major cities, but it?s really fast. And sometimes when there?s a dust storm尘暴or blizzard暴风雪, it?s the only possible way. I still remember vividly that it was raining cats and dogs on my graduation ceremony, and I was wearing a gown. Really not my day that day, because all the bus stops were full of people and even subway entrances were stuffed. Luckily I got to take a taxi, so I still got a chance to calm down and even make up. Thanks to the taxi, I made it to the graduation ceremony, and had a good time at the ball.

So, that?s pretty much I want to say about the transport situat ion in Beijing.

If…will…

If the bus companies can organize all the buses better, they can run on time.

If the government can lower the public transport? fee, maybe more people are willing to use it.

If the government can lower the public transport? fee. maybe more people are willing to use it.

If the government can replace the old vehicles with more environmentally-friendly ones, there?ll be less pollution.

If certain laws or regulations are made to restrict traffic noise, maybe drivers can pay more attention to this.

How can education be reformed to meet future challenges?

What measures should be taken to reduce crime?

What doo you think we should do to protect the environment?

If everyone can realize how important the environment is for us, maybe they can protect the environment better.

How to preserve our history better?

If the government can protect old buildings better but not t earing them down, I?m sure we can preserve our history

better.

Unit 7 Advertising

Describe an advertisement that you have seen/ heard recently.

A grea t ad I?ve seen recently is the one for head & shoulder …s new shampoo. I know it?s not a very luxury product, but the ad real ly caught my attention,

and I suppose shampoo is fairly useful daily life product ---- it?s just not something you think about all the time.

Anyway, I?ve seen it quite a few times lately ---- you can see it on P&G?s website every time you visit it.

I don?t usually pay much attention to those online ads. In fact, I generally close the window if they pop out, because I can?t stand them---- they?re just everywhere!

But this one is different because unlike other fancy shampoo ads, the new head & shoulder one is very simple and creative. The main character is a young guy sitting in an empty baseball court after the game, wondering why those cheerleaders always jump and yell and ask everyone to spell out the words. It?s simply a 30-second monologue, but very amusing.

Contractions

I can?t stand radio ads. They?re just too noisy and cheesy.

This toy advert doesn?t target children, but adults.

There?re a lot of world-famous football players on Pepsi TV advertisement.

I guess I won?t forget the ad for a while, …coz it?s just too distinctive.

It isn?t original. It?s a copy of a foreign auto ad.

They?ve put out tons of posters in t own for that drama.

What do you think about…?

In my opinion, advertising can mislead children a lot, because I think it?s very hard for them to tell right from wrong.

Oh, absolutely. I strongly believe some companies are just spending too much money on advertising.

Well, it?s hard to say. I guess in general yes. But there are some newspaper persons like me, who never watch TV. I suppose i n that case, TV ads will have very little influence.

In my opinion, the one-child policy is reasonable, because I believe unlike some western countries, China needs to control its population. Honestly, I think it?s getting a more and more serious problem. However I don?t think it should be a very hard issue if we wo rk together.

I guess it?s still okay compared with that in lots of other cities. I feel the public transport is very convenient. But, as far as I?m concerned, the service of taxi drivers is just awful!

Personally I don?t think it?s a bad thing. I mean I do believe it?s a good way for students to increase awa reness of the school, and stop keeping up with the Johns.

Unit 12 Leisure Activities

Four Questions for Part 1

My full name is Guo Min, but my friends all call me Angela.

I am loaded with a lot of work at the moment, so I have to say leisure time is quite luxury to me.

I like to watch DVDs at night, and I also love to go window shopping with my friends once in a while.

I think that people should have more free time, because I feel stressful work and study have taken up too much of their time annd they really need more leisure time to get refreshed in order to keep a balanced life.

P97 Example For Part 2

举例子

You can … share all sorts of stuff: photos, music, videos gossip, join groups… anything really!

My graduation ceremony was actually a big family reunion. I mean my parents, uncles, aunts cousins, even my 2-year-old nephew all managed to come to join in the big event.

Thanks to TV news, radio programs, newspaper, and of course internet, now we can always get updated with what?s going on at h ome and abroad.

I guess one of my favorite leisure activities is posting on Xiaonei, which is a Chinese website.

You can use it anywhere, well anywhere where you have the Internet.

The most unforgettable event in my life would be my first date, which has brought me so many sweet memories.

Qingdao is a well-known seaside resort in China, which has appealed to so many tourists every year.

Part 2: Describe your favorite leisure activity.

Well, I have to admit I?m a workholic, and hardly have leisure time. But if I do, I always go to pubs and hang out with my fr iends there after work, sometimes on weekends too, mainly for two reasons.

First, I?m fond of beer and I?m crazy about Latin music. There is a very popular pub called Le Bang downtown, and I always go have a cup of drink and chew the chat with my friends. Plus the soothing melody really helps me to relieve stress and get refreshed. However, unlike a lot of other people, I never go flirt with strangers.

Another reason to be considered is, I can?t get enough of the Karaoke in pubs. I almost go there every week. Guess I?m gettin g addicted to it. My friends all say I?m a born singer, and I just love the feeling of being under the spotlight.

So, hitting pubs really jazzes up my life, and I take it as the best way to relax from stressful work!

Part 3比较

What?s the difference between Wester n and Chinese culture?

Please compare traditional food and fast food.

How do the younger and older generation in China differ?

Why do you think adults have different ways of making friends from children?

How have the types of leisure activities changed in your country over the last fifty years?

Why do you think the older generation enjoys different leisure activities to the younger generation?

It seems to me that people used to visited each other a lot and chat face to face. However, nowadays people go out a lot less and tend to communicate over e-mails or msn. Internet does bring a lot of convenience to our life, yet also causes great social problems.

A few years ago, most people listened to CDs, but these days, they tend to listen to music online, or even to a live concert.

Twenty years ago, people went shopping at grocery stores. However today more and more people choose to shop online or at big malls.

Before, Chinese used to go to the cinema for date, which was quite luxury for them, while nowadays, the number of people watching DVDs at home is growing fast.

推测原因句型: could would might may

Why do you think Chinese have higher life expectancy than before?

I don?t know for sure but their food might have a lot to do with it. Nowadays Chinese people have a better awareness of healt hy diet. They tend to eat less meat and more fresh fruits and vegetables.

Besides, exercise could also be a factor. I mean Chinese people used to spend too much time on TV or Majiang. However now an increasing number of people are willing to work out in the gym or do more outdoor activities.

Advanced health care might also be the reason for their longevity. Minor disease, like flu or sport injuries can be easily cured nowadays.

Warm-Up

1. Well, let me see. I remember I get my first mobile phone on my 18th birthday from my parents. So I guess I have used mobile phone for about 10 years. Wow, I didn?t expect it would be so long.

3. I use it for almost everything, from texting messaging to talking with friends, from taking photos to listening to music. Next year I plan to buy an Apple mobile phone from Hong Kong, and at that time I can even transact e-mails with it. How cool is it!

4. Well, it depends. On weekdays I have to use laptop a lot, because it?s portable, and I can take it anywhere. 5/7. I use laptop for everything, literally. I use it for work-processing, graphics and e-mails at work. And I also chat with my friends abroad with MSN and watch movies and listen to music online after work. I have to admit that laptop/internet has already penetrated into every corner of my life. I cannot imagine how my life would be without it!

8. Well, personally I prefer to communicate with my friends and family face to face, if possible. The work there was very stressful, yet I still managed to explore the city a lot, and make the best out of it

So I suppose I should commence with the first aspect which is who the person is, and I’d probably select Jack Ma, the current director of https://www.360docs.net/doc/4811737965.html,. Regarding the theme of what makes him successful, and the thing that needs to be highlighted here is that his success should mostly be attributed to some priceless qualities he possesses such as entrepreneurship, leadership and the courage to take risks. This also explains the reason why I admire him, you know, he is a successful entrepreneur who started from the scratch. When he set up his company, all he had was a budget of 50,000 Yuan and merely 5 staff.Hard as the condition was, he managed to lead his team to achieve business success one after another just like the King Midas. To cut a long story short, as my very last point, with reference to the question of whether he has influenced me, I have to say so deeply has his legendary story influenced me that I have made up my mind to set up my own company after I graduate following his steps.

How often do you go to the cinema? Definitely, watching movies is my cup of tea. You know, I'm always busy in studying. But I will go to the cinema as often as possible, maybe once every other week because it is one of my favourite ways to relax. I believe films are a wonderful form of art. Many of my friends have the same habit, so we always go to Wanda International Cinema on weekends together, which I think is the best cinema in Beijing. Why do you like to watch films? Firstly, I think watching films is a good way to relax. You know, when watching a film, I will throw all of my emotion to the story so that I can forget nearly everything about myself, especially the troubles. Also, I can learn many things from the roles in films, for example, I learned how to join forces to fight again devil from my favourite movie . Do you like to watch films in the cinema or at home? I prefer watching films in the cinema, absolutely. You know, the atmosphere and the sound effect are prefect in the cinema, which you cannot feel at home, facing a small screen, especially for scientific and horror. So you can understand the story and the roles' emotion better, also you are able to learn more from the films. What kind of films do you like? I love fancy film the most. They are full of magic, imagination and creativity. I believe only imagination can make our real life more colorful. My favorite movie is , which is typical of this kind of movies. I admire J.K.Rowling, the producer of it; I really wonder how those wonderful ideas came from her head! Who is your favorite movie star? My favorite movie star is Yang Ziqiong, who is very famous not only in China but also in Hollywood. She is one of the earliest actresses accepted by Hollywood and became popular in the world. She's good at martial arts. She's not very beautiful but her kongfu is really amazing, quick, clear-cut and powerful. I think she's the proud of China, not only for her position in Hollywood, but also because she spread Chinese traditional kongfu in the world. What's the difference between American films and Chinese films? I think the biggest difference lies in the purpose of the film, result from the level of freedom. You know, most of Chinese films just describe an ordinary story and focus on teaching the audience some principles, because the government controls the contents of films stringently. But because of freedom, the purpose of most American films is to give audience an impressive shock, and then earn enormous profits.

Lexical Resource 1. Accurateness 2. Authentic vocabulary 3. Reading makes a full man writing makes an exact man

。。 Questions 25-28 What is a dinosaur? A. Although the name dinosaur is derived from the Greek for “terrible lizard”, dinosaurs were not, in fact, lizards at all. Like lizards, dinosaurs are included in the class Reptilia, or reptiles, one of the five main classes of Vertebrata, animals with backbones. However, at the next level of classification, within reptiles, significant differences in the skeletal anatomy of lizards and dinosaurs have led scientists to place these groups of animals into two different superorders: Lepidosauria, or lepidosaurs, and Archosauria, or archosaurs. B. Classified as lepidosaurs are lizards and snakes and their prehistoric ancestors. Included among the archosaurs, or “ruling reptiles”, are prehistoric and modern crocodiles, and the now extinct thecondonts, pterosaurs and dinosaurs. Paleontologists believe that both dinosaurs and crocodiles evolved, in the later years of the Triassic Period (c. 248-208 million years ago), from creatures called pseudosuchian thecodonts. Lizards, snakes and different types of thecondont are believed to have evolved earlier in the Triassic Period from reptiles known as eosuchians. C. The most important skeletal differences between dinosaurs and other archosaurs are in the bones of the skull, pelvis and limbs. Dinosaur skulls are found in a great range of shapes and sizes, reflecting the different eating habits and lifestyles of a large and varied group of animals that dominated life on Earth for an extraordinary 165 million years. However, unlike the skulls of any other known animals, the skulls of dinosaurs had two long bones known as vomers. These bones extended on either side of the head, from the front of the snout to the level of the holes in the skull known as the antorbital fenestra, situated in front of the dinosaur’s orbits or eyesockets. D. All dinosaurs, whether large or small, quadrupedal or bipedal, fleet-footed or
