1.Do you agree or disagree young people today are better able to make decisions

for their own life than in the past？

Agree, 3 reasons: compared to the past,

If I were a girl in the 19th century, I had to stay at home all the day l earning needl ework and cooking even if I were interested in medicine and wanted to become a d octor. I had to foll ow the arrangement by my parents and matchmakers and marry a man who I had not met before. But the case is totally different nowadays. In the 21st century, I can choose both my career and marriage myself. Young peopl e’s ability to make d ecisions for their own life has been increasing thanks to easier access to education, diminishing patriarchal culture and stronger law protection. (4+5)

2.Younger people spend more time on improving the world than in the past , dis

more about the world, which builds up a solid fundamental for

improvement.

Exampl es: an NGO recruiting stud ents in my university to d o voluntary

jobs in Africa.

c)The education system is more advanced, therefore young peopl e

contribute the worl d earlier.

d)However, young peopl e also face more temptation which draw their

attention than before. Some young peopl e are so indifferent with the

worl d that they only care about entertainments such as digital games.

We usually consid er worl d improvement as a responsibility of influential adults. However, nowadays more and more young peopl e are actively l earning the worl d, ambitious to change the world and making efforts to improve the worl d. (3)

3.Should company use public recognition to reward hard working, not to use

money？

Depends on the employee’s personalities and needs

Confucius, a famous ancient Chinese phil osopher, said: “He who uses his brain will govern; he who uses his strength will be governed.” One common question supervisors rack their brains to answer is how to reward an empl oyee who uses his strength well most effectively. Bonus and public recognition are two popular methods and which is better d epends on the personalities and needs of the employee. (7)

4.Is there a good reason to be impolite (rude) to another person?

a)Reasons for impolite to another person: 1. he has committed crimes; 2.

he is impolite to me first, I just fight back

b)The above two reasons are not justified: 1. l egal sanction rather than

humiliation, humanity, exampl e: prisoner of war in War II 2. Imitating the

impolite peopl e just makes you similar to them, who you dislike.

c)Reasons for polite to another person: 1. politeness helps to create a

friendly atmosphere, feel relaxed; 2. politeness increases efficiency From childhood we are taught to be gentle to others. But how about facing criminals or rud e peopl e? It seems reasonabl e to be impolite to them because they are cruel to others first and not worthy respecting. However, I think “An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth” is unjustified and at any time we shoul d keep polite to another person. (3+6)

There is a well-known saying that the fragrance always stays in the hand that gives the rose. Although helping peopl e benefits both others and us, surveys found that the social moral is d eteriorating. The percentage of stud ents who choose to walk away when seeing a stranger in troubl e increases and many think that compared to the previous generation, they are not consid erate enough to parents and friends. leadership is inborn and can't be learned by people.

Lead ership is an important skill to success that peopl e want to master.

However, it is not easy to und erstand the art of l ead ership and some peopl e even propose an id ea that l ead ership is a gift that can not be l earned by others whil e others insist that l ead ership can be improved by training and practice.

In my opinion, l ead ership is not a mystery but can be gradually comprehend.

Around half a century ago, Dr Martin Luther King, a l ead er in the African-American Civil Right Movement, d elivered a famous speech “I Have a Dream” which cheered hundreds of millions of peopl e. Although at that time civil rights of the blacks sounds like a joke, those peopl e never gave up and fought for their dream by nonviolent civil disobedience. Thanks to them, racial discrimination is no l onger reasonabl e. Sticking to a seemingly unrealistic dream and making efforts to realize it is moving, but it d oes not mean that we shoul d always stick to impractical dream. Whether persistence makes sense d epends on what the dream is. (8)

8.Do you agree or disagree with the following statement: It is impossible to be

completely honest with your friend.

a)We are all liars. Researches show that lying is something like a human

nature so to some extent we can not helping lying to others including

friends.

b)Not all lies are harmful. Sometimes we just d on’t want to hurt our friends’

feeling.

c)Despite of innocuous lies, peopl e are willing to keep honest with their

friends at most time, especially when they know that lying will make

their friends suffer from big l osses.

Friendship is always related to honesty and trust. But stop to think, have you never lied to your best friend? You may have said “I l ove the birthday present.”although you did not fancy it. Or you may have comforted your plump friend by words like “Honey, you d on’t l ook fat in that, no.” In fact, we

Some peopl e believe in that speech is silver but silence is gol d en whil e others call on that to break out in silence, or to die in it. Facing problems, peopl e are usually hesitated between two alternatives: wait with patience or take action immediately. In my opinion, none of them is a nostrum and which is an appropriate remedy d epends on the circumstance. (2)
