Jimmy was a boy in London. He started painting when he was three years old, and when he was five, he was very good at it.
Jimmy’s pictures were different from others’because he never painted on the whole of the paper. He just painted on the bottom half, and the top half of the paper was always empty.
No other painters had ever done like that, so people thought Jimmy was quite clever. A lot of people bought his pictures. They thought Jimmy would be a famous artist when he grew up. But Jimmy wanted to be a teacher in the future.
One day, someone asked, “Please tell me, Jimmy, why do you only paint half of the paper?”
“Because I’m small,” Jimmy said, “and my brushes can’t reach very high.”
