What Should the Media Focus More on?

I think the media pay too much attention to the private life of famous people. TV, newspaper and the Internet are full of reports on public figures(公众人物)and stars. Scandals, mistakes and rumors are all fresh materials（新鲜的素材）for the media. They usually highlight（聚焦、关注）violence and criminals so as to obtain high ratings（高收视率）and attention. It seems that the media have misled the public. From my point of view, I believe that the media should pay more attention to the following issues. First,people’s livelihood（民生）should be the focus. The media must care about the ordinary people’s life. This is the true reflection of the development of a country. The stories of ordinary people are not definitely unimpressive.

Second, the media should pay more attention to the foreign affairs and international situations（国际动态）. This is very useful, because it helps us understand what is happening outside our

country, and we may prepare for the changes. Reports on disasters and diseases will force people to establish a sense of crisis and sympathy（危机意识和同情观念）. For example, the earthquake in Haiti and the heavy snow in America will alarm people to c herish lives（珍惜生命）and protect the nature.

In summary, the media should not pay much attention to the private life of celebrities（名人）. The ordinary life and international situations are more valuable.

TV commercials have become a popular business model in our daily life. How do you think of this phenomenon? Write a composition about 200 words on the following topic:

A Major Advantage/ Disadvantage of TV Commercials

In such information-based society, TV commercials play an increasingly important role——to spur(激励，刺激) the business world to function well. The business would slow down or even halt（停止，停滞）without TV commercials in three aspects: the merchant, the audience and the TV station.

The first aspect of the TV commercials is concerned with merchants, who like to make their products known in order to get profits. It is well acknowledged that a key product（主打产品）needs not only quality but popularity, which can be created largely by TV commercials. The second aspect is the audiences, who rarely have any idea about dazzling（眼花缭乱的，琳琅满目的）goods on the shelves. Among all the different goods available, they choose the one most familiar. TV commercials give audience, the potential customers, clear and direct advice on trying new things. It also brings benefits to the media,

In a word, no one can deny the critical role TV commercials play in business, in modern society, and in our life. Since the public has their own tastes and choices, TV commercials just offer more information on better goods and services and more choices.

In some people’s eyes, pop music is always in sharp contrast to the so-called “lofty music”like classic music. Others hold the idea that music should not be labeled high or low. What’s your point of view? Write a composition of about 200 words on the following topic:

Pop Music

Nowadays, people are more indulged in(沉迷于) music. Pop music is praised highly（推崇）by young people. However, some people, especially the high class look down upon pop music. They think the classics such as opera and high-pitched voice（歌剧和高音）are elegant. From my perspectives, I think there is no distinction between different types of music. Pop music brings happiness to our life in its way.

Music should serve the people, no matter how decent or popular it is. I think pop music does its work better than those than those lofty music（高雅的音乐）, because a large part of our population listens to pop music almost everyday. Y ou may see people hold their MP3s or MP4s when you are on a bus or subway; travelers usually open their CDs in the car to enjoy a relaxing journey; shops will turn on their stereos（立体音响）daytime to attract customers.
