On Internet Addict

If asked whether the internet is the great discovery of the 21th century, my answer would be yes. It has dawn the world closer together, realized countless incredible dream, and provided modern people with the great many conveniences and a brilliant life. Common folks like us rely on the cyber world in various ways, for communication, entertainment, banking and shopping.

For is convenience, the internet has attracted people like magnets and some even get addicted to it. Some studies estimate as many as 10 percent of China’s young web users are addict –mostly to online multiplayer games. Some individuals showed physical signs of addiction when kept away from their computers, very similar to substance-dependent addicts; others ignore food, drink and sleep for the sake of gaming.

In my view, internet does make our lives easier but we shouldn’t hence get obsessed with. It’s necessary that we understand the role of the internet-it adds color, but should not serve as the only color in life. So, use the internet but never abuse it; otherwise, life huddled in front of a computer screen will harm us physically, psychologically and socially.

Aging of the Population

People in China are living longer and longer while new babies are insufficient to take place of them. As a result, China has become an aging society, with the population over 60 reaching 134 million, or more than 10 percent of the country's 1.3 billion total.

The aging of the population is putting more and more serious pressure on both society and family. National expenditure for the aging population is always on the increase. To make matters worse, a declining proportion of the working population is likely to hinder the economic development. As for the young couples, they are struggling harder than ever to support their old parents while raising their children at the same time.

Among the following three ways to address this situation, the first is to pay due attention to guaranteeing the basic living standards of the elderly and safeguarding their legitimate rights and interests. Secondly, the elderly should be given full chance to play an active role in our social life and make a contribution to the whole society. Last, but not least, we should persist in our efforts to develop the market which provides products for the elderly and stimulate the growth of our economy.

On College Students’ Job Hunting

In recent years, college students find it increasingly difficult to get a job. It sounds strange since young college students are usually intelligent, well-educated phenomenon, aspirant and eager to bring their talent into full play. Then what underlies the strange phenomenon?

There are several reasons for this. To begin with, nowadays college students aim too high. All they want are “good” jobs which could offer good salary, comfortable working conditions, high social status among others. Consequently, most college students are unwilling to accept vacant jobs they consider not “good” enough. Another reason is that there is a big gap between the majors some students study in school and the demands of vacant jobs. So companies think some students are not fit for the jobs.

Solution to the problem requires efforts on both the society and the students. The companies should value the students, talent and knowledge while the latter should not merely aim at material gains. They should be down-to–earth in building up their career. Furthermore, they should face their weak points so as to improve themselves and be more competent.

On The Safety of Food

Over the past couple of years, several cases of the food scandal have been disclosed on various media. The problem of food security has become a hot button across society. The prevalence of food insecurity has greatly impacted public health, which the government could not afford to ignore, according to the online edition of the People Daily.

There are a couple of driving forces, I would argue, behind this undesirable tide. First, in the course of the rapid economic evolution, we ignore moral education, giving rise to the rising rate of the problem. More importantly, the lack of adequate regulation and punishment on those illegal producers enforces the trend.

As Confucius instructed, it is better late than never. Prompt and strict measures should be taken to turn back this evil trend. The government should launch a massive moral campaign to educate all citizens and draw up tougher laws to crack down on those irresponsible corporations and prohibit them from entering the food industry again. I am firmly convinced that through our combined efforts we are bound to enjoy more risk-free foods in the days ahead.

To Issue Consumption Coupons or Not?

In the early 2009 when the world was fighting with financial

worth100 to 200 Yuean to the city's low-income households and all the primary and minddle school students.The move gained a positive response when people's spending surged. Follwing the positive example set by Hangzhou,many other cities in China are considering carrying out similar pracitices

However,people hold mixed views regarding whether the movce shouled be promoted, expecially nationwide Firjm supporters say that these coupons can help restonre consumers' confidence ,encourggd them to spend more and stimulat the economy .But some other insiders are more cautious abbout the issuance of such coupons. They hold that coupons only have a one-off stimulus effect and should not be used as a long= term practice

My attitude towards the issue denpengss on to whom these coupons would be giver If the coupons were to be allocated to everyone regardless of theri economic situations.Iwould disaree But if local gobernment s hand jou coupons only to low=income familes,as Hangzhou has experimented ,Iwould agree.

Drunken driving

Nowadays more and more people are awaring of a phenomenon.There are a lot of drivers driving after drinking a lot.

The bad influence of drunken driving is very large .It is not only take a lot of money, but also take away people’s life. For example, In the August 4. 2009, a girl named Ma fangfang was knocked down by a drunken driver in Zheng Zhou.Also, a man named Zhang Xijun knocked down 26 people and made 2 men died in Jixi Heilongjiang the day later. What a sad thing it is! How can we let those things happen again!

So as a college student what can we do to prevent those things happen again? Firstly, I think we should persuade the people around us like our family not to drunken driving.Scondly,we should be careful when walking on road.If we find something wrong with a car, we should call the police. Last but not least, we should propagate the bad influence of drunken driving. In this way ,I think we can reduce the accident caused by drunken driving and save a lot people!

Attend Your Classes Regularly

Nowadays,students in universities are not serious about attending all the classes. Those who go to classes are used to being late and leaving early. Although teachers in colleges don't care so much about this problem ,it's still very important for the students to ensure their attendence. Otherwise,you will be forbbiden to take the exam,which may prevent you from obtaining the certificate . If the whole class don't attend the classes,the teacher will be really unpleasant to teach you. However,he will be happy to see every seat occupied. It's a behaviour which can show your respect to your teacher.Maybe you just don't want to attend the class but don't you think your class is such an attractive place? And it is also an exllent way to form a habit to catch up with your teachers. As a university student,we should form a good habit of attending to classes regularly and I'm sure that we will benefit from it some day.

How Should Parents Help Children to Be Independent

Nowadays, there is a growing concern over such a phenomenon, that is, some parents take care of almost everything concerned with their children, including study, work, marriage. Some parents believe that this is love, however, it is only to destroy children’s independence thoroughly.

For the future of the next generation, more efforts should be made by parents to help their children to be independent. The fundamental one is to cultivate the awareness, namely, the importance and necessity of being independent, which is supposed to begin from childhood. Children should be taught that no one can be stronger and more helpful than themselves in this world.

The quality of independence is so indispensable for us that parents had better act as a tutor, not a dictator. And only with parent’s trust, can the next generation accumulate confidence step by step.

One of the controversial issues today is online shopping. According to a recent survey，a large number of consumers are in favor of online shopping as it has become a trend. In this essay, I will discuss the positive and negative effects of this issue and offer my own view on it.

On the positive aspect, one of the most significant advantages is that online shopping brings customers so much convenience that it is widely recognized as much more time-saving than traditional shopping. Moreover, online customers have access to commodities of such a huge variety and number. Perhaps the primary advantage is that they have the opportunities to compare prices of a product offered by different retailers. On the negative aspect, there is a good chance of buying a defective product, as they cannot examine the quality when shopping online. What’s more, th ere exist some dishonest and incredible online retailers who may do further damages to buyers’ interests.

As far as I’m concerned, the benefits of online shopping greatly outweigh its drawbacks. People should make better use of shopping and bypass its negative effects. People can never be too careful when shopping online.

On Earth Hour

Earth Hour started in Australia with millions of homes and businesses turning their lights off for one hour. Now it has grown to become one of the world’s biggest climat e change initiatives. People are all joining together in a global effort to show that it’s possible to take action on global warming.

Earth Hour has brought about some new changes to our lives. The iconic "Bird’s Nest" National Stadium and the nearby "Wate r Cube" National Aquatics Center, usually illuminated by floodlights, went dark at 8:30 p.m., while dozens of hotels, office buildings, shopping malls and restaurants also switched some lights off. People join activities such as candle-lit dinners and star-gazing parties as a response to the call for "going dark". However, some critics have dismissed the event as simply a gimmick that will not make any difference.

From my point of view, Earth Hour is a global call to action to every individual, every business and every community. A call to stand up, to take responsibility and to get involved in working towards a sustainable future. Earth Hour is a message of hope and a message of action. Everyone can make a difference.

Choosing an Occupation

Every one faces the problem of choosing an occupation after graduation from college or university, which plays a vital role in his life. An appropriate occupation makes a man work with zest(热情) and vigor, as well as contribute to his country.

To make a wise choice, two important things should be taken into consideration. One is the interest, the other, the demands of people and society. Only if the two aspects are connected, can a man show his talent and ability to the best advantage. If the two conflict, the former should be under the latter, for the people's interests are more important than the individual's.

In regard to my choice in the future, I am fond of learning foreign languages; what is more, with the implementation of the Open-Door Policy, exchange between home and abroad in economy and culture has been growing significantly, thus I'm determined to be a qualified interpreter.

Salary of Interest?

Upon graduation, virtually all college students will confront the problem of the career choice. It is truly a tough choice. Students' opinions differ greatly on this issue. Some hold that priority should be given to their interest in jobs, but others take the attitude that salary is the most critical factor influencing their career choices.

As to myself, I prefer the latter view. A well-paid job exerts a tremendous fascination on a great number of people, with no exception to me. Although it might be impossible to measure the value of one’s job in terms of money, salary counts most when I choose my future career. In my view, our career choices largely depend on how and where we have been brought up. I come from a poor urban family and my parents were both laid-off workers. In order to finance my tuition, they have been working hard over the past four years. As the only son in my family, I have to shoulder the burden of supporting my family.

In short, salary is the first and only consideration in my choice of career.

On Opening Psychological Courses

Recently, more and more educators and common citizens suggest that universities and colleges open more courses which are helpful for students’psychological health. Personally, I fully agree with their proposal for the following reasons.

On the one hand, the ever-increasing pressure of study at the moment and job-hunting in the future may lead to many psychological problems, such as anxiety, depression and even despair, and the psychological courses open a door for communication and relaxation.On the other hand, such courses can teach students how to regulate feelings and emotions under different situations, which is a good preparation for the future life in the complex society. Finally, these courses also introduce good habits which are conducive to one’s mental and psychological health. To be mature and qualified citizens in the society, students have to do more than study hard.

In a word, I warmly welcome the establishment of psychological courses in universities.

In my mind, they are good for students’psychological development.

How to Eliminate Cheating on Campus

Nowadays. instead of listening attentively in class and working hard after class, a number of students adopt all kinds of dishonest methods to get high scores in examinations. It has become such a serious problem that it has aroused the concern from the whole society.

To put an end to such a serious problem, in my mind., it calls for the efforts from all sides. First of all, the university authority should make it clear that any cheating behaviors in the examinations, from whispering and copying, receiving answers via mobile phones to asking ringers for help, will be severely punished with no exception. Moreover, teachers of all subjects should go all the way to restore honesty by setting an example for the youth through speaking sincerely and behaving truthfully. Last but not least, young students, the future of our nation, should view integrity as the prerequisite to an upright and responsible citizen so as to learn to despise and fight dishonest behaviors throughout the society.

How can anybody expect to lead a meaningful life until he is far from any kind of cheating behaviors? Only when all of us join in the efforts of eliminating cheating at all levels can we expect to have a cleaner society and a more beautiful future.

What is success? Different people hold views on This question. Some think that one is successful if he can make a great deal of money. Others argue that success means holding an important government post. Still others believe that whoever has got high academic title is successful. It is clear that there are quite different opinions on success.

In order to become successful, you should first of all be both perseverant and hardworking. As you know, whatever you do, there are always two possible results: success and failure. When you fail, you should never lose heart. On the contrary, you must build up your confidence and work even harder. You should always keep in mind that perseverance is the mother of success and industry is the key to it. In addition, you should pay great attention to your work method. It is necessary for you to sum up your experience constantly and improve the efficiency of your work. Finally, it is important for you to get along well with your co-workers, care for each other and help each other. If you follow these principles, you will certainly achieve remarkable success in the future.

In my opinion, success means achieving brilliant results in one’s work, that is, making outstanding contributions to the development of the country and bringing happiness to the people. So my conclusion is that even if one has made great progress in what he does, I don’t think there’s any reason for him to be conceited.

It is a commonplace among moralists that you cannot get happiness by pursuing it. This is only true if you pursue it unwisely. Chinese Food

Chinese are famous for their cuisine. Chinese are the ultimate gourmet. Especially in south China, they would say they'd eat everything that has four legs besides the dinner table, everything that has two wings besides a plane. Many of the dishes served in China may really surprise newcomers. And many of these dishes are so called medicinal dishes believed to have extraordinary nutritional value, including Shark Fin, Swallow Nest.

Snake soup is among the most treasured soups in China. Then there are also snake gall and blood mixed in liquor which supposedly will brighten your eyes. Some "westernized" Chinese would suggest that if Adam and Eve had been Chinese we humans would still be in the Garden of Eden as they would have eaten the snake.

Chopsticks are the main table utensils in China. Chinese children starts with a spoon but will adapt to chopsticks as early as when he just turns one. As a gift chopsticks symbolize straightforwardness, because of its shape. Chinese chopsticks don't have pointed tip, unlike the Japanese style that is refined to pick out the bones for their main diet, fish. Chinese chopsticks are mostly of bamboo, but today there are more and more wooden ones and plastic ones.

Foreigners are not expected to use chopsticks proficiently, but if they do, they will give a mighty impression. Therefore before you go to China,

go to the local Chinese restaurant, if not to find authentic Chinese food, at least you can practice the use of chopsticks. If in your first meal in China you don't have to use chopsticks, then if you still can't handle the two sticks to pick up a big shrimp in your tenth meal, you show your incompetence in learning and the willingness to learn

The Internet

In the technology society, the Internet has become an important part in daily life. There are a growing number of people interested in the Internet. People can study, entertain, and watch the news on the Internet. For our students, we are able to get the latest information and learning materials in the Internet. Besides, we can join group discussions with other students, and the distance education on the Internet is very useful to us. Except for study, students can have fun on the Internet, such as watching movies, listening to the music and getting news. It helps us to broaden our horizons. But, we should control ourselves and can not spend too much on searching the Internet.

The usage of Internet becomes one of the most controversial topics in the society. As a college student, I believe Internet is beneficial to me more than the way it harms me. There are many advantages for using Internet.

First, I can best use my time to find information online instead of going to different libraries. Also, the information can be dated back in decades ago. It is very helpful to use those information as reference and historical proof. In the library, it is hard to find so much "old" information. Another advantage to use Internet is that I can stay home and have a lecture online. It is much more convenience to me because I can stay warm to have class in the winter time instead of spending two hours on the bus and physically attend class. In addition, Internet provides me a better way to communicate with my friends and professors. I can get response from my professor in a few minutes instead of waiting outside of his door for hours. Some of my friends are living in a foreign countries, I can simply just drop him an email whenever I can and get a message from him very quick. It is much better than waiting for letters. Also, the email will not lose while the letter might be losing in the process of delivery.

However, there are also disadvantage of using Internet. For example, I might spend too much time on the Internet to concentrate on my study. Also, there is a chance that I am cheated because of the Internet purchasing. Last, Internet has lots of information, both helpful and harmful. There might be too much tempatation that I will access some of the harmful information I can on the Internet.

Even though the usage of Internet has both positive and negative effect to me, I still consider Internet is a symbol of technology development. I

believe I can use the Internet very well as long as I know how to control myself.
