其功能在货油装载过程中可使大量的蒸发气混合气体排出货油舱。
当阀开启后,出口处的排气速度在任何流量下都大于30m/s,在卸载过程中可使大量的空气吸入货油舱,以平衡油舱压力;在驱除油气的过程中可使油气经本阀门排放出货油舱。
在正常航行中,由于温度变化,可使少量油气自动排出货油舱或使少量空气进入货油舱。
当油船甲板上出现火情时,本高速透气阀可阻止外界火苗进入受保护的舱室。
