JMB393(QFN64) Hardware Easy RAID Demo Board User’s Manual 2008/10/7

1. SATA Connectors

PORT5 will be connected to PC host, while PORT0/1/2/3/4 will be connected to SATA devices.

2. INPUT (power) jumper group: J10 & J11.

If the power comes from PC power supply(CN1), 5V jumper in both J10 & J11 should be set.

If the power comes from PCI Express slot(J2), 3.3V jumpers in both J10 & J11 should be set. Please note that PCI Express gold fingers are just for power input. No signals come from these gold fingers.

NOTICE!!! For simplicity, we recommend you just use JMicron JMB39X_32X RAID Manager AP for RAID

configuration and monitoring, … etc. All of the jumper setting information below could be neglected then.

3. RESET group: SW1 & J

Do not care.

4. RAID mode SET group: J17, J16, J15, SW2, & J18

J17, J16, J15 & SW2: RAID mode selecting jumpers

2.) If you would like to change RAID mode by J17, J16 & J15 setting, you should keep pressing SW2 after power-on. Only after

computer system completes booting successfully, you could release SW2.

3.) Before any RAID mode change, you have to clear RAID by setting (J17, J16, J15, SW2) to be (H, H, H, Pressed)

as the procedure shown in item 2.).

4.) J18: Easy jumper.

H (default): If this DEMO BOARD is set to RAID 1/3/5/10 and an RAID hard disk gets defective, user can replace the

defective hard disk with another good hard disk . JMB393 will rebuild RAID system automatically.

L : If this DEMO BOARD is set to RAID 1/3/5/10 and an RAID hard disk gets defective, user could insert another good

disk .However, JMB393 will rebuild RAID system just according to user’s request thru application program.

* In RAID 1/3/5/10 mode, when a RAID hard disk is removed for some reason and then this RAID hard disk is plugged in again, the system will be rebuilt automatically despite of the setting of J18.
