Margaret Gabica, 62, a pr imary teacher at St Julian’s Primary School in Newport. It was the heart-warming moment for her to see people doing a flashmob dance on her last day in the school after working there for 25 years.

Mrs Gabica, got a card, flowers and presnets at a farewell party on Wednesday morning. Then she went out of the meeting room for a break. She didn’t know a big surprise was waiting for her. As she stood in the middle of the playground, 350 schoolchildren suddenly ran out of the buildings and began to dance to to the song “He Lives in You” ,one of the songs from The Lion King. Mrs Gabica later joined in and received a farewell hug from her pupils.

Rules are important for Mr Sherrington, the new headmaster to Highbury Grove School.It was“famous”for its students’ poor behavior(行为) at school before Mr Sherrington came. But after more than one year’s hard work, he made it “one of Britain’s best state schools in 2019.”

How did it happen? The change began form a strict rule-- “sit in detention(留堂)”. Some parents gave it a name ‘Orwellian’.It means sitting in an empty room alone after breaking a rule. Because of this rule, the students should either follow the rule or “sit in detention”. For example, if one student is late for class, or doesn’t wear school uniforms(校服), he will get a one-hour detention. Bad behavior in class will bring a fully day in the room. For the first five days, more than 300 students had to sit in detention.
