1.Course Overview

The formation and development of the study methods is always the process of science formation and development, thus exploring the system of the study method is of great theoretical and practical significance. Particularly with the rapid development of current tourism, the research method of the tourism becomes more urgent. The research method and technology of tourism is the objective requirement, meanwhile the complexity and comprehension of the travel phenomenon determines the uniqueness of tourism study methods and the intersection of contemporary multidisciplinary knowledge to establish the system of research methods provides a theoretical basis.

The course content includes three main parts: the basic theory of tourism research, the design of the research study and the implementation of the investigation and study. The three parts connect with each other and are all explanation and analysis of the basic theory, the implementation of the investigation is the key content of the course, in addition, survey design is the key link in the process of implementation.

2. Student Learning Outcomes

Tourism Research Method and Technology is a professional and required course for students who major in tourism management. The purpose of this course lays emphasis on cultivating students’ research methodology of the tourism, understanding of study methods, expanding the point of view of tourism research, primarily mastering the key methods and techniques of tourism research, and learning to use the relevant research methods and

technique to analyze of the basic problems and solve practical problems.

3. Course Expectations

(1)Master the basic concepts and characteristics of tourism research, know well about the general procedure and basic principles of tourism research.

(2)Master the basic contents of tourism, know well about the characteristics,function and system of tourism, master the project design of the tourism research.

(3)Know well about the type of tourism research , be specific to the object selection problem of tourism research, master the tools design and gathering data methods of tourism research, Master the content,types,procedures and methods of data processing of tourism research.

(4)Master the main methods of Quantitative analysis, the type and methods of Qualitative analysis.Be able to utilize the SPSS software to make statistics and analysis.

(5) Improve the basic ability for students to do tourism research, be able to finish the investigation report of tourism research so that they can grasp kinds of information of tourism through the tourism research and find the issue of the tourism development and predicate the trends of the tourism development

4. Assignments

(1)Guarantee on time for class,listen carefully in class,and actively participate in class discussions.The course includes the discussions about methods of tourism research ,analysis of typical case ,scenario simulation of tourism research. Performance evaluation is made of performance in class and attendance rate.

(2) Finish the related topics of tourism research and give a report in class and discuss. Tourism is a complex social and economic phenomenon,which is related to all aspects of
