Perhaps one of the greatest inventions of our time is the Internet. In the last decade the Internet has grown from a dream into the most advanced reality. Without a doubt, the net has a profound effect on almost every aspect of our world. It plays a important role both in business and in society as a whole. The Internet brings companies more convenience, more ways, and more efficiency. It can make our life and our environment better.
Firstly, the Internet has changed the way that people do business, because it can give companies more convenience and bring companies more style. On one side, the Internet improves the relationship between companies. The e-commerce is popular and is spread all over the world. The Institute for Telecommunication Sciences defines e-commerce as “A way of doing real-time business transactions via telecommunications networks, when the customer and the merchant are in different geographical places.”(ITS,2009) The e-commerce makes more convenience for companies. On the other side, Internet brings companies many new styles. People need not go to company and they can work at home by the internet. So there are more and more online store set up by people. They can sell and buy the goods and products online. “Most of the biggest online retailers are traditional shops or mail-order groups Multi-channel strategy that links a website, shops and mail-order catalogue” (Unitec,2009,P8) The Internet changed the business and brings workers more convenient , more comfort, and more way.
Secondly,the Internet improves efficiency of work. The Internet helps companies reduce cost,save time,and make better quality products. Coca-cola is a very successful company. Now it controling the production and selling by the Internet. That ruduce coca almost half of the cost and promote the efficiency. When the Internet used by the companies,the cost of companies are less. Less cars used by workers, less papers wasted by people, less money used of connecting with others, and less people needed by companies. The Internet also helps companies save time. When the workers connect with others and receive news, the Internet helps them make it just one minute. Besides, through the use of internet, it achieves ”a plann ed, organized and efficient manner to expand their customer base, improve
customer satisfaction, maintaining customer and other market conduct.” (Introduction to telemarketing, 2009)
Thirdly,the formation of the Internet has changed the lives of people. First, it is very convenient for the daily life of people. When people need something, they can shop online. They can buy poor but quality goods in the online store. People can connect with others by e-mail or some online tools like QQ. Second, from the Internet people can get much information.Students can read many useful books and search many news, they can learn more from net. More information and entertainment is provided. Baidu is one of the biggest website in China. People can browse news, search information, ask some questions, listen to music, and watch films on it. Now many new websites is founded, which can bring people more information. In addition, it can guarantee that people work-life balance, the staff at home have more time to spend with their families at the same time be able to work and rest, workers in order to make greater efforts for the company to obtain a better return.
Finally,the internet plays a positive role in the environment. Now more and more people are shopping and working a t home by the internet. “Large retailing groups are spending money on Internet offering but room for new on-line companies to start up. 56% of homes had internet access, one third had broadband” (Unitec, 2009,P15).It can not only save their time and money,but also reduce pollution. People work and shop at home by computers,so they
do not drive cars to go to the destination.So the air pollution is reducted. Many companies do not need workplaces, so it reduces the land occupation.Now more and more people use the computers instead of papers. It keeps the trees from cutting. Without a doubt,the internet makes our environment better.

At first glance, the essay may seem just fine. The grammar and mechanics are solid, and the writer clearly wants to expand his or her education and become a well-rounded person. But think about what the prompt is actually asking: "discuss why you consider Duke a good match for you. Is there something in particular at Duke that attracts you?" The assignment here is not to describe why you want to go to college. The admissions office is asking you to explain why you want to go to Duke. A good response, then, must discuss specific aspects of Duke that appeal to the applicant. The sample essay fails to do so.
