II. Reading Comprehension (30%)

Questions 21 to 25 are based on the following passage

How much living space does a person need? What happens when his space requirements are not adequately met? Sociologists and psychologist are conducting experiments on rats to try to determine the effect of overcrowded conditions on man. Recent studies have shown that the behavior of rats is greatly affected by space. If rats have adequate living space, they eat well, sleep well, and reproduce well. However, if their living conditions become too crowded, their behavior patterns and even their health perceptibly change. They cannot sleep and eat well, and signs of fear and tension become obvious. The more crowded they are, the more they tend to bite each other and even kill each other. Thus for rats, population and violence are directly related. Is this a natural law for human society as well? Is adequate space not only desirable, but also essential for human survival?

21. This passage is mainly about _____.

A) living space and behavior C) interesting experiments on rats

B) population and living conditions D) a natural law for human society

22. What is the purpose of the experiments described in the passage?

A) To determine how much living space a rat needs.

B) To see what happens when rats live in a limited space.

C) To know the likely effects of inadequate living space on human beings.

D) To find out the relationship between population and living conditions.

23. Which is NOT a result of being too crowded for rats?

A) They become nervous. C) They eat less.

B) They cannot get enough rest. D) They become less active.

24. The passage suggests that overcrowded conditions _____.

A) are directly related with population C) may lead to high birth rate

B) may cause an increase in violence D) may bring about pollution problems

25. The author seems to imply that ______.

A) human society is very similar to that of rats

B) birth control is essential for a better life

C) efforts should be made to improve living conditions

D) rats are not social animals

Questions 26 to30 are based on the following passage

Let children learn to j udge their own work. A child learning to talk does not learn by being corrected all the time: if corrected too much, he will st o p talking. He notices a thousand times a day the di f ference between the language he uses and the language those around him. Bit by bit, he makes the necessary changes to make his language like other pe o ple's. In the same way, children learning to do all the other things they d o without being taught - to talk, run, climb, --whistle, ride a bicycle – compare their own performances with those of more skilled people, and slowly make the needed changes. But in school we never give a child a chance to find out his mistakes for himself, let alone correct them. We do it all for him. We act as if we thought that he would never notice a mistake unless it was pointed out to him, or correct it unless he was made to. Soon he becomes dependent on the teacher. Let him do it himself. Let him work out, with the help of other children if he wants it, wh a t this word says, what the answer is to that problem, whether this is a good way of saying or doing this or not.

If it is a matter of right answers, as it may be in mathematics or science, give him the answer book. Let him correct his own papers. Why should we teachers waste time on such routine work? Our job should be to help the child when he tell s us that he can’t find the way to get the right answer. Let's end all this nonsense of grades, examinations, marks. Let us throw them all out, and let the children learn what all educated persons must some day lea rn, how to measure their own understanding, how to know what they know or do not know.

Let them get on wi t h this job in the way that seems most sensible to them, with our help as school teachers if they ask for it. The idea that there is a body of knowledge to be learnt at school and used for the rest of one' s life is nonsense in a world as complicated and rapidly changing as ours. Anxious parents and teachers say,"But supp os e they fail to learn something essential, s o mething they will need t o get on in the world?" Don't w o rry! If it is essential, they will go out

into the world and learn it.

26. What does the author think teachers do which they should not do?

A) They give children correct answers.

B) They allow children to mark their own w o rk.

C) They point out children's mistakes to them

D) The encourage children to copy from one another.

27. Exams, grades and marks should be abolished(废除) because children' s pr o gress only be

estimated by ____.

A) the children themselves

B) teachers

C) parents

D) educated persons

28. What does the author think is the best way for children to learn things?

A) By making mistakes and having them corrected.

B) By listening to explanations from skilled people.

C) By copying what other people do.

D) By asking a great many questions.

29. The passage suggests that learning to speak and learning to ride a bicycle are ______.

A) not really important skills

B) basically the same as learning other skills

C) more important than other skills

D) basically different from learning adult skills

30. The author fears that children will grow up into adults who are ______.

A) unable to use basic skills

B) too dependent on others

C) too critical of themselves

D) unable to think for themselves

Questions 31 to 35 are based on the following passage

One hot night last July, when our new baby wouldn’t or couldn’t sleep, I tried everything I could think of: a warm bottle, songs, gentle rocking. Nothing could settle him. Guessing that I had a long night ahead of me, I brought a portable TV into his room, figuring that watching the late movie was as good a way as any to kill off the hours until dawn. To my surprise, as soon as the TV lit up, the baby quieted right down, his little eyes focused brightly on the tube. Not to waste an opportunity for sleep, I then walked softly out of the room, leaving him to watch the actors celebrate John Bellushi’s forty-fifth birthday.

My wife and I heard no more of the baby that night, and the next morning when I went into his room, I found him still watching TV himself.

I found in my baby’s behavior a symbol of the new generation. My wife and I had given him some books to examine, but he merely spit (吐唾沫) upon them. When we read to him, he did not feel comfortable. And so it is in the schools. We find that our students don’t read, that they look down upon reading and scold those of us who teach it. All they want to do is watch TV. After this

experience with the baby, I have reached a conclusion: “Let them watch it!” If television is that much more attractive to children than books, why should we fight it? Let them watch it all they want!

31. Why did the author bring a TV set into his son’s room?

A) To make his son keep quiet.

B) To spend the night by watching TV programs.

C) In order not to let his son feel lonely.

D) To make his son go to sleep as soon as possible.

32. The baby’s reaction to the TV program was ______.

A) unexpected C) exciting

B) encouraging D) calm

33. From the passage we know that author is ______.

A) a doctor C) an editor

B) a reporter D) a teacher

34. According to the passage, which is true of the school children?

A) They prefer reading to watching TV.

B) They like watching TV after school.

C) They would rather watch TV than read books.

D) They like their teachers who teach them reading.

35. What do you think is the author’s attitude towards TV expressed in the last two sentences?

A) Favorable. C) Not favorable.

B) Serious. D) Not serious.

The Two-day Weekend

Since the carrying out of the two-day weekend, college students have benefited a lot from it.

First, after five days' study, they are very tired. They can use the weekend to have a good rest.

Second, the two-day weekend provides them more chances to contact with the society , for

example, they can take a part-time job or go sightseeing. Third, they can use it to review the

lessons and preview what they will learn next week..

Every sword has two blades. Problems do exist in some college students' two-day weekend.

Some lazy students may spend most of the time sleeping, doing nothing else. Some may be

addicted to playing cards, drinking, leaving their homework far away. Therefore, the two-day

weekend can bring nothing useful to them.

As for me, I will make good use of the time to have a rest and develop my own hobbies, such

as reading, listening to music or playing sports. And I should prepare mysel f for the next week's

study.

二.问答题(40分) 1.一台变压器Hz f N 50=,v U N 220=,当它接到频率为Hz f 25=,电压为 v U 110=的电源上运行时,问:励磁电流,铁耗,一、二次侧漏抗,负载能力如何变化? 为什么?(8分) 答:由式m fN E U Φ=≈11144.4可知,前后两种情况主磁通相同。从磁路欧姆定律知,励 磁电流不变。主磁通未变,磁密不变,频率减小,则铁耗减小(3 .12f B p m Fe ∝)。一、二 次侧的漏电抗随频率的减小成正比减小。另外,二次侧感应电动势比原来减少一倍,故负载能力减小一倍。 2.变压器在额定电压和额定频率的电源下空载运行时,当频率保持不变,电源电压增加到1.1N U ,励磁电抗和铁耗如何变化,为什么?若变压器二次侧短路,励磁电抗和铁耗如何变化,为什么?(8分) .答:(1)此时主磁通增大,主磁路饱和程度增加,铁心磁导率减小,磁阻增大,由磁路欧姆定律知,励磁电流大大增加,反映在等效电路中就是励磁电抗减小。(2)二次侧短路,二次侧电流大大增加,由磁动势平衡知一次侧电流也大大增加,再从一次侧电压平衡方程式知,电压U 1不变,漏阻抗压降大大增加,则电动势E 1减小很多,主磁通随之减小,可知励磁电抗有所增加。 计算题(30分) 3.已知一台两极直流电机,主磁极不加励磁电流,只在电刷通以直流电流且电枢以一定的转速旋转,问电枢导体是否感应电动势、电刷两端的感应电动势为多少?为什么?(8分) 答:此时气隙磁密友电枢磁动势单独产生,而正、负电刷间导体电流的大小和方向不变,故气隙磁密相对于定子时静止的,旋转的电枢导体切割此气隙磁密而感应电动势。电刷两端的感应电动势为零,因正、负电刷间(支路间)导体感应电动势彼此抵消了。从辜承林教材 图2.35可清楚的知道这一点。 4.一台直流发电机,定子为6极,电枢绕组为单叠型式。正常运行时有三对电刷,如保持额定运行时转速及励磁电流不变,因故去掉一对电刷,忽略电枢反应的影响,试分析电机可能发出的最大功率。(8分) 答:单叠绕组的并联支路数为2p ,故原来有6条并联支路数,去掉相邻一对电刷后,支路数变为4条,其中三条是原来的,另一条由原来的三条支路串联而成。 正常运行时,a a a i ai I 62== ;

He was acknowledging one of our most distinctive characteristics:the fact that we are social animals whose behavior and personalities are shaped by the groups to which we belong. Throughout life, most of our daily activities are performed in the company of others. Whether our purpose is working, playing, raising a family, learning,or simply relaxing,we usually pursue it in groups, even if the group is as small as two or three people. Out need for human contacts is not merely a practical one;it is a deep psychological need as well. If people are deprived of the company of others for prolonged periods, mental breakdown is the usual result. Even the Geneva Convention(日内瓦公约),an international agreement that regulates the treatment of prisoners of war, recognizes this need. It regards solitary (孤独的)imprisonment for more than thirty day as a cruel form of torture(折磨)。 In its strictest sense, a group is a collection of people interacting together in an orderly way on the basis of shared expe ctations about one another‘s behavior. As result of this interaction, members feel a common sense of“belonging.”They distinguish members from nonmembers and expect certain kinds of behavior from outsiders. 21.By“No man is an island,”John Donne means _____. A.no one can live on an island alone B.a man is not surrounded by sea on all sides C.a man and an island are irrelevan D.no one can live in isolation from other people 22.The fact that we work or even play in groups illustrates the point that ____. A.poeple are different from animals B.Donne recognized the group to which he belonged C.human beings are social animals D.human behavior and personalities are formed by others 23.“Breakdown”as used in Line 6,Paragraph 2 most probably denotes ____. A.separation B.collapse C.analysis D.function 24.According to the passage, what is NOT a characteristic of group? A.There are at least two people in it. B.The members share some common grounds. C.The members work for one purpose. D.The members interact regularly with each other. 25.This passage is mainly about _______.

直流電機 一、选择 1直流并励电动机的输出功率等于: ⑴UN*IN*ηN; ⑵UN(IN-If);⑶UN*IN。
