Guardians of the Galaxy World Premiere

Red Carpet Interview:

Ronanis

a.On the Marvel Live Podium, live stream from this premiere straight to

you guys brought to you by Hasbro. And I had been told that Lee Pace who plays Ronanis making his way sown the carpet. Alright, um, we are talking seriously badass in the movie. Lee Pace is known to many people for his role in Pushing Daisies, Halt and Catch Fire, which is the current show that he is working on, and a couple of samallerfranchisessuch as the Hobbit, Twilight movies, so we are very excited to talk to hime about what has been like to join Marvel Cinematic Universe, and how that compares to working on some of these other franchises. And so, we are gonna ask him a couple questions about what it was like to play this incredibly intense character and bring this tree to the street for the very first time. Hi, there.

b.Nice to meet you.

a.Nice to meet you. My middle name is Lee.

b.Oh, cool. That’s a lot of people’s middle name.

a.I know. What’s up with that?

b.Yeah. It’s my first name.

a.Alright. Well, I’ll call you Lee.

b.That’s right. I’ll call you Lee too.

a.Alright. Please don’t. So ,what is it like to be at the crazy premiere?

You said in an interview, actually, this was the craziest movie-making experience you’ve been part of.

b.Yeah. It was pretty…crazy. I just kindagets crazier. I don’t know what

I was thinking all the way goes. It’s like oh yeah, I am going out till

late of the premiere of the movie. But I am here, and it’s like a close-down Hollywood Boulevard. There’s like, you know, fans all the way down the street. I mean it’s just like… it’s just like a big event. I don’t know what I was expecting. I just thought it would be just, ou know, the friends gather around watching the movie, but…wow. Well done. Marvel.

a.Well, it’s interesting cause you’ve been part of the two really big

franchises. You’ve been part of Twilight. You’ve been part of the Hobbit. So what are your thoughts at the time the Marvel Cinematic Universe and how was it, how was in been different into ending this rope?

b.Um, I mean, I’ve never, I mean, I guess I went to one of the Twilight

Premieres, but it didn’t got into any of the Hobbit premieres cause I was working. So it’s the first time I have been to one of these. I mean it’s massive. I mean it’s really really huge. I mean, I have loved working with Marvel. It’s such a creative place. I had such a great

time making this character. Really curious to see what the fans think about them.

a.You know, you’re talking to them right now.

b. Oh, hey guys.

a. Something else that, you know, I read in an interview about you when I was doing some of my researchs for this, you said that the roles that you take are those that you can’t get out of your head, that you can’t stop thinking about. So I am curious about, you know, when you’re considering talking the role of Ronan, what was it about him that just made you go “ yeah, that’s I, I am so into this guy”?

b. I , you know, he’s a complicated character and he’s changed a lot since he was first introduced in the late 60s. And I found that really interesting that he’s not, you know, a bad guy. I mean, he’s at odds with the protagonists of the story, but he’s really just an advocate for the Kree and the Kree’s laws. And he’s fighting for a…the justice of his people. And I find that interesting. You can find those parallels in our world today. This is, you know, I am bright blue. I am not gonna get too deep in, you know, serious about this cause I’m blue and I’ve, you know, fighting with my universal weapon. But, it’s useful to have those connections in your head, you know.

a. Absolutely. I mean, you need to ground the character in the realitythat works for you.

b. Yeah, yeah. I don’t know if you know. It’s just…I guess that is a laboratory that is in your brain, you kind of, you know, thinking about the character, thinking about the themes, thinking about the worlds. And it’s extra fun with something like this, that is, you know, nuts, that’s in the hands of James Gunn. In deep deep space.

a. Alright. Well, we hope you enjoy the rest of the madness tonight. Had a great time and congrats on the film.

b. Thanks so much. Thanks for talking to me.

a. You are welcome. We are trying to shake hands and it’s awkward. There we go. There’re Lees trying to shake hand.

b. Alright. Nice to see you.

a. Thank you. Great to see you too.

Star load

a.I am well, how are you?

b.Fine, thank you. Thank you so much. Nice to be here.

a.Great to be here. Great to be here with you. You are talking live to

the Marvel fans.

b.Oh really? How nice. They are like…um… they are right there?

a.They are right inside the camera.

b.Oh hi wow. How many are in there?

a.They are very very small.

b.Oh wow. Hey, no don’t tell anyone. Does anyone tell you that?

a.No. We are streaming live so this is Marvel live.

b.Okay.

a.Yeah so…Marvel, crazy, big, universe. What does it feel like being

a part of that for you?

b.Oh it feels great. I am just so happy to be part of the Marvel

universe.

a.And on top of that…I have to ask you. So in an interview with

Conan, I saw you talked about being an early job as coupon salesman, when you’ re at a ragtag bunch of coupon sellers, you’d load them into your minivan everyday. Do you think that set you to be the leader of the Guardians of the Galaxy?

b.Oh no doubt, my years of door to door salesman set me up to be

an actor at least. And I have thick skin. That’s for sure.

a.Excellent, and speaking of thick skin, you know you’re kind of a

rogue. What do you think make you the right character to be the leader of these guys?

b.Oh I am the right character because I am Star Lord. I am Peter

Quill.

a.Now you just keep saying that over and over trying to get people

to believe it right?

b.It’s the truth. Soon enough you’ll believe, you’ll know I am Star

Lord. Say it with me.

a.Ready? I am

b.No, I am. Not you are.

a.Oh. He is Star

b.Forget it.

a.His wife is over here, crakin’ up

b.This is my darling wife. Yes she’s here, isn’t she beautiful?

c.Oh boy. I am gonna have to call him Star Loard for the rest of his

life.

a.It never ends, does it? Once they get it into their heads?

c. Oh Star Lord honey, would you please pick your towels up off the bathroom floor?

b. No, I won’t.

a. You know, that question is have you gotten your small child to start calling him Star Lord or is he still stick him with daddy?

c. That would be historical if he starts calling you Star Lor

d.

b. Oh I hope he does. So dad dad is what he is calling me but soon it will be Star Lord or it will be hell to pay.

c. It would be amazing.

a. Now music obviously is huge huge part of this movie. What for you, what was the track that you really get you going?

b. oh man there are so many great songs in the sound track for this movie. I think “O-o-h children” that one is one of just moved me the

most. That was the one song that really got me going the most.

a. Got it. Alright, well, I wish I could talk with you guys forever, but there is…

c. You look beautiful by the way.

a. Oh thank you the dress designer is ***

c. Oh, it’s gorgeous.

a. Thank you.

c. It’s just gorgeous. I love the color. You look amazing in it.

b. Ask me who I’ am wearing.

a. Who are you wearing?

b. I am wearing a human whose name used to be Chris Pratt. Blahlahah

c. Oh that was awesome.

a. Oh, Star Lord. Thank you guys. Thanks so much.
