The Subjunctive Mood

Teaching aims :

the knowledge and ability aims : let the students understand and master the rules of the subjunctive mood , to practice and use the rules in exercises flexibly

teaching procedures and methods :combine teacher’s guiding with self-learning, unite the teaching and practicing, to let ss mater he subjunctive mood in practicing the attitude and feeling aims : improve the research and self-learning ability , learn to cooperate with the others

Important points:

To know and master the concept of subjunctive mood

Difficult points:

To use the principles to deal with the exercises and practice them in daily using Teaching methods: task-based teaching methods , group work , self-learning . Teaching aids: a recorder, a computer, and blackboard ,chalks

Teaching procedures:

Step1. Greeting and reviewing.

Step 2. Lead-in ( to make some sentences)

Step 3. Presentation and exercises

1. If 引导的非真实条件句构成的虚拟语气

A. Observe these sentences and try to summarize the rules

Sentences :

1. If she had time, she would help me.

2. If I were you , I would take action at once.

3. If I had set out 5 minutes earlier,we would have caught the train.

4. If he had been there, it wouldn’t have happened.

5. If it should rain tomorrow, they wouldn’t go for an out ing.

6. If he were to leave tomorrow , I would go with him .

7. If he came the day after tomorrow , I would tell him about it .

Rules:

与现在事实相反1, 2

与现在事实相反的虚拟条件句,条件从句的谓语用动词的过去式(be的过去式用were), 主句的谓语用should (would, might,could)+动词原形。

与过去事实相反3, 4 , 2.

与过去事实相反的虚拟条件句,条件从句的谓语用had+过去分词,主句的谓语用should (would, might,could)+ have +过去分词。

与未来事实相反5,6 ,7与将来事实可能相反的虚拟条件句,条件从句的谓语用动词的过去式(be的过去式用were);should+动词原形;were to+动词原形,主句用should (would, might,could)+动词原形。
