翻译女神张璐：如何成为优秀的外交翻译
做好外交政治翻译，第一位的是政治敏感性 这是做好政治和外交翻译的生命，如果这条准线把握不住，即使语言基础再好、翻译技巧再高，恐怕也难以胜任。 如何向巴基斯坦翻译“请神容易送神难”？ 在现实工作中考验一个翻译政治敏感度的情况，甚至圈内所谓的“陷阱”无处不在，必须格外小心。比如，一次中方发言人提到中国有句俗语叫“请神容易送神难”，这句话中国人理解起来没有任何困难，翻译起来难度也并不大。但对方来自巴基斯坦，这是就需要考虑宗教因素的影响，瞬间决定要直译还是意译。如果打算直译，那么问题来了，这里的“神”该怎么译，是译成God还是Lama？当然都不合适，还是需要结合巴基斯坦当地的宗教信仰进行翻译。 这种场合对翻译就是一种很大的考验，当时译者处理得非常妥当，采用了中性词汇加以代替：divinity。张璐认为这种情况也虚化、意译一下：It might be easier to invite someone to live inrather than ask him to leave。因为讲话是有上下文的，所以不必过多纠结于某个句子，考验在于翻译脑海中可能处理了很多相关的信息来决定哪个是最恰当的。这只是外交翻译的一个缩影。 为何有人说翻译司译文死板？ 或许有人觉得翻译司的译文抠得很死，对应得很严密，但这是必须付出的代价。比如今年6月中国股市出现了动荡，外国主流媒体谈及股市动向时用的词汇是volatility、turmoil等，而国内主流媒体则采用了“异常波动（unusual fluctuations）”的表述，于是我们就需要掂量一下“波动”的翻译方法。所以对现场的翻译来说，即使外电的词再准确，恐怕也不适合使用，因此笔译口译的稿件都是按照中文的异常波动直接对译。看似比较Chinglish，实则不然，因为外媒也非常关注中国 领导人使用怎样的词汇给事件定性。 又如涉及中美关系时老生常谈的“高度重视”，一般翻译为attach great importance to，但也有人译成attach utmost importance to，显然有些过。这个短语的翻译体现了你对中国整体的外交政策是否了解，与发展中国家、欧盟、周边国家等的关系如何，这些决定了这个短语的翻译程度。
