Last month, my classmates and I participated in the activity themed “Pride of China” in our school，which was meaningful and unforgettable.

In one class meeting, after our teacher informed us of this activity, we had a discussion on the topic. In the end, my idea to show the history of Chinese characters stood out.

We started by learning more about the topic. Firstly, we visited the museum to learn about the origin and evolution of Chinese characters. We also consulted our teacher, who explained to us how they came into being. The next step was to make the display board. With our joint efforts, we successfully made an informative and attractive one.

On the day when the exhibition “Pride of China” was held in our school, I introduced the charm of Chinese characters with great pride, which was well received with applauses. I am glad that we did our bit in providing the students with a chance to appreciate the achievements of ancient and modern China.

Last Friday night, faced with overwhelming academic tasks, I found myself on the verge of breaking down. With Gaokao approaching day by day, I was under great pressure. Having noticed all this, Mom suggested I relax a little bit during the weekend.

The next morning, my parents and I went to the park for a walk. The pavement there was covered with fallen leaves in yellow and orange, creating a unique scenery for this season. Holding a leaf in hand, I casually exchanged anecdotes with my parents, feeling the relaxation that I had been missing for a long time.

After lunch, we went rock climbing. Though the wall was high and steep, I was determined to conquer it. With my parents’ encouragement, I eventually managed to reach the top. At that moment, my confidence was restored.

On Monday morning, my parents saw me off at the school gate. Their warm smiles and raised thumbs filled me with energy. I waved them goodbye and promised to devote myself to the preparation for Gaokao. This weekend would go a long way with me as it was a new starting point, from which I believe I could go far.

Last weekend, my friend Jim and I tried a new way to explore the Forbidden City, which left me a deep impression.

To avoid wasting time on the spot for the tickets, we tried making reservations online. The whole process just took us several minutes before the message popped out that the tickets had been successfully booked.

The next day’s visit amazed both of us. On arriving, impressed by the magnificent architecture, we couldn’t wait to start our exploration. While wandering around the galleries, we were attracted by the delicate chinaware. To our excitement, we could scan the QR code to listen to the introduction, which gave us a deeper insight into their history.

In the afternoon, we had a unique experience in the VR theatre. With the VR goggles on, we found ourselves back to the time when the palace was being constructed. As we “built” the wall brick by brick, we realized how much effort was put into accomplishing the grand work of architectural art.

Before we left, I led Jim to the souvenir center for cultural creative products. All the cups, notebooks and other products there bear certain elements of royal life. Jim was satisfied with his final choice of a Chinese fan. After this visit, I found the Forbidden City both traditional and modern because our rich and profound history was made alive here!

Last week, our class participated in an extracurricular activity on paper culture, which was really an unforgettable experience.

On Monday morning, some classmates and I noticed an announcement on the school bulletin board, saying an activity on paper culture would be held in the Capital Museum. Attracted by it, we signed up without any hesitation.

The activity started on Friday with a visit to the exhibition in the museum. Following the guide, we learned about the origin and development of paper and the detailed process of papermaking. What especially impressed us was how paper contributed to the preservation and spread of human civilization.

After that, we had some hands-on experience in making paper handicrafts. Divided into different groups, we learned with great enthusiasm. With the help of a master working there, the group of boys managed to create some paper cuts and lanterns while the girls tried different folding patterns, such as hearts, stars and birds. Not until then did we fully realize that paper can be made into so many objects in our life, either decorative or functional.

Before we left, we took a group photo to record the day. With the little pieces of work in our hands, we smiled heartily to the camera. At that moment, I came to know that the wisdom of our ancestors shown in paper culture should definitely be honored, recorded and passed down.

On Monday morning, a notice on the school bulletin board greatly sparked our interest. To our amazement, our school was going to hold a photography exhibition on the theme of the most beautiful autumn. We all thought it wonderful to capture the charm of autumn with our camera, so we decided to have a try.

Then we devoted our spare time after school to the preparation for the exhibition. As the leaves changed into the fiery reds and oranges of the season, nothing else could show the unique beauty of autumn to the same extent as autumn leaves did and therefore we took many pictures of them. We also took pictures of the familiar school building with the distinctive autumn leaves as the background, making it a new perspective to appreciate the beauty of autumn. The picture of our school building with autumn leaves absolute stood out and we submitted it to our school.

We were delighted to see our photo displayed and students in our school spoke highly of our pictures in the following days, which brought us a great sense of achievement. I believe the participation in extra-curricular activities like the photography exhibition is of great benefit, for it promotes our ability to spot the beauty in our life.

Last week I participated in a school activity about making a poster entitled “40 years of China’s reform and opening-up in my eyes”.

On Friday evening, I was wondering what topic to choose for my poster. Many ideas popped into my head like “transportation”, “environment”, but I finally decided on “great changes in my home”. Immediately I turned to my parents for help. Hearing that, they took out some photo albums and began their talk. Mom told me about what our home looked like twenty years ago while dad showed me some photos taken at that time. It was the first time I had seen an old-fashioned electric fan and tape recorder. Seeing my curious expression, my parents suggested a visit the next day to the exhibition commemorating the 40th anniversary of China’s reform and opening-up.

At the exhibition, we were amazed by the brilliant achievements made in the past four decades. In the daily life area, what attracted me most was the evolution of electric appliances, especially TV sets, from the clumsy small ones to the modern high-tech ones. Dad pointed at one TV, saying his family had a similar one when he was a kid. Considering these TVs could be used

on my poster, I took some photos. With all the material collected, I got down to my poster, on which I wrote about the great changes in my home and also included some pictures.

My home is just one example. I am sure lots of Chinese families resemble mine, benefiting from China’s reform and opening-up. How proud I feel about the great changes!

Before graduation, in order to express our sincere gratitude to our beloved teachers and the hard-working staff, we prepared special gifts and “thank you” notes.

Last Monday after class, our monitor came up with an idea to extend our appreciation to the school faculty. After much thought, we decided to present them with cups featuring our class picture as well as write them “thank you” notes.

Soon afterwards, we began our project. In the following two days, some of us wrote the notes conveying our heartfelt appreciation while others carefully folded the finished notes into the shape of a heart. We also logged onto a self-customization cup website in the school’s computer room, chose our best class photos to customize the cups and made the purchases.

Last Friday, we received the delivery. With excitement, we got into small groups and presented our special gifts to all the dedicated teachers and staff. Holding the gifts, they all expressed their thanks and best wishes to us. Every day for the past three years, we have enjoyed interesting lessons, delicious meals, and a clean and safe campus. It is their hard work and devotion that has helped us become responsible people.

Graduation will come and go, but the love for our school will last a lifetime.

Last weekend, I accompanied two exchange students to the Great Wall, which proved to be a very pleasant trip.

Early on Saturday morning, we got on the bus happily. Everyone was excited, discussing what we had known about the Great Wall, including anecdotes and legends. Two hours later we got to our destination, and everyone couldn’t wait to start climbing. We spent the next few hours on the Great Wall, stopping from time to time to take photos and appreciate its magnificence as well as the breathtaking scenery around it. Then we went to the Great Wall Museum nearby. It contains exhibitions showing the history of the Great Wall and the social landscape along it, from which we got a better understanding of the Great Wall. Time passed quickly! It was noon before we knew it. Before leaving, we took a group selfie to record this unforgettable moment. Excitement was written on everyone’s face.

It was really an impressive trip and I really felt proud of this world wonder.
