An explanation for some of the disappearances has focused on the presence of vast fields of methane hydrates (a form of natural gas) on the continental shelves . It has been hypothesized that periodic methane eruptions (sometimes called “mud volcanoes ") may produce regions of frothy water that are no longer capable of providing adequate buoyancy for ships. If this were the case, such an area forming around a ship could cause it to sink very rapidly and without warning.

Introduction
BERMUDA Triangle (百 慕 大 三 角 ) is the greatest modern mystery of our supposedly well understood world: a region of the Atlantic Ocean between Bermuda, Miami, Florida, and San Juan (圣 胡 安 ， 波 多 黎 各 岛 首 府 ), Puerto Rico (波 多 黎 各 岛 ), in which many ships and airplanes are said to have disappeared. Though no scientific evidence has been found, reports of unexplained occurrences have continued from the 19th century to the present.

What’s more other areas also often purported to possess unusual characteristics are the Devil's Sea, located near Japan, and the Marysburgh Vortex or the Great Lakes Triangle, located in eastern Lake Ontario.
Until now dozens of ships and planes have vanished without a trace in the area of the Atlantic Ocean known as the Bermuda Triangle. But where do they go and what is causing them to disappear?

Incidents in sea
1843:USS Grampus schooner last seen March 15 presumed sunk in a gale off Charleston ,South Carolina. 1872 The mysterious abandonment in 1872 of the 282-ton brigantine Mary Celeste is often but inaccurately connected to the Triangle, the ship having been abandoned off the coast of Portugal. 1918:USS Cyclops ,collier ,left Barbados on March 4,lost with 309 crew and passengers en route to Baltimore ,Maryland. 1921 :A five- masted schooner built in 1919, the Carroll A. Deering was found hard aground and abandoned at Diamond Shoals, near Caop Hatteras, North Carolina on January 31, 1921.
Given the historical limitations of communications technology, most of those ships that sank without survivors would disappear without a trace. The advent of wireless communications, radar, and satellite navigation meant that the unexplained disappearances largely ceased at some point in the 20th Century. The occasional vessel still sinks, but rarely without a trace. It should be noted that both the concept and the name of the Bermuda Triangle date only to the 1960s, and were the products of an American journalist.
People’s misinformation
Many of the alleged mysteries have proven not so mysterious or unusual upon close examination, with inaccuracies and misinformation about the cases often circulating and recirculating over the decades.

Supernatural explanations
technology from the mythical lost continent of Atlantis. Sometimes connected to the Atlantis story is the submerged rock formation known as the Bimini Road off the island of Bimini in the Bahamas, which is in the Triangle by some definitions. Followers of the purported psychic Edgar Cayce take his prediction that evidence of Atlantis would be found in 1968 as referring to the discovery of the Bimini Road. Believers describe the formation as a road, wall, or other structure, though geologists consider it to be of natural origin.
