There is no doubt that this story shows us the brotherhood between Raymond and Charlie. But what you may not take notice of is father’ love. The father’s love is invisible. It seems that the car let the relationship between Charlie and his father came to an end. But why did the father give this car to Charlie when he died? That made Charlie confused. The father gave his son his precious things but not even a coin. Why did he do that? I think that this behaviour may represent the father’s love for his son since he had another son who was unsound, he wanted Charlie to be more independent but not sap his spirit by seeking pleasures, which may be the reason for the father’s behaviour.
