Unit 2 Great People

1.能够读懂有关名人的文章,明白文章主旨大意和掌握文章结构。

2.能够掌握并运用before,after引导的时间状语从句,和who,that引导的定语从句进行表达。

3.能够用英语描写自己心目中的偶像。

培养学生的口语交际能力,能够流利地用英语谈论伟大人物及生平。

教学突破:突出口语表达,谈论伟人和他们的生活。能听懂并读懂有关伟人事迹的文章,并能描写自己心目中的偶像。

注意方法与价值观的培养:who和that引导的定语从句采用归纳总结的方法,使知识系统化。口语练习采用Pair work和Group work相结合的方式,谈论伟人及其生活。让学生能够了解生命的意义,做一个对社会有贡献的人。

Albert Einstein profoundly changed how we think about space and time.Einstein’s teachers probably had no clue what a famous man he would one day become,but contrary to what you might read on some older web pages out there,he was a good student.At age 12 Einstein had taught himself geometry.And his grades were good,according to those who’ve studied his archives.“See also our overview of famous astronomers and great scientists from many fields who have contributed to the rich history of discoveries in astronomy.”

Here is a brief biography of Einstein:

At 16,Einstein is said to have failed an exam that would have let him train to become an electrical engineer.He left school apparently because he couldn’t handle the strict discipline and authority.In 1905,Einstein got his PhD and wrote a paper on the topic now called The Special Theory of Relativity.

Einstein was more than just a mathematician and a theorist.He played the violin.He travelled widely.And he said some really interesting things.
