Ang Lee, director of many excellent films, has made a martial arts film called Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.It is a masterpiece. The story takes place in the early 1800s in China.

The characters–Xiulian, mubai and jiaolong, are connected by Xiulian’s sword. It is sto len by Yu Jiaolong who is young and graceful, but is not as good as she seems. Xiulian and Li try to get the sword back. Xiulian is brave and strong and Li is good with a sword. They are in love with each other. His romantic scenes with Xiulian are very moving .
