It’s undisputable that telephone is extremely important and convenient, playing a role as a bridge among people. In the ancient ages, the communication in remote distance was almost impossible in that except fireworks and drumbeats as signs at war, there were nearly no other means of correspondence. After the appearance of domesticated pigeons, human commenced using carrier pigeons to get in touch and convey important information, but which was sometimes untrustworthy because carrier pigeons might get lose, resulting in information-missing. Although post office came into existence then, it still couldn’t satisfy the needs for emergency. Human always couldn’t achieve long-distance communication in real-time until telephone was invented, which totally changed the way to correspondence, making it easier for us to convey
information timely. In addition, telephone is extensively used to connect our friends and relatives, promoting the relationships between people and narrowing the distance between hearts.
However, it is also undeniable that television is genuinely useful and popular. So many diverse programs are provided that we can choose any one we prefer, extensively enriching our spare time. For instance, TV play series is a good option for us to kill boring time and add more pleasure to our lives. And we can acquaint with celebrities deeper through an edition of talk show program, even contributing to setting up a model to motivate ourselves. Certainly, television is also a wonderful tool for us to gain the current affairs in every field, helpful for us to have a better understanding of society and integrate into the society. All in all, television has a profound influence on us in daily life, penetrating into our minds and changing the way to analyze problems.
Judging from above evidence offered, I can hardly agree that the telephone has a greater influence on people’s lives than television has. Although telephone actually facilitates us to get in touch with others to a great extent, with the development of science and technology, it is gradually replaced by mobile phone and other online chatting software, which even can realize face-to-face communication. With the large-scale utilization of fossil fuels and rapid development of industry, huge amounts of pollutants are being produced, contaminating the environment to a large degree. The disposal of these pollutants being a tough task, it is hardly possible that we can completely get rid of them within a short period of time. Furthermore, even if we can come up with optimal methods for dealing with these substances, there remains the problem that these methods may cost too much and obstruct the development of economy. Last but not least, the well-being of people around the world is threatened by a variety of diseases, ranging from AIDS to cancer, the cures for which have not been discovered yet. Diseases set off panics among humans, affect their normal life and leave people badly off with the high medical expenses. There are thousands of scientists devoting themselves to finding cure for diseases, but new types of diseases keep emerging and there is no eliminating all of them. In summary, the problems with the most significance today are going to be passed on to our offspring. To eliminate these problems thoroughly, there is still a long way to go.
