注意:but,however,yet,therefore,so,today,this day 在这些词后往往

玲薯”,human---people)

4. 对错选择——true not true

非文中也重复同样的词) !All of the above (以上全是)除外A and b。

相对原则,即有may, might, can, could, likely,

sometimes, some, usually,probably

(4)注意下列词为否定词It is wrong 错误的It’s a mistake 错误的

little, few, never 决不no longer 不再There is little water in the cup.

There are few students in the classroom.

this day, now, so, yet, therefore, however

(示例一) _______________________ 这是一个发生在西藏(zàng cáng)的故事。 1、请给本文加上一个标题,写在文前的“____________________ ”上。

It happened to me recently that I was telling someone how much I had enjoyed reading Barack Obama’s Dreams From My Father and how it had changed my views of the current US President. The person I was ta lking to agreed with me that it was, in his words,“a wonderfully written book .”However, he then proceeded to talk about Mr Obama in a way that suggested he had no idea of his background at all. I sensed that I was talking to a book liar. And it seems that he is not the only one. Clearly two thirds of people have lied about reading a book which they haven’t . In The World Book Day survey, Dreams From My Father is at number 9. The survey lists top ten books, and various authors, which people have lied about reading. As I’m not one to lie too often, I’ll admit here and now that I haven’t read the entire ten books. But I am pleased to say that I have read the book at number one, George Orwell’s 1984.I think it’s absolutely outstanding. Asked why they lied, the most common reason was to impress someone they were speaking to . This could be difficult if the conversation became more in-depth ! The World Book Day survey also has some other interesting information in it. It shows that many people lie about having read classical works by Jane Austen, the Bronte sisters, Charles Dickens and so on. But when asked which authors they actually enjoy, they named JK Rowling, Jilly Cooper, and Stephen King (ah, the big sellers, in other words). Forty-one percent of people asked admitted they turned to the back of the book to read the end before finishing the story. So which books have you lied about reading—if any—and which is your favourite? 56.The main reason why people lie about reading is to A.make fun of the listener B.impress the listener C.please the listener D.interest the listener 57.The underlined word“proceeded”in the passage probably means“” A.wanted B.happened C.continued D.stopped

In a world as fast-changing and full of information as our own, all of us need to know how to learn well. Yet evidence suggests that most of us don’t use the learning techniques that science has proved the most effective. The scientific literature evaluating these techniques goes back to decades and across thousands of articles. It’s far too extensive and complex for the average parent, teacher or employer to look through. Fortunately, a team of five leading psychologists have done the job for us. Professor John Dunlosky and other psychologists closely examined 10 learning strategies and rated each from high to low utility(实用) on the basis of the evidence they’ve gathered. Here’s part of their conclusions: In contrast to familiar practices, the effective learning strategies with the most evidence to support them aren’t well known outside the lab. Take distributed practice, for example. This strategy involves spreading out your study time, rather than engaging in one marathon. Cramming (死记硬背)information at the last minute may allow you to get through that test or meeting, but the material will quickly disappear from your memory. It’s much more effective to look through the material at intervals over time. And the longer you want to remember the information, whether it’s two weeks or two years, the longer the intervals should be. The second learning strategy that is highly recommended by Dunlosky is practice testing. Yes, more tests---but there not for a grade. Research shows that the mere act of calling information to mind strengthens that knowledge and aids in future retrieval (检索). While practice testing is not a common strategy---despite the strong evidence supporting it ---there is one familiar approach that captures its benefits: using flash cards. And now flash cards can be presented in digital form. Both distributed practice and practice testing were rated as having “high utility”by Dunlosky. 51. How did the psychologists study and rate the learning strategies? A. By analyzing the materials gathered in the past years. B. By asking some students questions about their study. C. By doing some experiments on the objects in the lab. D. By asking parents and teachers to look through the articles. 52. The underlined word “extensive”in Para. 2 means _____. A. small in amount B. easy or quick to do C. more than is needed D. dealing with a lot of information 53. About distributed practice and practice testing, it’s true that _____. A. many students have benefited a lot from them B. they were first put forward by John Dunlosky C. only a small number of experts know about them D. psychologists are studying whether they are effective 54. The strategy of distributed practice shows that ______. A. we should not study for long hours every day B. reviewing what we have studied is of little help C. the shorter the interval is, the better we’ll study D. doing repetition at intervals is the best way 55. The evidence shows that the strategy of practice testing ______. A. is a way to use flash cards to help study B. is mainly used to help us remember well C. helps know about students’grades in time D. is a way widely used to strengthen memory

阅读第课 1.(06 安徽A) When a storm is coming, most people leave the area as quickly ad possible and head for safety. But there are a few people who will get into their cars and go straight for the center of the storm. These people are willing to risk(冒…危险)being killed by floods or 100-kilometer-an-hour winds for the excitement of watching the storm close up. “Storm chasing(追逐)” is becoming an increasingly popular hobby(喜好), especially in the Midwest of the United States, where there are frepuent storms between March and July. A storm chaser begins the day by checking the Internet for the latest weather reports, and then drives up to 1,000 kilometers to where the storm will be and wits for it to develop. Although anyone can do it , storm chasing is extremely dangerous. The power of a big storm can throw a cow into the air or destroy a whole house in seconds. Storm chasers are also often hurt in accidents caused by driving in a heavy rain. If you are a beginner, it is much safer to join a group for storm-chasing vacations during the storm season. Even then, storm chasing is not all adventure and excitement . “Storm chasing is 95% driving,” says Daniel Lynch, who spends most of his summer storm-chasing. “Sometimes you can sit around for hours waiting for something to happen, and all you get is blue sky and a few light showers.” However, for storm chasers, it is all worth it. “When you get close to a storm, it is the most exciting sight you will ever see in your life,” says Jasper Morley. “Every storm is an example o f the power of nature, It is the greatest show on Earth.” 56. For storm chasing, the first thing storm chasers do is to . A: head straight for the center of the storm B: get into the car for safety C: wait patiently for the storm to develop D: collect information about a coming storm 57. Beginners of storm chasing are advised . A not to drive in a heavy rain B to do it in an organized way C not to get too close to a storm D to spend more time on it in summer 58. By sa ying “it is all worth it” in the last paragraph, the author means that .
