1. Describe one place of interest in your hometown.

A: Shanghai is a modern city with lots of places of interest such as Yu Garden, the oriental pearl TV tower, Nanjing road and so on. But among all these places, the bund is my favorite one as it has been the symbol of shanghai for hundreds of years. More than 100 years ago, some famous foreign architects built masterpieces there of various building styles. Nowadays, when you walk around in the bund, you can experience the exotic atmosphere as well as enjoy the beautiful Huangpu river .in a word, the bund is a place where Chinese culture and foreign cultures meet together. It really creates a history.

2. Talk about the changes in shanghai.

A: With the development of science and technology, Shanghai is developing more and more quickly. As a Shanghainese , it is wonderful to see that Shanghai has changed a lot. Many years ago, there were still no big bridges and wide roads. Now , we can find big bridges, wide roads everywhere. People used to live in small rooms in narrow streets , but now most of them are living in big housing estates. Shanghai is also more beautiful than it used to be. Nowadays, you can see grass, lakes and parks here and there. In addition, the 2010 Expo will be held in Shanghai as well, This makes the foreigners pay more attention to Shanghai. We are sure that Shanghai will be more beautiful and more competitive tomorrow.

3. Better city, better life

A:as we all know, the theme of Expo 2010 is "Better City, Better Life," representing a central concern of the international community for future policy making, urban strategies and sustainable development. With the progress of our society, more and more farmers hope to go to the city and enjoy a high-quality life. So villages are becoming less and less as the area of cities are growing gradually. Better city, better life. This theme has abundant meanings. It represents the common wish of the whole humankind for better living in future urban environments.

4. Do you want to be a volunteer? What do you want to do for the EXPO?

A: yes, I really want to be a volunteer, you know, the expo will held soon and thousands of visitors from home and abroad will come to shanghai. As a young student, first, we can offer visitors some help to show kindness of our people .Second, being a volunteer give us more chances to communicate with foreign friends and introduce the culture of shanghai to them. in this way, the world will know more about china and china will know more about the world. Third, it is a golden opportunity for us to improve English by chatting with foreigners face to face .in conclusion, being a volunteer is worthwhile and it will be a precious experience in my life.

5. what do you think of the expo?

A: the 2010 World EXPO will be held in shanghai soon. The World Expo has a long history but it has never been held in china.So the 2010 World Expo is an honor for all Chinese people. As a student in Shanghai, I am also excited about that because it is a chance for us to know more about the world and let the world know more about china. on the other hand ,the expo proves the greatness of the ―reform and opening –up policy‖, after 3 decades of hard words, we, Chinese people are eventually recognized by the globe and we will continue to make contributions to the world. Holding the world expo is one of them. In a word, I believe the coming expo will be an exceptional expo just like the Beijing Olympics did.

Social problems

1. What can we do to make our city more beautiful?

A: I think we can protect the environment to make our city more beautiful. First, we can pick up litters and put them into garbage can whenever we see. Second, we should plant more trees and flowers around us as trees can take in carbon dioxide to make air cleaner. Third, We should stop factories from pouring waste water into the river or waste gas into the air as well .In a word, everyone should take action to protect the environment right now and make our city more beautiful because it is our duty to do so. Just like Gandhi said: be the change you want to see in the world. As long as everyone pays a little more attention to the environment, it will bring a significant change.

2. Are you in favor of smoking? Why or why not?

A s far as I‘m concerned, smoking should be banned in public places. As we know, smoking is harmful not only to our health but also to the environment. Smoking can lead to many diseases, such as lung cancer. Smoking affects non smokers more than it does smokers. In public places, the harm of smoking is greater. This is connected with another effect of smoking. That is, smoking pollutes environment by giving much poisonous vapour off into the air.Therefore, that the government ban smoking is very necessary and important to us. It is a measure to protect our health and environment.

2. What do you think of the problem of generation gap?

A:In my opinion, the lack of communication, different views on certain problems and different attitudes towards life may cause the generation gap or even widen it. But how to bridge the generation gap? As far as I‘m concerned, mutual understanding is very important. On one hand, parents view does reflect their concern for the well being of their children. But they should give children more freedom as they grow up and have their own views .On the other hand, children should talk with their parents and understand them well. We should respect the traditional values they brought up Therefore, it will be wise for parents and their children view each other as friends.

3. Are you in favor of running red light?(queue….) Why or why not?

A: as far as I‘m concerned, we shouldn‘t run red lights. First, it is a social law that everyone should obey. Second, with the rapid development of our society, our moral standard should be improved at the same

pace. Third, running red lights is not only dangerous to us but also bring side effects to out society. Just imagine: if a child sees you run the red light, next time, he or she will imitate that behavior .so everyone should take actions to obey the rule because it is our duty to do so. just like Gandhi said: be the change you want to see in the world. As long as everyone‘s quality is improved, our society will be improved and we can expect a harmonious social environment.

4. Play computer games and watch TV ads

A: as far as I‘m concerned, every coin has two sides. On one hand, playing computers games can make us feel relaxed after long working hours. On the other hand, if we devote ourselves to playing computer games, we will lose our precious time. You know, A plant may produce new flowers; man is young but once. Lost time is never found again. Most importantly, computer games contain a lot of bad things such as violent element which certainly have a negative effect on us. I think as a senior student, we are old enough to deal with study and relaxation, we can tell what is right from what is wrong .the only thing we need is discipline.

5. knowledge gained from books or experience

A:"Experience is the best teacher," people say. Indeed, the most important, and sometimes the hardest lessons we learn in life come from our participation in situations. For my part, you can't learn everything from a book. And only practice makes you a successful person. In conclusion, knowledge gained both from experience and from books have their respective roles to play in our life. However, in my view, I think the former one is more important than the latter one. The most important lessons can't be taught; they have to be experienced.

6. team work or individual work.

A:Nowadays, almost everyone has taken into the teamwork and teamwork is more and more important than before.as far as I‘m concerned, it is necessary to work with a nice team. First, Teamwork can gather more useful information. second, Teamwork makes people put things into their right perspective. Third, Teamwork makes people take things into consideration comprehensively. Most importantly, teamwork could strengthen the responsibility of the team members. In a word, Individual commitment to a group effort — that is what makes a team work a company work, a society work, a civilization work.

7.Willing to help others

A:Disabled people are normal people, except that they can not see as much as we can, or they can not walk as fast as we can.Since they can not see as much, or they can not walk as fast, they need our help.We can immediately do a long list of ways in which we can help them, for instance, Each student finds someone to help, in the neighborhood or the community. You can help them to cross the road. You can help pushtheir wheel chairs. as Winston church said:from what we get,we make a living,from what we give ,we make a life.so I hope everyone can have a wonderful and meaningful life by giving others a helping hand when they are in trouble.

1. watch tv

A: i enjoy watching tv ,especially news report. Almost everyday I turn on the TV at 6:30 p.m. and wait for the news program. This has become a part of my life. The News Report contains a large amount of information from the international political situation to the latest foot-ball game. And the most important character is its fast pace. In my opinion, the News Report is more than a TV program. It is a way of communication. Through this program, people can know and understand world affairs. The world thus becomes smaller and smaller. I really appreciate this kind of benenfit.

2. your favorite book or movie

A:my favorite book/film is je. It tells us a beautiful story. Je, is a poor girl, She lived in her aunt‘s house. But Her aunt didn‘t like her, so she was taken to an orphanage. When Jane grew up, she worked as a governess in a big family. Bit by bit, Jane and her master Mr Rochester came to fall in love with each other. But the master had a wife. She was a madwoman. When Jane knew this, she left her teaching post. Afterwards,j‘s master‘ house was burnt down and R became disabledd. His mad wife also died in the big fire. A:Students need enough sports and activities to do physical exercises to relax, proper recreation will relieve the tension and discomfort of our busy life because it offers you various ways to let out your emotions. What I usually do to relax after school is jogging. Usually I don't spare time for exercise, but I value the PE class at school. You know,Jogging several rounds in the field certainly relieves my pressure. on the other hand, jogging makes me healthier and stronger as it strengthens my immune system. besides, I learn endurance from jogging which has a positive effect on my study .whatever problems I met,I can still hang in there.

A:the invention of computers is one of the greatest humankind's inventions. It plays a very important role in our modern life. First of all, every company nowadays uses a computer to store its data and make different kinds of operations. it is very difficult to imagine life without computers. Secondly, computers provided a great means of communication - the Internet. Finally, in addition to these practical benefits people can go shopping without leaving their houses. With an Internet access, a computer and an online credit card, more and more people finish their shopping at home. In sum, I believe that computers made our lives easier. A:Every time I talk with others about my friends, I just refer to those I have met in my high School times. Because I had so many close friends around me, meanwhile, I could get on well with every one of them. When I just became a Senior three student, I had to face the Entrance Examination for College. Every friend of mine had the same dream to enter a famous university! Our main task was to study all day long, to solve so many difficult problems that we came across in the examination papers. A:Nowadays,a large number of students show great interest in school activities.In their eyes,learning from books is not the sole task of their school career.They also wish to take every chance to obtain practical knowledge.Additionally,they find that after long hours of study,they can relax both physically and mentally by taking part in school activities.As far as I‘m concerned, We can learn plenty of things from the students we meet in activities.What‘s more,we can also get lots of social experience from doing so.Such experience can never be learned by being a ―book-worm.‖

8how to learn English

A: I began to learn English at the age of seven. At that time, I enjoyed learning pronunciation and tone though I hadn‘t fully understood how to use grammar properly. After class, I listened to English tapes again and again. Gradually, I began to regard English as part of my life: I listened to the BBC or Voice of America news while having breakfast; read an English newspaper at breaks and got additional practice in the language chatting with foreign friends online on the weekends.In order to broaden my horizon, I created my “twitter”account last April where I met people from all walks of life: writers, officials, teachers, businessmen… Even Arnold Schwarzenegger, the governor of California, followed me on Twitter. I find that English makes my life more colorful and interesting.

As I chatted with these English-speaking people, I realized that even though we are from different countries and have various cultures, we can still be good friends because of our common values. I think people should deal with the relationship between the gdp increase and ecological development. The GDP increase which is achieved at the cost of sacrificing human living environment and destroying our valuable natural resources is undoubtedly ridiculous.but how to fine the balance between these two things?from my point of view,first,laws should be made as soon as possible to make sure that our industry works sustainably.second, everyone should take action to use clean energy.in a word,it is of great importance to pay more attention to our pollution problems to create a better future.

4 i n my opinion, just like the old saying ―every coin has its two sides‖, it maybe hard for me to decide where to live. The life in the city and in the countryside has both advantages and disadvantages. On one hand, I like the convenient service in the city, although I hate the noisy and crowded pollution. On the other hand, I enjoy the quiet and peaceful life in the countryside while I have to pay the price for inconvenience. In a word, I think the ideal style of life maybe working in the city and living in the countryside.

nowadays,many parents spend a lot of money on childrens‘ attending training classes.it's true that a training class or a tutor can be helpful to a student.Hower,as a matter of fact,I don't think they are necessary.The reasons are as follows. First,students can grasp all the knowledge in their normal classes as long as they put their heart into it.Second,if a student can't do well in class,how can they in a training class?
