Geomechanics is an interdisciplinary field dealing with the mechanical behaviour of, and fluid flow and transport phenomena in geomaterials (soils, rocks, concrete, ice, snow, powders and ceramics), and their role in diverse applications in geological, geotechnical, structural, earthquake, environmental, mining, offshore and petroleum engineering. The journal emphasizes contributions to the understanding of the complex properties of geomaterials through experimental measurements, and the development or novel use of analytical or numerical techniques to solve problems in geomechanics. Topics of interest in material behavior include instabilities and localization, interface and surface phenomena, fracture and failure, coupled chemo-hygro-thermo-mechanical problems, and time-dependent phenomena. Specifically within the scope of the journal fall the modelling and simulation of heterogeneous materials at different scales, including micromechanics, and any issue that bears upon difficulties encountered in modelling materials where the microstructure becomes important for macroscopically observed mechanical and physical properties. The scope also covers the solution of inverse problems including back analysis of in situ or laboratory tests, and stochastic methods. The journal is particularly interested in contributions that demonstrate the application of theoretical geomechanics in the solution of engineering problems.

Computers and Geotechnics provides an up-to-date reference to the engineers and researchers engaged in computer aided analysis, design and research in geotechnical engineering. The journal is intended for an expeditious dissemination of new developments in the broad areas of soil and rock mechanics. Static, cyclic and transient loading situations are relevant. Contributions on constitutive models of geomaterials (soils, rocks, concrete, masonry, ceramics, etc.), computer analyses of physical models and adequately monitored prototype structures and application of computer techniques to design are especially welcome. Computer codes are not published but novel features of a code can form appendices.

Soils and Foundations is a bi-monthly journal which specializes on the whole field of geotechnical engineering and related disciplines. This journal publishes research papers, reports of important engineering experiences, state-of-the-art reports on important themes, and discussions. Continuing efforts have been made by the editorial board members to maintain the high quality of the journal by reviewing manuscripts in careful and fair manner. A special attention has been focused therefore on the novelty and readers' benefit together with practical applicability if necessary. Further, the editorial board is happy to give instructions to authors of manuscripts which could improve their quality. One of the benefits to non-English-speaking authors is that the English in accepted manuscripts is improved by a specialist who is a native and professionally-educated English speaker. 中英文商标的命名与翻译 摘要：商标作为企业商品的一个重要组成部分，代表商品的符号，并随着商品交流的扩大而声名远扬。随着商品经济的高度发展和国际贸易的频繁往来，作为商品标志的商标的命名与翻译也就变得越来越重要和富于影响力。由于科技的进步，中英文商标作为一种文化现象，广泛地存在于社会生活中，对企业商品的宣传，推销，美化人们的生活，起着重要的作用。因此，本文从中西方文化差异的角度出发，先通过对中英文商标实例的分析，概述了商标词的来源及其命名的原则，介绍了商标词的翻译特征，再举例探讨了中英文商标英译中存在的几种问题，以强调产品的商标翻译的重要性，最后提出了几种常用的商标翻译法，使译者能从中受益。 关键词：商标；文化差异；翻译原则；翻译方法 一、中英文商标的命名 商标作为企业商品的一个重要组成部分，代表商品的符号，并随着商品交流的扩大而声名远扬。商标也是人类创造的一种语言符号，具有特定的标志意义，还有丰富深刻的象征性。[1]许多国际著名的商标已经成为企业的无形资产和巨大财富。一个好的商标，如Coca-cola(可口可乐商标)能够为企业创造上亿元的销售业绩，而一个译名很差的商标，即使它所代表的产品质量优良，也可能使企业的销售滑坡。因此，产品想要参与国际竞争，除了要保证质量外，还要拥有世界通行性的商标来宣传产品。[2]商标总是与企业创始人、产地相关联。不同地域赋予商品不同的文化内涵。结合商品命名理解商标词的来源，是正确翻译商标词的前提条件。 （一）来源 1、人名商标词 许多商标是人名商标词，如：Ford（福特）、Benz（奔驰）、Sassoon（沙宣）、LI-NING （李宁）、YUE-SAI（羽西）、Channel（夏奈儿）等。有时商标也选用神话传说中的人物或神灵名称，或文学、影视作品中的人名，如Nike(耐克)是希腊神话中胜利女神名，Angel （安吉尔）是保护神名。 2、地名商标词 如Cashmere（开司米毛线）是由产地Cashmere而得名；Nonie（诺基亚）是芬兰北部的一小镇名，最初的诺基亚公司建于此地；Longings(浪琴)是瑞士圣依梅尔附近的一小村庄，弗兰西龙和大卫在此创建了手表制造厂。诸如此类的还有：Champagne（香槟酒）由法国香槟酒产地而得名；青岛啤酒（Kingdom）；上海羊毛衫（Shanghai）等。 3、外来词商标词

英文商标名称地翻译与策略 1.前言 商标是商品地标志,是商品经济发展地产物,是商品生产者或经营者为使自己生产销售地商品区别于其他商品而使用地一种显著标志.它是商品显著特征地浓缩,是商品文化地核心部分.在国际市场上,商标常被企业家和消费者视为简化了地企业名称.商标一出现就成为企业地象征,是生产者和消费者直接对话地桥梁,是企业参与国际竞争地有力武器.中国地对外开放正在进一步深化,随之而来地国外企业在华地经济活动也在增加.这极大地丰富着中国人民地经济生活,并因此而衍生出了诸多对于国人而言全新地经济及商业活动.大量地国产商品正在出口到世界各地,而国外地商品也已蜂拥至国内市场.合法地商品都有一个自己地商标.因此,随着中外产品地交流,商品商标地翻译问题不可避免地出现了. 2.英文商标翻译地策略 2.1.音译 商标翻译过程中,音译是一种不可忽视地手段,具有极强地普遍性.音译是指在不背离“汉语语言规范和不引起错误联想或误解地条件下,按照原商标名称地发音,找到与之语音相近地汉语字词进行翻译.其优点是简单易行,译文有异国情调,可使产品具有一定吸引力.音译又分为：纯音译﹑谐音译和省音译. 2.1.1. 纯音译 纯音译即根据英文地读音逐字地用相近发音地汉字进行匹配地翻译.主要适用于专有名词,如：人名商标和地名商标.这种翻译法是商标在译为中文
时,因无法找到相应地汉语表达而不得不采用地翻译方法. 2.1.1.1人名商标 有些商标是姓氏构成地,如：Hoover(胡佛)真空吸尘器,是源于生产商William Henry Hoover地姓氏;Rael-Brook(雷尔-布鲁克)男装,是源于公司创始人H.Rael-Brook地姓氏.有些商标是人地全名,如：Walt Disney(沃尔特·迪斯尼)制片公司,是根据公司创始人Walt Disney地姓名而定;Pierre Cardin(皮尔·卡丹)时装,是根据该时装地制造者Pierre Cardin地姓名而定;“benz”品牌最早含义是卡尔本茨地姓,根据译音,在中国翻译成“奔驰”. 2.1.1.2地名商标 Santana(桑塔纳)轿车,San Tana原是美国加利福尼亚洲一座山谷地名称;Nokia(诺基亚)手机是根据芬兰北部一座名为Nokia地小镇命名地. 2.1.2谐音译 这种译法是以音为引子,经常是在纯音译地基础上改动个别字眼,这些字眼与原商标读音谐音,改动后地音译商标又结合产品特征.例如：为纪念航空公司创始人Willian Edward Boeing 人们以其姓氏确定地商标Boeing,译作“博音”,但作为商标,译者改用谐音“波音”,这就可以使人们对这类超音速飞机产生无尽地遐想. 2.1.3省音译 省音译是根据中国人地审美习惯,双音节和三音节地商标更能令人过目不忘,有些英文商标单词较长音节较多,如果逐字翻译,读起来拗口且不便记忆,可采用省音译来简化. 2.2意译

英文商标名称的翻译与策略 ◆ 谈晓焱秦爱君刘彩霞 吴晓菲 商标是一种特殊的语言符号,是商品显著特征的浓缩,是商品文化的核心部分,是企业参与国际竞争的有力武器。它既是标识, 又是诱饵,最终是要招揽顾客,出售商品。商标翻译符合符号学的翻译观,是由解码到编码的过程,是两种文化的移植。好的商标翻译可以给企业带来巨大的财富;反之,糟糕的商标翻译可以让企业损失惨重,所以企业的生死存亡与商标翻译息息相关。同时商标翻译能够拓宽语言学研究空间,丰富语言学的内涵,促进语言理论研究与实际应用的有机结合。本文收集了一些典型商标,经过系统的分析,借鉴并吸收了一些翻译方法,重新总结归纳了一些商标翻译的策略,还针对不同策略的商标翻译提出了需要注意的事项 。 英文商标翻译策略 1.前言
商标是商品的标志,是商品经济发展的产物,是商品生产者或经营者 为使自己生产销售的商品区别于其他商品而使用的一种显著标志。它是商品显著特征的浓缩,是商品文化的核心部分。在国际市场上,商标常被企业家和消费者视为简化了的企业名称。商标一出现就成为企业的象征,是生产者和消费者直接对话的桥梁,是企业参与国际竞争的有力武器。中国的对外开放正在进一步深化,随之而来的国外企业在华的经济活动也在增加。这极大的丰富着中国人民的经济生活,并因此而衍生出了诸多对于 国人而言全新的经济及商业活动。大量的国产商品正在出口到世界各地,而国外的商品也已蜂拥至国内市场。合法的商品都有一个自己的商标。因此,随着中外产品的交流,商品商标的翻译问题不可避免地出现了。 2.英文商标翻译的策略 2.1.音译 商标翻译过程中,音译是一种不可忽视的手段,具有极强的普遍性。音译是指在不背离“汉语语言规范和不引起错误联想或误解的条件下,按照原商标名称的发音,找到与之语音相近的汉语字词进行翻译。其优点是简单易行,译文有异国情调,可使产品具有一定吸引力。音译又分为:纯音译谐音译和省音译。 2.1.1.纯音译 纯音译即根据英文的读音逐字地用相近发音的汉字进行匹配的翻译。主要适用于专有名词,如:人名商标和地名商标。这种翻译法是商标在译 为中文时,因无法找到相应的汉语表达而不得不采用的翻译方法。 2.1.1.1人名商标 有些商标是姓氏构成的,如:Hoover (胡佛真空吸尘器,是源于生产商

Wide Angle | 广角 MODERN BUSINESS 现代商业266中英文商标名称的互译 李林颖 湖南工业大学 412007 摘要:品牌名称的翻译是跨文化交流的一种形式。然而,我们把中文商标翻译成英文或把英文商标翻成中文,将会涉及到语言、法律、文化心理、审美情趣和其他一些因素。翻译者也应注意一些文化禁忌并选择适当的方法来翻译。当然,品牌翻译不是一件简单的事情。我们翻译商品名称时,尽可能做到力求完美。一个好的商品添加一个好名字它的魅力是无穷的。 关键词:中英文商标; 文化; 译法; 禁忌 国内国际商业经营中,各类商品都有商标,注册后的商标成为某种产品的专有名字。 人类进入21世纪,国际贸易发展迅速。当商业合作和进出口规模不断扩大时,国家的边界逐渐淡化。除了广告媒介,进口和出口的产品是否可以在国外的土地上成功开发市场,品牌名称的翻译正扮演着关键的角色。商品品牌的名称类似人的名字。翻译的品牌名称是商品在其他国家的第二名字,其重要性不言而喻。 一、品牌名称的翻译原则 一个成功的翻译品牌既要保留原有文字的本质,还要具有与原文相同的影响力,在必须符合消费者名牌心理的同时,还要注意到英语和汉语的文化差异。 (一)品牌名称翻译的广告性质原则 翻译后的品牌名称必须确定产品的性质和特点,体现原有的本土化概念,在原文的基础上,起着广泛传播的作用。同时,译后名称必须符合商品的特性,简洁新颖,发音甜美。有利于拼、读、写和记忆,并容易使消费者理解,并对商品产生好的印象。例如,“Dynasty”——英文商标是“皇朝葡萄酒”,让我们不禁联想其古老而神秘的东方国家,因此,我们对良好的陈酒产生好的印象。“Forever”是“永久自行车”的商标,它符合自行车完美的“经久耐用,直到永远”的广告。“飞鸽自行车”翻译成“Flying Pigeon”,鸽子是和平的象征,“flying”使自行车的特性变得生动。“蜂花化妆品”翻译成Bee&Flower”,我们用了以后会感觉舒适和芳香。以上的翻译给消费者轻松的感觉,他们也能很容易记住。 (二)品牌名称翻译的直观原则 品牌名称的最终目标是使消费者关注,让消费者主动购买。名牌的感性原则视为品牌名称翻译的灵魂。中外合资洗涤液:“飘柔”产品被称为感性翻译原理的经典。翻译者没有把“Rejoice”按字面上意思翻译成“欢乐”或“欢欢”,而大胆的采用了自由翻译。同时,这个翻译有很强的感染力。总的来说,洗发水的消费群体几乎是女性,每个女性都希望有温和又吸引人的外表。“飘柔”抓住了消费者的梦想,诱导她们选择这种产品。小淘气婴儿用品向爱孩子的母亲表示这些东西是为你爱的宝宝所准备的,你是不是愿意掏出钱来？因此,当翻译商标名称时,我们必须仔细研究顾客的心理,反复考虑,翻译优雅、崇高、简介、易于纪忆,能够引起顾客的兴趣,让人有幸福的联想,给消费者留下深刻的印象。(三)品牌名称翻译的美学原则 译后的品牌名称不能让消费者有不好的联想,因此造成好的产品也无法销售出去。这就要求翻译者充分考虑到不同民族的文化和历史。例如:“Goldion”(男人衬衫)翻译成“金狮”,它有一个“金失”的谐音。这是工厂的禁忌,如果坚持使用“金狮”这翻译名称,产品永远不会在中国畅销。但“金利来”是个幸运的名字,它在中国已经变得熟悉并被消费者所喜爱。在日本,荷花是死亡的 象征,所以商标“荷花”应该换另外一个。又如,船舶拥有最好的质量和最低的价格,如果使用“Titanic”这个名字,没有人会买。日本“丰田”汽车制造商,当汽车开始在中国销售时,丰田公司的管理层决定用他们记忆中毛主席雄伟的诗中“久有凌云志,重上井冈山”。推出一种品牌为“凌志”的豪华车。 当我们翻译商标名称时,我们必须小心地避开消费者的禁忌,然后认真地选择吉祥的名字。(四)品牌名称翻译的等效原则 等效原则在西方是翻译理论的核心。在1961年,商界一个著名的人物指出:“翻译作品给我们的影响力应该是与原作品给他的第一个读者相同的影响力。”等效原则适合于品牌翻译,是所有翻译理论中最好的。根据等效翻译的原则,商标翻译有两个特征:1)翻译名称应该有品牌的形象;2)翻译者必须有能力提出同样的或接近产品功能的原商标翻译。也就是说翻译的名字必须容易读、听起来悦耳、美观。它必须是完美的基调、形式和意义的统一。让我们看一些例子:化妆品“Clean&Clear”意味着干净和新鲜,这原始的信息是如果你使用本产品,你的皮肤会变得干净清新。商品原来的名字会使顾客觉得干净整洁。如果翻译成“干净清爽”,给我们的感觉是舒适会消失。如果我们使用“可伶可俐”,这产品是女孩喜爱的,因为会使顾客联想起聪明漂亮的女孩。在例子中,原有的商标和翻译的商标双方都得给不同的接受者产生相同的影响力。(五)遵守我国的有关法律 “中华人民共和国商标法”规定:我们不能使用与中华人民共和国名称类似的词,也不能使用有民族偏见的词。在1998年,杭州的一家工厂注册了商标为“PRC”的工业产业链,但“PRC”是中华人们共和国的缩写。因此,这个商标名称不能获得注册。又如:黑人的牙齿显得十分洁白。但英文名称“Darkie”是一个对黑人的贬义称呼,这个在中国大陆使用了几十年的“黑人牙膏”商标不能继续注册,是因为包含种族歧视的成分。 修订于1993年的《中华人民共和国商标法》并没有限制不同文字种类的商标,我们也可以使用中国字、中文拼音、外语或少数民族语言。如果我们使用中文或外语在一起作为一个商标的名称,工业部和商务部对两种语言的要求是一致的,或要求中文和外语分两个品牌名称登记,然后用品牌名称的组合形式。事实上,商品包装设计应考虑到国际化和现代化市场,如果是这样,我们可以使用外国语言作为商品的品牌名称。有许多中国产品在开发期间只想到在本土的作用,直到规模足够大到在国际舞台上前进,他们才发现产品的商品名称明显得落后于美国、日本和其他国家。 二、品牌名称的翻译方法 品牌名称与企业的形象、信誉、实力有关,是企业重要组成部分。西方的广告设计师设计品牌名称时,为了让独特的品牌名称给消费者留下深刻地印象,并在竞争中取胜,花费不少精力。(一)汉语拼音的方法
