Dear Director ,

I am writing to apply for the WTO internship programme which is posted on the WTO website. Please find enclosed the following documents for my application:

1. A completed application form;

2. A copy of my CV .

I am a BCL student at the University of Oxford and will finish my studies this summer . The BCL is a highly demanding postgraduate course, but rewarding as it is providing me with a deeper understanding of the field in which I wish to practise, namely trade and commercial law in an international context. It has also added my interest in pursuing a legal career with an international organization.

What attract me to the WTO internship programme are your international standing and reputation, and the multilateral trading working environment. An internship with the WTO would certainly help me to gain deeper knowledge about the work of WTO and develop my professional as well as non-professional skills.

Thank you for processing my application. If any more material is required, please contact me directly. I look forward to hearing from you.

Yours faithfully,

Peter Halford

汉英 敬启者:Dear Sir,(英)/Gentlemen:(美)注意英语标点和字母大写形式 谨上Yours faithfully,(英)/Sincerely yours,(美) 函悉be in receipt of… 兹复in reply/answer to... 请告之Please let us know... 兹谈及referring to/as regards… 兹介绍This is to introduce... 特此奉告wish to inform 顺告For your reference,[句首用语] 一俟收到upon the receipt of... 承蒙好意through the courtesy of... Thank you in advance for... We are in receipt of your letter of Sept. 8. We acknowledge your letter of Sept. 8.

5.3 Words and phrases used in the 1.be interested in “be interested in”这一短语在日常英语中表示的是“对某事感兴趣”,但在外贸信件中,这一短语被广泛应用,并逐渐获得了一种新的含义。 1)We would be interested in receiving your inquiries for all types of Electric Goods. 2)Should you be interested(if you are interested in) in supplying(supply goods), we would be more than(very) pleased to enter into(establish) business activities with you. 3)We are interested in(欢迎) your “Sea Gull” brand woman’s wrist watches and shall be glad if you should make us an offer(报盘) for 1000 pieces with details. 1) We highly appreciate your effort in pushing the sale of our slippers. appreciate sth. 2) We would appreciate(please) your sending us a catalogue of your Rubber Boots together with terms of payment and the largest discount you can allow. appreciate doing没有完成,委婉的请求。 3)I would very much appreciate it if you could take our suggestion into consideration. 4) We shall appreciate it if you will forward(please send) the following goods to the above address at your earliest convenience(as soon as possible). appreciate it if/ be appreciated 5)Your inquiries for all types of electric goods would be appreciated. 6)Houses in this area have all appreciated since the new road was built. 7)Because the company has been making large profits the market value of its shares is appreciating. 3. be subject to 1) The treaty is subject to ratification批准. (双重否定) 2)This contract is binding subject to the fulfillment of the following conditions.
