Part ADirections:Read the following four texts.Answer the questions after each text by choosing A,B, C or D. Mark your answers on the ANSWER SHEET. (40 points) Text 3The Internet may be changing merely what we remember, not our capacity to do so, suggests Columbia University psychology professor Betsy Sparrow. In 2011, Sparrow led a study in which participants were asked to record 40 factoids in a computer ("an ostrich's eye is bigger than its brain," for example). Half of the participants were told the information would be erased, while the other half were told it would be saved. Guess what? The latter group made no effort to recall the information when quizzed on it later, because they knew they could find it on their computers. In the same study, a group was asked to remember both the information and the folders it was stored in. They didn't remember the information, but they remembered how to find the folders. In other words, human memory is not deteriorating but "adapting to new communications technology," Sparrow says.In a very practical way, the Internet is becoming an external hard drive for our memories, a process known as "cognitive offloading." Traditionally, this role was fulfilled by data banks, libraries, and other humans. Your father may never remember birthdays because your mother does, for instance. Some worry that this is having a destructive effect on society but Sparrow sees an upside. Perhaps, she suggests, the trend will change our approach to learning from a focus on individual facts and memorization to an emphasis on more conceptual thinking - something that is not available on the Internet. "I personally have never seen all that much intellectual value in memorizing things," Sparrow says, adding that we haven't lost our ability to do it.Still other experts say it's too soon to understand how the Internet affects our brains. There is no experimental evidence showing that it interferes with our ability to focus, for instance, wrote psychologists Christopher Chabris and Daniel J. Simons. And surfing the web exercised the brain more than reading did among computer -savvy older adults in a 2008 study involving 24 participants at the Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior at the University of California, Los Angeles."There may be costs associated with our increased reliance on the Internet, but I'd have to imagine that overall the benefits are going to outweigh those costs," observes psychology professor Benjamin Storm. "It seems pretty clear that memory is changing, but is it changing for the better? At this point, we don't know."31. Sparrow's study shows that with the Internet, the human brain willA. analyze information in detailB. collect information efficientlyC. switch its focus of memoryD. extend its memory duration【答案】 C32.The process of "cognitive offloadingA. helps us identify false informationB. keeps our memory from failingC. enables us to classify trivial factsD. lessens our memory burdens【答案】 D33.Which of the following would Sparrow support about the Internet?A. It is indicated in Para 3 that how the Internet affects our brains?A. requires further academic researchB. is most studies in older adultsC. is reflected in our reading speedD. depends on our web-surfing habits【答案】 A35.Neither Sparrow nor Storm would agree thatA. our reliance on the Internet will be costlyB. the Internet is weakening our memoryC. memory exercise is a must for our brainD. our ability to focus declines with age【答案】 B。

The average temperature of the Earth has increased by almost 1°C in the past century, and it is still rising. Global warming has been observed in many aspects, such as the increase in average global temperature, the rise in sea levels, the shrinking of glaciers, and the decline in Arctic sea ice. These changes have brought about severe weather events, such as heatwaves, floods, and hurricanes, which have had a significant impact on human health, agriculture, and the environment. The situation is urgent, and it requires immediate action. In order to mitigate the effects of global warming, we need to understand its causes and take effective measures to address it.Causes of Global WarmingThe primary cause of global warming is the increased concentration of greenhouse gases in the Earth's atmosphere. These gases, such as carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), and nitrous oxide (N2O), trap heat from the sun and prevent it from escaping into space, leading to a rise in the Earth's temperature. The m本人n sources of these greenhouse gases are human activities, such as the burning of fossil fuels for energy, deforestation, and industrial processes. These activities have released large amounts of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere, resulting in the enhanced greenhouse effect and the warming of the Earth's climate. In addition, the rapid growth of the global population and the increase in industrialization have further exacerbated the problem of global warming.Impacts of Global WarmingGlobal warming has had far-reaching impacts on the Earth's climate, ecosystems, and human societies. One of the most notable effects is the rise in sea levels, which is due to the melting of polar ice caps and glaciers. This has led to the flooding of coastal areas and the displacement of millions of people, as well as the loss of habitats for marine life. Moreover, the increase in temperature has caused changes in precipitation patterns, resulting in more frequent and severe droughts, heatwaves, and heavy r本人nfall. These extreme weather events have had a detrimental effect on agriculture, food security, and water resources, leading to food shortages, water scarcity, and the spread of infectious diseases. Furthermore, global warming has had a negative impact on biodiversity, as many species are unable to adapt to the rapid changes in their environment and are at risk of extinction.Mitigation of Global WarmingIn order to mitigate the effects of global warming, we need to take urgent and coordinated action at the global, national, and local levels. The first step is to reduce the emission of greenhouse gases by transitioning to renewable energy sources, such as solar, wind, and hydroelectric power, and by improving energy efficiency in transportation, buildings, and industry. Additionally, we need to increase the conservation and restoration of forests, which act as carbon sinks and help to absorb greenhouse gases from the atmosphere. Furthermore, we should promote sust本人nable agriculture and land use practices to reduce emissions from deforestation and agriculture. Finally, we need to enhance international cooperation and development assistance to support developing countries in adapting to the impacts of global warming andtransitioning to low-carbon, climate-resilient economies.ConclusionGlobal warming is a pressing issue that requires immediate attention and action from all sectors of society. By understanding the causes and impacts of global warming and implementing effective measures to mitigate its effects, we can work towards a sust本人nable and resilient future for the planet. It is imperative that we take collective action to address global warming and preserve the Earth's environment for future generations.1.

What comes into your mind when you think of British food? Probably fish and chips, or a Sunday dinner of meat and two vegetables. But is British food really so uninteresting? Even though Britain has a reputation for less-than-impressive cuisine, it is producing more top class chefs who appear frequently on our television screens and whose recipe books frequently top the best seller lists. It's thanks to these TV chefs rather than any advertising campaign that Britons are turning away from meat-and-two-veg and ready-made meals and becoming more adventurous in their cooking habits. It is recently reported that the number of those sticking to a traditional diet is slowly declining and around half of Britain's consumers would like to change or improve their cooking in some way. There has been a rise in the number of students applying for food courses at UK universities and colleges. It seems that TV programmes have helped change what people think about cooking.According to a new study from market analysts, 1 in 5 Britons say that watching cookery programmes on TV has encouraged them to try different food. Almost one third say they now use a wider variety of ingredients (配料) than they used to, and just under 1 in 4 say they now buy better quality ingredients than before. One in four adults say that TV chefs have made them much more confident about expanding their cookery knowledge and skills, and young people are also getting more interested in cooking. The UK's obsession (痴迷) with food is reflected through television scheduling. Cookery shows and documentaries about food are broadcast more often than before. With an increasing number of male chefs on TV, it's no longer "uncool" for boys to like cooking.1.(2分)What do people usually think of British food?A.It is simple and plain.B.It is rich in nutrition.C.It lacks authentic tastes.D.It deserves a high reputation.2.(2分)Which best describes cookery programmes on British TV?A.Authoritative.B.Creative.C.Profitable.D.Influential.3.(2分)Which is the percentage of the people using more diverse ingredients now?A.20%.B.24%.C.25%.D.33%.4.(2分)What might the author continue talking about?A.The art of cooking in other countries.B.Male chefs on TV programmes.C.Table manners in the UK.D.Studies of big eaters. There is more of a connection between food and culture than you may think. On an individual level, we grow up eating the food of our culture. It becomes a part of who we are. Many associate food from our childhood with warm feelings and good memories and it ties us to our families, holding a special and personal value for us. Food from our family often becomes the comfort food we seek as adults in times of frustration and stress. On a large scale, traditional food is an important part of culture. It also operates as an expression of culture identity. Immigrants bring itwherever they go, and it is a symbol of pride for their culture and means of coping with homesickness. Many immigrants open their own restaurants and serve traditional dishes. However, the food does not remain exactly the same. Some materials needed to make traditional dishes may not be readily available, so the taste and flavor can be different from what they would prepare in their home countries. Additionally, immigrants do not only sell dishes to people from the same countries as them, but to people from different countries. Therefore, they have to make small changes about the original dishes to cater to a wider range of customers. Those changes can create new flavors that still keep the cultural significance of the dishes. We should embrace our heritage(传统)through our culture's food but also become more informed about other cultures by trying their food. It is important to remember that each dish has a special place in the culture to which it belongs, and is special to those who prepare it. Food is a window into culture, and it should be treated as such.(1)(2分)What's the function of food mentioned in the article?A.To help motivate homesickness.B.To show national identity.C.To reflect a country's history.D.To show a community's superiority.(2)(2分)What does the underlined "it" in Paragraph2 refer to?A.The specific traditional food.B.The national culture.C.A traditional expression of food.D.The old-fashioned taste.(3)(2分)Why do some immigrants have to change the original dishes in their restaurant?A.To attach cultural importance to their dishes.B.To announce the beginning of their life on foreign soil.C.To make the dishes popular among customers.D.To present their own food culture in a new way.(4)(2分)What's the author's attitude towards different food cultures?A.Negative.B.Balanced.C.Unfair.D.Unchangeable.

1.整体感知文章内容,在 _______________________上为文章你写一个简洁的标题。
