We live in Texas and we were on our way home from Houston one Saturday morning. It was 1:00 am to 2:00 am. We decided to stop at the local gas station to get some coffee and snacks.
When we were done, we got back into our car ,and then I noticed a man standing outside in front of the building. It was obvious that he was a homeless man. His clothes were worn out and it looked like he had gone in and gotten something warm to drink.
The next thing I saw was a dog that walked up to the front of the building. Being a dog lover, I could tell she was a she, because I found that she had been feeding puppies. She was very
weak and terribly in need of something to eat. I felt so bad for her. if she didn't eat soon, she and her puppies would not make it.
We noticed that so many people walked by and didn't even pet her. We also did nothing for some reasons.
But someone did. And what he did brought tears to my wife and I. The homeless man, who I thought did not buy himself anything to eat, went back into the store. He had gone into the store and with the money which might be all for him, bought a can of dog food and fed that mother dog. At that time, what shocked me most was that the dog’s eyes filled with tears.
This story isn’t an inspirational one, but it plays a great part in my life. That weekend was Mother’s Day weekend. Many of us forgot that some animals are moms, too. And animals as well as us are both the creations of God.
Today although I can’t remember all the details, it always reminds me to be good. That homeless man had shown me what I should have done. He made me become a better man from then on.
