I know it isn’t a good excuse for what I did, but Del had never been very nice to me.
He talked a lot, and when he did, he was usually telling mean jokes. Just that morning, he called me “Germy” instead of “Jamie” when I got on the bus. The name-calling was a long and humiliating(丢脸的) story.
