第一节

A

1.【考点】细节理解题【答案】B【解析】根据第一段末while 1ooking for a house for me and our children可知,Rashid打算到悉尼给作者和孩子找房子。

At last they had seen a half-written letter-to a friend可知我丈夫把新的电话号码写在了一封末完成的给他朋友的信里。

5.【考点】细节判断题【答案】C【解析】由第一段第二句we didn’t know at that time that there even was an environment, let alone…

Business people…,and especially millions of grass-roots Americans are taking part in the movement.

Until we do that,nothing

else will change!“直到我们做了那些,情况才能改变。”that指前文提到的education programs for environment。

C

She didn’t want her children to miss out on their roots.“Because I am Chinese,my husband and I wanted the children to keep exposed to the language and culture.”

When paying with a Smart-rip?card,the fare is $1.25,可知用这个卡省钱。

23.【答案】D 【解析】根据“not only...but also...” 故选A。 C项干扰性很强,但是与原文第三段第二句“The number of cities producing CO beyond the standard has been reduced from 40 to 9.” 故选A。

Then he said they had found a pile of papers in their trash can(垃圾桶)that had been left out on the footpath. My husband rushed to their home to find a kind family holding all his papers and documents. Their young daughter had gone to the trash can and found a pile of unfamiliar papers. Her parents had carefully sorted them out, although they had found mainly foreign addresses on most of the documents. At last they had seen a half-written letter in the pile in which my husband had given his new telephone number to a friend. That family not only restored the important documents to us that day but also restored our faith and trust in people. We still remember their kindness and often send a warm wish their way.

Think again. Leasing can end up being just as expensive as buying. Most people think about leasing because they believe it will cost them less money. They're right-it is cheaper, but only in the short term. For example, if you were to lease anew Subaru Forester, you might pay $300 per month for the car. If you were to buy the same car, you would pay about $400 per month. Over a three-year, you would save $3600-a big savings. But after your lease is over, you have to give the car back. Many people want to lease because they can drive a more expensive car than they might otherwise be able to afford. For example, if you spend $300 monthly on a car, you might be able to lease a new Ford Explorer. For the same price, you might have to buy a used Explorer, or buy a new but much less expensive model. A lease, therefore, allows you to drive the latest models of more expensive cars. However, whatever car you can afford to buy you get to keep it, and it will always have a resell or trade-in(以新旧换)value if you want to upgrade to a new car later. Furthermore, people who lease cars are often shocked by how much they must pay when the lease is over . Most leases limit you to a certain number of miles. If you go over that, you must pay for each mile. As a result, you may end up paying thousands of dollars in mileage(里程) fees. In addition, when you lease ,you have to pay for regular maintenance and repairs to the vehicle. Since you must return the car finally, you are paying to repair someone else's car.
