Unit 3 Could you please clean your room?

区别:

1.Sweep,clean

(1)"sweep"主要指用扫帚、刷子等把表面上的垃圾或尘土清楚。

I can sweep the floor.

(2)"clean" 是指立体式全方位的整洁与干净,

Let's clean our classroom.

2.Throw 的用法

(1)Throw sth. to sb.= throw sb. sth. 将某无扔给某人Don’t throw the bag to me. 不要把那个包扔给我。

(2)Throw sth. at sb. 用某物砸某人The boy is throwing stones at the dog.那个男孩在用石头砸狗。

(3)另外:throw down 扔下throw away 扔掉,错失(机会等)

3.Neither, either

(1)either指两者中的任何一个,neither指两者都不,both表示两者都。

作代词时,either, neither一般接单数动词。Neither of the two speaks English well.他们两个的英语都说得不好。Either of them can do the work. 他们两人中谁都能做这工作。两者均可直接修饰名词,但被修饰名词要用单数形式。如:Neither pen is good. 两支钢笔都不好。There are a lot of trees on either side of the street. 街道的两边都有许多树。

2) either...or表示两个或多个选择中的一项。neither...nor表示“既不,也不”。either...or, 要么……要么……, neither...nor既不……也不……连接的两个名词或代词作主语时,谓语动词与最靠近它的主语一致。(就近原则)

Neither you or I am an actor. 你和我都不是演员。

(3) either表示也不,用于否定句。(too表示“也”,用于肯定句。) I don't like the yellow shirt, I don't like the green one, either.

4. borrow, lend, keep, use

(1)borrow 对于动词的主语来说是“借入”,表示“借他人的东西自己使用”时,与介词from搭配,常用与borrow sb. sth.= borrow sth. from sb./sp.结构中。Did you borrow money from her? 你向他接过钱吗?

(2)lend 对于动作的主语来说是“借出”表示“将自己的东西借给别人使用”时,与介词to 搭配,常用于lend sb. sth.= lend sth. to sb.结构中。Could you lend your English book to me? 你能把你的英语书借给我吗?

(3)keep 做“借”讲时,是延续性动词,表示“借了某物多长时间”,常与表示一段时间的状语连用,而lend 和borrow 是非延续性动词,不能与表示一段时间的状语连用。You can keep the book for three weeks. 这本书你可以借三周。

(4)use 含有“借……用”之意,相当于borrow。May I use your computer? 可以借你的电脑用一下吗?

5. provide, offer

(1) provide 用于表示做好充分准备地为人或物提供需要或有用的东西,含有出于某种责任。常用于peovide sb with sth或provide sth for sb的固定搭配中。意味“为某人提供某物” We provide children with good education. / We provide good education for children. 我们为儿童提供良好的教育。

(2)offer表示提供服务、工作等,强调主动。常用于offer sb sth或offer sth to sb的固定搭配。意为“主动向某人提供某物” I offered her a beautiful dress.我给了他一件漂亮的连衣裙。

另外:offer to do sth. 主动提出做某事。He offered to lend me some money.他主动提出要借给我一些钱。

6.Drop, fall

(1)fall是强调自己掉下,通常指,在重力的作用下落下,或者失去平衡而跌落而. The book fell from the table to the floor.

那本书从桌上落到地上。

(3)drop是强调被人掉下。Bad luck! He dropped the stick!真倒霉!他掉棒了。但如果说数据下降了多少,两个都可以。

drop和fall都可以作名词,drop当名词讲时,表示“(液体的)珠,滴”比如:drops of rain,雨滴drops of sweat,汗滴fall当名词讲表示降落,落下(另外也当秋季讲)

Liverpool city government want to clear the city of fat pigeons (鸽子). They say that people are feeding the birds, which makes them fat. The pigeons get bigger because their normal food should be seeds (种子)and insects (昆虫), not high-fat junk food they are eating in the city centre.
