Female’s Family Role and Social Change

Women have long been regarded as indispensable members in the family Traditionally，mother has been associated with child—rearing and child care more than has the father．The traditional division of labor has the domestic roles(housekeeping，child care and child socialization)as the major domain of the wife—mother，and the provider role as the primary activity and responsibility of the husband—father．The traditional gender role divisions in the family have determined that marriage and family life are of great significance to American women．

In the old society of world, women, in general, were inferior to men.

Women’s first obligation was to take care of the whole family’s daily life. They did cooking, washing and cleaning, and made clothes and shoes. A more important task was to bring up the children.

Modern women have their own business, not just stay home laundry, cooking, and kids, not just blindly follow the man's words.

In modern society, women are equal to men. Although some discrimination to

women exists in the society, in most cases women are treated equally as men. Many opportunities are open to women. Women can strive for a rich life through her effort.

Women are playing an increasingly important role in our society. In many countries, more and more women are acting as workers, farmers, scientists and even leaders. With the changes in their social role, women’s position in their family has also been improved as well. Marriage is much more of their own choice. Husband and wife are now equal in the family. They cope with problems of daily life together and share happiness with each other.

And why American women can improve their status. There are two main reasons: one is the exterior cause (such as capitalist productive force, bourgeois ideology; the efforts of the government and non-government organizations; the guide from some literary wo rk), and another is the interior cause (women’s self-awareness; women’s emancipation movement and help from education).

I think women's changing role in society is divided into three stages:

The first stage, time is a matriarchal clan commune with women as the core of the era. At that time the low level of human technology, human beings are social life, the group leader is a smart, talented female compatriots, and the women leaders in the village has a supreme power and status.

The second stage, because many women's physical disadvantage (short

stature, small effort, etc.) resulted in change of status. In this long historical period, the great female compatriots who are living in the men inside to the shackles imposed. The social position of women is very low, and everywhere is full of unhealthy patriarchal.

The third stage, with the improvement in the level of human civilization, people's thinking began to change, and women are now awakening. Large-scale women's liberation movement outbreak in western，which is the pursuit of equality right between men and women . But this time the social status of women is still low. Until now in the modern society, the party and the government vigorously promote the idea of gender equality, women's status is rising, but still patriarchal feudal residues.

In the American history, American women have struggled for their own freedom and rights.

First Wave Feminism: 1900s–1920s. By 1900, suffragettes are campaigning heavily for voting rights. Also in the 1920s, feminism takes the form of alternative style trends such as flapper dresses and short haircuts, and “masculine” behaviors like smoking and drinking alcohol.

Second Wave Feminism: In the early 1960s, many middle- and upper-class white women begin to question their domestic roles.

Height of the Movement: 1970s. Challenge women’s attitudes toward the nuclear

family.

Third-Wave Feminism: In the 1990s, fierce abortion debates create deep partisan divisions about funding, counseling, late-term abortion, and the state’s “compelling” interest in potential human life.

Now women can get out of the boudoir, as the men access to education, employment and political rights. They can be economically independent, is no longer a vassal of men in family life, the status of women is no longer suppressed, so the men outside the women inside the conventional thinking is changing.

At last we can frankly say that women are imprisoned, the oppressed is no longer possible. Submissive is no longer the word of women, in my opinion modern woman's nature is smart, lively, healthy, gentle, strong.

Women struggle for their own rights, it is without rebuke, but now many feminists emphasize how men humiliate and persecute women in the history. They completely ignoring gender differences, and the aspect that the male how to love and take care of female, even think that women are more outstanding than men.

In my opinion about the female’s role and state in the family, a man and a woman, there are different, this distinction is not that who is more outstanding, who is even worse, just because different attributes makes a difference. We want

the feminist movement is men and women have equal status, but not the same position.

Feminists pay attention to those women only is a minority in the senior management, and they don't care about that more men are doing the dirty and hard work. And how many women are willing to accept this work, why they ignore these.

Feminists are some women who are oppressed by the life, but ambitious, but the woman like this are not so much. There are not only ambitious female politician, also many women just want to stay at home to enjoy family life in the world.

Some radical feminists in order to achieve equality with men continue to spread the wrong words "sexual liberation". It will cause the failure of the feminist movement

A healthy society, the relationship between men and women is the cooperation and harmony. "Feminist" advocate that social power should be given in accordance, men and women each control half of the virus theory, in fact these women make social gender opposition, will appeal a lot of unhappy "3S lady", and destroy these women's life.

Like family life, both men and women, want to have a happy life, must learn to compromise the other half. Extended to the community, the relations of men and

women should be the cooperation, rather than confrontation. In fact, most of the social power has nothing to do with gender, but related to personal ability. It is ridiculous that we give rights to men or women according to gender, is not feasible in practice.

Besides, problems about modern women liberation, we should consider how to define "liberation". If it is that all men and women average distribution in everywhere. The liberation cannot be achieved impossibly. Of course, on Objective Evaluation between men and women, modern women did not have enough power and status as men, and now there is still phenomenon that women are inferior to men. Perhaps that day, we have the same sex ratio, may realize the equality between men and women.
