These efforts take place across the world. For example, Forest Service experts and volunteers are working in the San Gabriel Mountains of southern California. They are looking for information about prehistoric and historic settlements of native Californians.[2] This kind of work interests theological (神学的) researcher Steven Ortiz of the Southwestern Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. Every other year, he leads an archeological dig in Israel. The dig is at Tel Gezer, halfway between Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. Professor Ortiz directs the activities at Tel Gezer with Samuel Wolff, an Israeli archeologist.[3] The experts, students and volunteers are hoping to learn more about the ancient city of Gezer. The city is linked to King Solomon, who appears in the holy writings of Judaism, Christianity and Islam. Volunteers must pay for their transportation and children may take part if they are with a parent.[4] Volunteers will face ________. The work takes time, patience and often, muscle strength. The ground may be hard and the sun may be hot.[5] For some, Steven Ortiz said the dig is a religious pilgrimage (朝圣之旅). But there are a number of other reasons. Some just value ancient history, and they want to be a part of uncovering it. Ortiz said, “I think we attract people who think they want a crosscultural experience. They want to do something meaningful. They want to get their hands dirty. And they want to have a fun experience touring a foreign country.”[6] Volunteering for the archeological dig provides all those things, and more.“You are helping science. You are helping history. 2020《三维设计二轮》高考题型重组练

高考题型重组练(一)(限时30分钟)Ⅰ.阅读理解A(2019·河南省高考适应性测试)If you want your life to stand for peace and kindness, it's helpful to do kind, peaceful things. One of my favorite ways to do this is by developing my own helping rituals (习惯).These little acts of kindness are opportunities to be of service and reminders of how good it feels to be kind and helpful. My family live in a rural area of the San Francisco BayArea. Most of what we see is the beauty of nature. One of theexceptions to the beauty is the litter that some people throw out oftheir windows as they are driving on the rural roads. One of the fewshortcomings to live in the remote areas is the public services, such as litter collection, which are less available than those closer to the city.A helping ritual that I practice regularly with my two children is picking up litter in our surrounding area. We've become so accustomed to doing this that my daughters will often say to me in lovely voices, “There's some litter. Daddy, stop the car!” And if we have time, we will often pull over and pick it up. It may seem strange, but we actually enjoy it. We pick up litter in parks, on sidewalks, practically anywhere. Once I even saw a complete stranger picking up litter close to where we live. He smiled at me and said, “I saw you doing it, and itseemed like a good idea.”Picking up litter is only one of endless supplies of possible helping rituals. You might like holding a door open for people, visiting lonely elderly people in nursing homes, or clearing snow off someone else's driveway. Think of something that seems effortless yet helpful. It's fun, personally rewarding, and sets a good example. Everyone wins.1.What does the author think of developing a helping ritual?A.It is very easy.B.It is very difficult.C.It helps us to be winners.D.It makes us feel good about ourselves.解析:选D推理判断题。
