next best insulation, while our building solutions provide environmentally-friend-ly, energy efficient and highly intelligent building control solutions for thousands of Chinese consumers. These building solutions were used in the construction of Beijing’s iconic National Stadium to meet the goals of a Green Olympics, High-tech Olympics and People's Olympics. Honeywell also brings environmen-tally-friendly solutions to the lives of consumers all over China. Our patented refrigerant provides millions of Chinese families with greener lifestyles. Our environmentally-friendly Enovate blow-ing agent has been used on solar water heaters, delivering clean energy through eco-friendly materials. Honeywell's LED lighting technology has already helped Wal-Mart’s model energy-conserving

store in Beijing reduce lighting energy consumption by up to 13%. In addition, simple things such as tire pressure moni-toring and advanced air filters are help-ing homes save significant amounts of energy.

Honeywell’s link to energy efficiency begins with the rule of “change begins at home.” Over a three-year period, we have been “right-sizing” our cargo vehicles which has helped reduce CO 2 emissions by an estimated 2,000 tons. By 2012, Honeywell will reduce its green-house gas emissions by 30% and in-crease energy efficiency by 20%. These outstanding results are being realized through developments such as the more than five million yuan energy efficiency project at Honeywell Technology Solu-tions China in Shanghai which was start-

ed in 2008. This project cuts electricity consumption from the campus’ air-con-ditioning system by an estimated 48%, a greenhouse gas emissions reduction of 1,147 tons per year. This project will save Honeywell Technology Solutions China up to nine million yuan every decade.If the U.S. and Europe were to aggres-sively use existing Honeywell technolo-gies, they could reduce the current level of energy consumption by 15 to 20%. Our energy efficient technology is help-ing the nation reduce emissions and at-tain its goal of developing a sustainable economy.

Nearly 50% of Honeywell’s product portfolio delivers energy efficiency bene-fits. China’s rapidly developing economy has created an unprecedented energy challenge. To meet this challenge, Hon-eywell is actively leveraging its world class technology, rich experience and in-novative products to help China become more energy efficient while reducing emissions.

Honeywell has established strategic partnerships with enterprises in China’s key industries including oil, chemicals, petrochemicals, power and steel. Offer-ings like UOP’s renewable energy tech-nologies and industry process solutions have driven greater operational efficiency throughout China. Our Advanced Energy Solutions help industrial power plants op-timize combustion controls, reduce emis-

sions and improve efficiency up to 3%. UOP’s services, technologies, catalysts and other offerings reduce refineries’ energy consumption by up to 15% while significantly increasing yield.

In transportation, Honeywell’s auxiliary power units provide highly efficient pow-er for airplanes. Our world leading turbo-charger technology provides outstanding performance while increasing fuel effi-ciency and reducing emissions by 40%. This enables smaller engine size with-out a loss of performance. Honeywell's exciting UOP Ecofining? technology has successfully converted vegetable oils to green diesel, thus enhancing fuel performance and effectively reducing carbon emissions. UOP also produces green jet fuel from inedible jatropha, which has been successfully applied in

groundbreaking test flights with Air New Zealand, Continental Airlines and Japan Airlines. This new fuel promises to effec-tively balance social and environmental needs while meeting rapidly expanding energy demands.

Honeywell’s industry-leading Energy Performance Contracts provide innova-tive, customized energy management to help companies like the Shenzhen Tsingtao Beer Asahi Co. Ltd. reduce en-ergy consumption by up to 17%. We are also actively cooperating with other local companies to significantly boost their en-ergy efficiency.

na Eastern, Shenzhen Airlines and the

For nearly 100 years, Honeywell Spe-

cialty Materials has created and devel-

oped a long line of products that bring

about economic benefit and an improved

quality of life to all customers and end

users. Specialty Materials also has a

long history in China. UOP LLC, a wholly-

owned Honeywell Specialty Materials’

subsidiary, has provided thermal crack-

ing technologies to China’s oil refining

industry since 1933. Today, China is one

of Honeywell’s most strategic markets.

In 2004, Specialty Materials relocated its

Asia Pacific headquarters from Singapore

to Shanghai to meet increasing demand

from China. It also established the Asia

The Shanghai Learning Center was

opened in June of 2006. As Honeywell's

largest regional training facility, the cen-

ter helps our employees develop the

critical skills and knowledge needed to

support our rapidly expanding opera-

tions in not only China, but the entire Asia

Pacific market as well. This state-of-the-

art learning facility provides a wide range

of courses, including regional leadership

development programs, leadership skills

workshops, supervision courses and

local requirements programs. In 2008,

more than 2,500 professionals partici-

pated in the center’s various course of-

ferings. Both the large investment in this

learning facility and the large number of

users demonstrate Honeywell’s commit-

ment to continuous learning. Through the

Shanghai Learning Center, Honeywell

is nurturing a virtuous cycle of learning,

teaching and giving.

Training is not the only way to learn at

Honeywell, on-the-job learning is a key

source of new knowledge at Honeywell.

霍尼韦尔的企业公民活动总称霍尼韦尔家园建设计划，主要关注五个重要领域：家庭安全与安防、住宅建设、科学与数学教育、动物栖息地保护以及人道主义援助。与全球各大公益组织和非赢利组织合作，霍尼韦尔在身处的社区开展了一系列有意义的活动。

在中国，自2005年起霍尼韦尔牵手全球儿童安全网络-中国开展针对6-12岁儿童的“儿童安全，幸福家庭”教育活动，使小学生通过各种轻松愉快的活动掌握必要的安全知识，了解日常生活中预防意外伤害的重要性和正确方式。自2005年起，全国已经有累计近600所小学的约48万小学生在活动中受益。

另外，霍尼韦尔也赞助了中国部分中学教师参与在美国进行的“霍尼

韦尔太空学院教师培训计划”，帮助

教师更好地培育中国未来的科学家和

工程师。

此外，霍尼韦尔携手诺贝尔基

金会启动了“霍尼韦尔—诺贝尔全球

校园行”这一科学教育项目，为世界

各地的大学生和世界著名的诺贝尔奖

获得者建立起沟通的桥梁。自2007年

起，“霍尼韦尔—诺贝尔全球校园

行”来到了中国的上海交通大学、北

京航空航天大学、天津大学和东南大

学等一流高校，通过丰富的讲座、互

动媒体和广播电视，使中国学生们实

现直接与诺贝尔化学及物理学奖获得

者对话学习的梦想。

在2008年中国四川省汶川发生特

大地震灾害后，霍尼韦尔全球董事长

兼首席执行官高德威先生亲临地震灾

区进行实地考察，并宣布霍尼韦尔捐

赠约130万美元善款用于灾区学校和卫

生医疗设施的重建，并运用公司最先

进的节能环保和安防方面的技术帮助

灾区重建。

怀着对我们身处社会的强烈责

任感和使命感，霍尼韦尔一直走在履

行企业公民义务的前沿。自2004年以

来，霍尼韦尔的“家园建设计划”全

球公益项目已获得了企业社会责任领

域的50个奖项。

Honeywell Hometown Solutions,

the company’s corporate citizenship

initiative, focuses on five areas of vital

importance: Family Safety & Security;

Housing & Shelter; Science & Math Edu-

cation; Habitat & Conservation; and Hu-

manitarian Relief. Together with leading

public and non-profit institutions, Honey-

well has developed powerful programs to

address these needs in the communities

it serves.

In 2005, Honeywell, in partnership

with Safe Kids Worldwide, launched the

Safe Kids @ Home Education Campaign

which targets Chinese elementary school

students ages 6-12. This campaign aims

to provide students with essential safety

knowledge to raise their awareness and

skills in preventing injuries and accidents

at home through a series of interesting

activities. Since its inception, approxi-

mately 480,000 elementary students from

nearly 600 different schools have ben-

efited from this program.

Honeywell also sponsors teachers

from Chinese high schools to participate

in our Honeywell Educators @ Space

Academy. The program gives teachers

the tools to better instruct China’s next

generation of scientists and engineers.

In addition, and in cooperation with

the Nobel Foundation, Honeywell de-

signed the Honeywell-Nobel Initiative, a

global science education program. The

program connects college students with

recipients of the Nobel Prize. In 2007,

the Honeywell-Nobel Initiative came to

China, and has since helped the stu-

dents of Shanghai Jiao Tong University,

Beihang University, Tianjin University and

Southeast University realize their dreams

of communicating directly with Nobel

laureates through a series of lectures, in-

teractive meetings and other programs.

Beyond these educational initiatives,

Honeywell is also actively engaged in hu-

manitarian efforts in China. Immediately

following the devastating earthquake in

Sichuan Province, Honeywell Chairman

and CEO Dave Cote took a trip to the

affected areas and announced plans

for a nearly $1.3 million donation to sup-

port the rebuilding of schools and clin-

ics. Since then, the company has also

supported rebuilding efforts with its ad-

vanced technologies and equipment in

environmental protection and security.

Honeywell has received 50 awards for

our Honeywell Hometown Solutions initia-

tives.
