Drinking bottled water can keep you in good shape, but millions of water bottles are
thrown away every day. They are destroying the environment.
In order to encourage people to stop using plastic water bottles, an American eco-artist(生态艺术家), Tim Gaudreau, found a way to turn those bottles into works of art. Tim Gaudreau made a huge shoe out of 3,000 plastic bottles. While he used the water bottles to make into the body of the shoe, he used 300 old plastic bags to make into the shoelace(鞋带). Laba Porridge(腊八粥) is known to every Chinese. It marks a special day. Laba Festival, which falls on the 8th day of the 12th lunar(农历的) month. Last year, it was on January 11.
People eat Laba Porridge on that day. The porridge is also called “Eight Treasures Porridge”, because it usually has at least eight things. Rice, beans, dried fruits and peanuts are very popular in the porridge.
On the night before the festival, mothers are busy preparing their porridge. They cook it over a slow fire from midnight until the next morning. When kids wake up in the morning, they smell the aroma(香味) and rush to the kitchen to have a feast.
