外国现代家具一、前期现代家具（1850-1914年）（一）托耐特曲木家具米歇尔托耐特（Michael Thonet，1796-1871）生于莱茵河畔博帕特（Boppard）的工匠之家，1842年6月，托耐特的“用化学、机械法弯曲脆材的技术”在维也纳获得了专利。1852年，托耐特经过研究以后发明了加金属带使中性层外移的曲木方法，很好地解决了这一问题。这些原理现仍用在很多曲木机上，并将其称为“托耐特”。1853年11月，57岁的索内将他的公司转让给五个儿子经营，成立了征服家具世界的托耐特兄弟公司。从1859年开始生产的14号椅子（也称维也纳椅，Vienna Chair ,）是托耐特家具历史上最有代表性的作品，到1930年已累计生产5000万件，目前仍在继续生产。1860年开始生产的7027号曲木摇椅，盛期年产量达10万件以上。这种椅子打破了千百年来椅子设计的原则，将“动”的观念融到作品中。从椅子的造型就会联想到人坐在其上那种悠闲自得、其乐融融的心情。可以说这件作品是灵活应用曲线造型的典范。托耐特曲木家具 (二)工艺美术运动 “工艺美术运动”主要是英国的艺术运动，1888年由莫里斯倡导。这一运动的基本思想在于改革过去的装饰艺术，并以大规模的、工业化生产的廉价产品来满足人民的需要，因而它标志着家具从古典装饰走向工业设计的第一步。随着莫里斯装饰公司的开创性工作及其影响的不断扩大，10年后这一新思想便传播到了整个欧洲大陆，并导致“新艺术运动”的发生３莫里斯作品（三）新艺术运动 “新艺术运动”是1895年由法国兴起，至1905年结束的一场波及整个欧洲的艺术革新运动。它致力于寻求一种丝毫也不从属于过去的新风格。“新艺术运动”是以装饰为重点的个人浪漫主义艺术，它以表现自然形态的美作为自己的装饰风格，从而使家具象生物一样也富于活力。主要代表人物有法国的海格尤马特和比利时的亨利凡得维尔德等。他们的作品虽然有些过于浪漫，而且因不适于工业化生产的要求最终被淘汰，但他们使人们懂得应当从对古典的模仿中解放出来，是欧洲古典主义艺术传统向现代主义运动的过程阶段。 (四) 维也纳装饰艺术学校：1899年，以瓦格纳为首的一些受“新艺术运动”影响的奥地利建筑师建立了维也纳装饰艺术学校。在该校任教的有欧布利希、霍夫曼和卢斯等。这些著名的维也纳建筑师们认为“现代形式必须与时代生活的新要求相协调”，他们的作品都带有简洁明快的现代感。他们的理论和实践不仅始创了奥地利20世纪的新建筑，而且对现代家具的形成具有深刻的影响。（五）德意志制造联盟：这是一个由德国建筑师沐迪修斯倡议的。于1907年10月在慕尼黑成立的协会。成员有艺术家、设计师、评论家和制造厂商等。沐迪修斯曾到过伦敦，因而受到莫里斯公司及“工艺美术运动”的深刻影响。他主张“协会的目标在于创造性地把艺术、工艺和工业化事例在一起，并以此来扩大其在工业化生产中的作用”。“德意志制造联盟”的实践活动在欧洲引起了相当大的反响，并导致了1910年奥地利工作联盟、1913年瑞士制造联盟和1915年英国工业设计协会的先后成立。“德意志制造联盟”曾于1937年被纳粹分子关闭，1947年重新恢复活动。（六）前期现代家具的著名设计师及其作品
