Lesson Plan Presentation

Good morning, everyone,

Today, it’s a pleasure for me to stand here and I’m very pleased to have such an opportunity to share some of my teaching ideas with you. First, let me introduce myself. My name isHu Hongxia , an English teacher from Jiaotang Middle School.

The lesson plan I’m going to present is from section A of Go For It! Grade 8A Unit5 “Do you want to watch a game show?” I’d like to explain it from the following six aspects.

Part One——Analysis of the Teaching Material

One: Status and Function

1.The topic of unit 5 is to talk about “Entertainment”. This is the

first period of section A .The goals of section A are to give

opinions and talk about preferences about TV shows.

Students have learned some names of shows and the

structure “think of ” before, so it will be easier to lead in new

kinds of shows and ways of asking for opinions. Besides

learning this, students will also learn how to make plans.

2.Such a topic is very important in this unit. We know that interest

is the best teacher for students. So I will lead the students to

use their imagination and encourage them to be creative. For

example, using a magic to catch their attention. So I think if

the students can learn this lesson well, it will be helpful to

make them learn the rest of this unit. it will be also helpful to

improve their spoken language.

Two: Teaching Aims and Demands

1. Knowledge objects

(1) To know words about entertainment and know how to describe

different game shows.

(2) To learn and master the p hrase “think of, don’t mind …,”, etc.

2. Ability objects

(1) To express your likes and dislikes.

(2) To train the students’ ability of working in pairs.

(3) To develop the students’ abilities of communication by learning the useful structures.

3. Moral objects

(1)To encourage the students to have interests and make good use of time .

(2) To know about the fashion.

Three: Teaching Keys and Difficult Points

1. Key points:

(1).Be able to express words, phrases and sentences in English.

(2).Talk about preferences.

2. Difficult points:

Infinitives used as object :to do

Part Two——The Teaching Methods

I want to make the students the real masters in class while the teacher himself acts as a director. I also hope to combine the language structures with the language functions and let the students receive some moral education while they are learning the English language .So I use the methods as follows:

1. Communicative teaching method;

2. Audio-visual teaching method;

3. Task-based teaching method;

4. Classified teaching method. Part Three——Studying ways

Teach the students how to be successful language learners.

Part Four——Teaching Procedure

As this lesson plays an important part in the English teaching of this unit, I have decided the following steps to train their ability of listening and speaking .The entire steps are:

Step1. Lead in

Here I’ll use PPT to play an English song called “Dad , where are we going ?”for the students and I’ll ask them to sing together. By this, the students can be interested in it and pay their attention to our class easily and improve their ability of speaking.

(Purpose :To arouse the students’interests in studying English and make them relaxed. Also, create a good English learning atmosphere and bring in the topic of TV shows . ) Step2. Presentation

1. Show some pictures of TV shows to learn the new words and show the teaching material 1a.,check the answers together and students read them loudly.

(Purpose :By observing the pictures , students can learn the new words directly. Arouse the students’ interest and enable the students master the new words easily and quickly.)

3.Present different faces and the words love, like, don’t like, don’t mind and can’t stand. Ask students to match the words with the faces. (Purpose: Use pictures to help students overcome the difficulty of understanding the target language.)

Step3.Practise

Play a game : One acts , and the others guess his preferences according to his expressions. In this way, Ss can practice the words and the sentences: what do you think of…? I can’t stand, I don’t mind…

(Purpose: To create a more active and interesting class, make the students take part in the activity. Students will be happy to try and be interested in the game. Train the students’ability of speaking and team work..)

Step4. Listening

1.Listen to 1b. Find out what Mark say about TV shows and write a letter from1a.

2.Listen again. Let the students listen and imitate the text. Pay attention to their pronunciation and intonation.

(Purpose: Help students develop the listening skil l—listen for key words and get further understanding of the target language through listening. At the same time let the students have a chance to practise their listening and speaking ability.)

Step5. Pairwork

Activity1: Present some CCTV shows and ask students to match the English names with the Chinese.

Activity2. Let students work in pairs. Two students make conversations like:

A: What do you want to watch?

B: I don’t mind

A: What do you think of …?

(Purpose: Practice more and get further understanding of sentences)

Part Five——Summarize and Homework

Ask the students such questions:

What do you think of this lesson?

Review the sentences again .Then show them some exercises and help them to finish them.

At last, tell the students what today’s homework .

Part Six——Blackboard Designing
