2.know different buildings in different countries;

3.the names of different countries and their capitals.

Step Lead-in

In winter holiday, I travelled to many countries. They are……. Do you know these places? How many countries do you know? Can you tell us the names of the countries? (Show the Ss a world map) Then ask them the names of the countries on the map.

Step Two Presentation

1.Show the students the pictures of some beautiful places, and ask

‘Simon wants to learn about foreign countries, he collected some

photos. Can you help him write down the names of the countries

under the photos?’

T: Look at this mountain. What is its name?

S:It’s Mount Fuji.

T:What country is it in?

S:It’s in Japan.

……

2.Show the Ss the pictures of Yaoming, O’Neal, Beckham…and ask

‘Where is he from? What language does he speak?...’

3.Show the Ss the pictures of the Great Wall and Tian’anmen Square

and ask ‘Where are they?’‘They are in Beijing. Beijing is the

capital of China.’

4.Ask the students to practice the following sentences:

The capital of … is ...

…is the capital of…

the USA Washington DC

the UK London

France Paris

Japan Tokyo

Russia Moscow

Canada Ottawa

Step Three Practice

Show the students the photos of different places in Part A. Work in

pairs and talk about them. Use the conversation below as a model.

A: Which country is this photo from, Simon ?

B: Oh, it’s from Japan. This is Mount Fuji.

A: I see. Where is it?

B: It’s near Tokyo.

A: Is Tokyo the capital of Japan?

B: Yes, it is.

Step Four Comic strip

1.Listen to the tape and answer the following questions:

①Where would Eddie like to live?

②Which restaurant does he like best?

③Why would Eddie like to live there?

2.Listen to the tape again and read after it. Then ask the Ss to act out

the dialogue.

Step Five Consolidation

Ask the students to do more practice to consolidate the knowledge

they have learned.

Step Six Homework

1.Try to recite the dialogue on P6 and P7.

2.Try to finish the exercises in workbook.
