I was born in a poor family, 8 siblings, and life was ＂hand-to-mouth＂. If I recall my family experience, I would say each day was a challenge to keep our stomachs filled.
At 18, I gave up a chance to study at a local university. I started working as a salesman because I knew it paid high returns if I could work harder. I worked for Olivetti selling manual and electric typewriters, themes-copiers and calculators.
I put in a lot of time and efforts to learn the products so that I could demonstrate better. Every morning I carried a manual typewriter and shouldered an electric one, from the office to my destination about 2 miles away. I have to carry them because it took very long to arrange a demo(演示) unit through the office protocol(协议), and I was motivated to sell with my sweat and tears.
The next 20 years I worked harder than graduate workers because jobs for
non-graduates were few and low with pays.
I understand the reasons why I have to work so hard for extra miles. But no regret, and I cannot let this problem to happen to my children. I must ensure they get to pass the tertiary(高等的) education and at least reach the fundamental standards in their career. I then paid for their education fees.
My children understood and saw the simple lifestyle that my wife and I are having. They say they will repay after they step into employment. They made their grades one by one, and all are working now.
I told my children my past and let them know I gave them wings, but they must know the root! I hope this conscious education will pass through the generations!

Recently, a team from the University of Michigan and Peking University analyzed 427 million messages sent by users in 212 countries to look into the differences in emoji use by location and culture. The findings indicated the French are emoji power users and included them in 19.7% of their texts. It’s almost twice that of Russia, where only 10.9% of the messages cont ained emojis. Americans came in a close third at 9.2% and was followed by Mexico at 7.9%. Also, though the handily wins the title as the most popular emoji, the French appear to prefer the . They are also more likely to use variations of the heart emoji. Not surprisingly, the study found that women tend to use emojis more extensively than men. However, they stick to a handful of favorites. Men, on the other hand, show better judgment and appear to go to extra length to find an emoji that matches the situation. The researchers say people living in Australia and France who believe one person’s need is greater than that of a society or group, used happier emojis. Conversely, those from countries with closely knit societies, like Colombia, prefer using sad or angry emojis. Also, cultures like Turkey and Russia, known for their strictness, appeared to be more content, at least according to the emojis. On the other hand, people in tolerant cultures, like Mexico, seemed unhappy or dissatisfied. The researchers believe the findings of this "first large-scale analysis of emoji usage" will help develop input methods and perhaps even expand our emoji vocabulary! In the study, the class was then divided into two treatment groups. The first treatment group was permitted to use laptops and tablets for purposes relating to their lesson. If the students were obviously distracted, professors could stop them from using the devices. In the second group, students could only use tablets, making the screen easily visible to the professors. When it came time for final exam scores, the researchers found that using a laptop or tablet in the classroom had caused a drop of roughly one-fifth of a standard. The results for the two treatment groups were nearly the same, they say. And, the negative effects were seen most heavily in male students.
