机会总是青睐有准备的人英语作文
Beyond academics, preparation has also empowered me to navigate the social and personal aspects of my life with greater confidence and resilience. By developing strong interpersonal skills, practicing active listening, and cultivating empathy, I've been able to forge meaningful connections with my peers, professors, and mentors. These relationships have, in turn, led to invaluable advice, guidance, and even recommendations for internships and job opportunities.
Let me share a personal experience that drove this lesson home. Last year, I had the chance to participate in a prestigious national debate competition. On paper, it seemed like a perfect fit for someone like me, with a passion for public speaking and a keen interest in current affairs. However, when the opportunity presented itself, I found myself woefully underprepared.

关于经济的英语新闻The Impact of COVID-19 on the Global EconomyThe COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on the global economy. Countries around the world have implemented strict measures to contain the spread of the virus, such as lockdowns, travel restrictions, and social distancing guidelines. These measures have had far-reaching consequences for businesses, industries, and the overall economic landscape. One of the major effects of the pandemic on the economy is the disruption of supply chains. Many countries heavily rely on imports and exports for their economic growth. With the implementation of travel restrictions and lockdowns, the movement of goods and services has been severely impacted. This has led to shortages of essential goods, such as medical supplies and food, and has affected various industries, including manufacturing and retail. The travel and tourism industry has been hit particularly hard. With the closure of borders and restrictions on international travel, airlines, hotels, and tourist destinations have seen a significant decline in customers. This has resulted in job losses and financial struggles for many businesses and individuals in the sector. The impact on the tourism industry is expected to have long-lasting effects, as it will take time for people to regain confidence in traveling and for the industry to recover. The pandemic has also caused a significant decrease in consumer spending. With the uncertainty surrounding the future and the fear of the virus, many people have chosen to reduce their discretionary spending. This has led to a decline in sales for non-essential goods and services, such as clothing, electronics, and entertainment. As a result, many businesses have had to close their doors permanently, leading to job losses and economic instability.Government responses to the pandemic have also had an impact on the economy. In an effort to mitigate the effects of the crisis, governments around the world haveimplemented fiscal stimulus packages. These packages include measures such as direct cash transfers to individuals and businesses, tax relief, and increased government spending. While these measures have provided some relief, they have also resulted in increased government debt and budget deficits. The pandemic has highlighted the importance of digitalization and technology in the economy. With the closure of physical stores and the shift towards remote work, e-commerce and online services have experienced significant growth. Companies that have been able to adapt and leverage technology have fared better during this crisis. This shift towards digitalization is expected to continue even after the pandemic, as businesses and consumers have become more accustomed to online transactions and remote work.In conclusion, the COVID-19 pandemic has had a profound impact on the global economy. Supply chains have been disrupted, industries have suffered, and consumer spending has decreased. The travel and tourism industry has been hit particularly hard, and governments have implemented fiscal stimulus packages to mitigate the effects of the crisis. The pandemic has also accelerated the digitalization of the economy, with online services and remote work becoming more prevalent. As the world continues to grapple with the effects of the pandemic, it is essential for governments, businesses, and individuals to adapt and find innovative solutions to ensure a resilient and sustainable economic recovery.。

1、Leaders from more than one hundred nations are in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil for a three-day United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development. More than forty thousand activists and political and business leaders are also there. United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon spoke at the opening of the event, known as the Rio + 20.2、This year, officials are trying to reach final agreement on a document that details goals for reducing poverty while supporting clean energy and sustainable development. The conference will draw attention to seven major issues. The UN says jobs, energy and sustainable cities are of top importance. It notes that food security, water, oceans and dealing with disasters are other issues basic to lifting people out of poverty.3、The Mayor of New York City, Michael Bloomberg, took part in a discussion among mayors of some of the world's largest cities. They talked about measures to cut greenhouse gasses. These gasses are known to trap heat and have been linked to climate change. Cities are responsible for up to seventy-five percent of the gases. Mr.Bloomberg said the world's mayors are taking the lead on issues like the environment and sustainability.4、Mayors reported using electric vehicles, better street lighting and improved waste management to reduce cities' greenhouse emissions.5、Still, some environmental activists say the conference document is too weak. They say there are many promises of action but few clear targets for reducing pollution and the use of natural resources.。

ECONOMICS REPORT - Starting a Business Means Getting Organized
By Mario Ritter / Broadcast date: Friday, September 07, 2007 Source: /voanews/specialenglish/ This is the VOA Special English Economics Report. Businesses are structured in different ways to meet different needs. The simplest form of business is called an individual proprietorship. The proprietor owns all of the property of the business and is responsible for everything. This means that the proprietor gets to keep all of the profits of the business, but also must pay any debts. The law recognizes no difference between the owner and the business. Another kind of business is the partnership. Two or more people go into business together. An agreement is usually needed to decide how much of the partnership each person controls. There are limited liability partnerships. These have full partners and limited partners. Limited partners may not share as much in the profits, but they also do not have as many responsibilities. Doctors, lawyers and accountants often form partnerships to share the profits and risks of doing business. A husband and wife can form a business partnership. Partnerships can end at any time. But partnerships and individual proprietorships exist only as long as the owners are alive. The most complex kind of business organization is the corporation. Corporations are designed to have an unlimited lifetime. Corporations can sell stock as a way to raise money. Stock represents shares of ownership in a company. Investors who buy stock can trade their shares or keep them as long as the company is in business. A company might use some of its earnings to pay dividends as a reward to shareholders. Or it might reinvest the money into the
business. If shares lose value, investors can lose all of the money they paid for their stock. But shareholders are not responsible for the debts of the corporation. A corporation is recognized as an entity -- its own legal being, separate from its owners. A board of directors controls corporate policies. The directors appoint top company officers. The directors might or might not hold shares in the corporation. Corporations can have a few major shareholders. Or ownership can be spread among the general public. But not all corporations are traditional businesses that sell stock. There are nonprofit groups that are also organized as corporations. glish Economics Report, written by Mario Ritter.
