四、语法

1. used to be与be used to

(1)used to没有现在时形式，可以用来表示一个已中断的习惯或者一个与现在相反的过去状况，后面接动词原形。其基本用法如下表：

(2)在口语中，used to的否定式和疑问顺式也可以用did来构成，这时used 还原成used 原形use。

例：他以前不走路去公司。He didn't use to walk to his company.

(3)used to还可以表示过去的例行活动或方式。这里不讲过去和现在的对比，仅描述过去某一时期的例行活动。这里的used to常可用would取代。

例：汤姆和玛丽是一对年轻的夫雪。每天早上汤姆都要亲吻玛丽，然后去上班。玛丽总站在窗前挥手告别。Tom and mary were a young couple.

(4)be used to(也可以说成get used to)和used to有着不同的含义和用法。be used to 意为“习惯于……”，有着各种时态变化。介词to后接名词、代词或动词-ing形式。

2. so...that...和such...that

(1)so...that...如此……以至于……。 so后常跟adj.或“adv.”；也可以跟so

many(few)+复数可数名词或so much(little)+不可数名词；that后跟句子。

例：小女孩那么聪明以至于人人都喜欢她。

[注意]so...that引导的从句如果是否定句，可以用too...to结构互换同义句；so...that 引导的从句如果是肯定句，可以与含enough的句子互换。

例：The question is so difficult that I can't answer it.= The questions is too difficult for me to answer.问题太难了，我不能回答。

(2)such...that如此……以至于。表达的意思与so...that...一样，区别是such后只能跟名词或名词词组：such a good boy如此好的男孩 such nice flowers如此漂亮的花例：It's such a heavy bag that he can't carry it.

= The bag is so heavy that he can't carry it. 包如此的重以至于他提不动。

3. so与such的区别

so与such二者都可以表示程度，意思为“如此，这般”。

(1)so为副词，用来修饰形容词或副词；such为形容词，用来修饰名词。

例：他跑得这么快。He runs so quickly.

(2)用于单数名词前位置不同，意思相同，句式为：such+a/an+形容词+名词；so+形容词

+a/an+名词。

例：这么炎热的一天。It was such a hot day. = It was so hot a day.

(3)如果不可数名词之前有much, little；复数名词之前有many, few等表示量的形容词时，用so而不用such。

例：他房间里有那么多书。There are so many books in his room.
