一幅水墨丹青，上面通常只有寥寥几笔，且笔力轻淡，给人以朦胧之感，画面上的大部分都是空白的。
这留白就是中国画与西方画的不同之处:西方油画大多填充得满满的，不留一丝一毫的空白，故其写实性强;而中国水墨讲究意境，不是刻板地描摹实际，而是留有大片空白，目的在于让人们自由发挥想象，感悟留白背后的深意。
画如此，人心是不是亦如此呢?禅诗云:“心随境转是凡夫，境随心转是圣贤。
境随心转则悦，心随境转则烦。
”凡夫心中之所以无法得到宁静、平和与淡然，是因为心中堆放了太多太多的杂物，胸中淤积，自然苦闷不堪，无法享受生活的乐趣。
或许，我们应该定时清扫一下心中的灰尘，留下一点自由的空间，保持新鲜空气的流通，然后再泡上一壶香茗，坐在竹制的躺椅上，静静地小憩，静静地聆听窗外鸟儿的鸣唱，让心灵在自然的安抚和浸润下变得从容恬静。

林清玄曾经说过:“人生苦短，缘来不易，我们都应该好好珍惜，并应用宽容与豁达对待生命中的每一个人，每一件事。
