I am humble to stand before all of you here today. I know that some of you have been fighting and doing advocacy work that stems all the way back to the Stone Wall Riots. And I salute you. And you know I love Judy Garland. I'm also inspired by the masons of all the young people here today. The younger generation, my generation!
We are the ones coming up in the world. And we must continue to push this movement forward and close the gap. We must demand full equality for all. They say that this country is free, and they say that this country is equal. But it is not equal I'm afraid sometimes.
Obama, I know that you're listening. Are you listening!!!!!
We'll continue to push you and your administration to bring your words and promise to a reality. We need CHANGE now. We demand actions now. And to Barney Frank, we're putting more than pressure on this grass. Today this grass is ours.
We will come away today and continue to do the work, in our own backyards. With our local politicians.
And just for my backyard. As a woman in pop music, as a woman with the most beautiful gay fans in the whole world. To do my part, I refuse to accept any misogynistic and homophobic behavior in music, lyrics or actions in the music industry!

The expansion of trade hasn't fully closed the gap between those of us who live on the cutting edge of the global economy and the billions around the world who live on the knife's edge of survival. This global gap requires more than compassion. It requires action. Global poverty is a powder keg that could be ignited by our indifference. In his first inaugural address, Thomas Jefferson warned of entangling alliances. But in our times, America cannot and must not disentangle itself from the world. If we want the world to embody our shared values, then we must assume a shared responsibility. If the wars of the 20th century, especially the recent ones in Kosovo and Bosnia, have taught us anything, it is that we achieve our aims by defending our values and leading the forces of freedom and peace. We must embrace boldly and resolutely that duty to lead, to stand with our allies in word and deed, and to put a human face on the global economy so that expanded trade benefits all people in all nations, lifting lives and hopes all across the world. Third, we must remember that America cannot lead in the world unless here at home we weave the threads of our coat of many colors into the fabric of one America. As we become ever more diverse, we must work harder to unite around our common values and our common humanity. We must work harder to overcome our differences. Before I begin, I just want to note a breakthrough that we’ve had on our efforts to pass the most comprehensive（综合的，广泛的） reform of Wall Street since the Great Depression. Three Republican senators have put politics and partisanship 1 aside to support this reform, and I'm grateful for their decision, as well as all the Democrats 2 who’ve worked so hard to make this reform a reality -- particularly Chairman Dodd and Chairman Barney Frank. What members of both parties realize is that we can’t allow a financial crisis like this one that we just went through to happen again. This reform will prevent that from happening. It will prevent a financial crisis like this from happening again by protecting consumers against the unfair practices of credit card companies and mortgage lenders（抵押放贷者） . It will ensure that taxpayers 4 are never again on the hook for Wall Stree t’s mistakes. And it will end an era of irresponsibility that led to the loss of eight million jobs and trillions of dollars of wealth. This reform is good for families; it’s good for businesses; it’s good for the entire economy. And I urge the Senate to act quickly so that I can sign it into law next week.

A New Chapter in China’s Story Bill Clinton Thank you for the key to your city and for this magnificent welcome. Here in this ancient capital, China seems very young to me tonight, blessed with both a proud history and the promise of tomorrow. I’m delighted to begin my journey in Xi’an, once the capital of China, still the heartland of the Chinese people. I was raised in the heartland of my country. I know that the character of a nation is determined by the hard-working people who live here. Over 1,000 years ago, during the Tang Dynasty, which I have seen recreated tonight, Xi’an was, perhaps the most open and culturally advanced city in the entire world. From this place, trade routes extended through Asia to Europe and Africa. And to this place, great thinkers came, spreading philosophy and new ideas that have contributed to the greatness of china. Tomorrow, I look forward to seeing the terracotta warriors, the old city walls, the Muslim quarter. I look forward to learning more about china's great contributions to the store of human knowledge from medicine and printing, to mathematics and astronomy, discoveries on which so much of the whole world progress is based and I want to see more of the new nation you are building on a scale even the emperors could not have foreseen. China that gave us printing now boasts fax machines, computers and cell phones. Xi’an is home to film makers, internet explorers and business people of every description. Here in this city, famous for calligraphy, a new chapter in china's story is being written. We Americans admire your accomplishments, your economy, your hard work, creativity and vision, your efforts against hunger and poverty, your work with us on peace and stability in Korea and south Asia. A new day is dawning for the Chinese people, for china's greatness lies as always with its people. Our own history has convinced Americans that the greatness of any country is measured in its people, in their shared reverence for family and community, for work and learning, and in their individual thoughts, beliefs, and creativity. In this global information age where both economic growth and individual opportunity are based on ideas, a commitment to providing all human beings the opportunity to develop their full potential is vital to the strength and success of the new china as well. As I travel across china, I hope to learn as much as I can about the Chinese people, your history, and your dreams for the future. And I hope to help the Chinese people understand more of American’s history, the lessons the American people have drawn from it, and the dreams we hold for the 21st century.
