定语从句：在复合句中，修饰某一名词或代词的从句叫_________.被修饰的词叫先行词. 定语从句放在先行词的____面。

引导定语从句的关联词称为关系词，关系词分为关系代词和关系副词。关系代词主要有that, which, who, whom, whose, as等；关系副词主要有where, when, why, how等。who一般指人，which一般指物，而that既可指人也可指物。当关系代词在定语从句中作宾语时，关系代词常可省略；当关系代词在定语从句中作主语时，则不能省略。

关系词有三个作用：(1)引导定语从句；(2)代替先行词；(3)在定语从句中充当一个成分。

关系代词who/ that在定语从句中做主语时,谓语动词的单复数应与先行词保持一致。.

考点2. 当关系代词在定语从句中作主语时,定语从句的谓语动词形式由先行词的单复数决定。

1). I prefer shoes that are cool. 2). I like a cake that is really delicious.

考点3.定语从句的关系代词只能用that而不用which的几种情况：

(1)当先行词是anything，everything，nothing (something 除外), few, all, none,

little, some等不定代词，或由every, any, all, some, no, little, few, much等修饰时。如：

There is little that I can do for you.我几乎不能为你做任何事。

Is there anything that I can do for you?有什么我能为你做的吗？

注意：当先行词指人时，也可以用who。如：

Any man that/who has a sense of duty won't do such a thing.

(2)当先行词被序数词修饰时。如：

The first place that they visited in London was Big Ben.

(3)当先行词被形容词最高级修饰时。如：

This is the best film that I have ever seen.这是我所看过的最好的一部电影。

(4)当名词被the very, the only, the same, the last 等修饰时。如：

This is the very dictionary that I want to buy.这正是我想要买的那本词典。

注意：当先行词指人时，也可以用who。如：

Wang Hua is the only person in our school that/who will attend the meeting. 王华是我校将出席此会议的仅有的一人。

(5)当先行词前面有who, which等疑问代词时。如：

Who is the man that is standing there? 站在那儿的那个人是谁？

(6)当先行词既有人，又有物时。如：

Can you remember the scientist and his theory that we have learned？
