I卷

A

由题干中的“February”可将答案锁定在“February 6th”的话题“An Update on the Costwold Canals”中。

再结合“I was planning to have dinner that very night.”

由“…with an exhibition bring together over 200 paintings, sculptures, drawings and more.”

2 A。 根据第一段“…the visitors will find the best pieces, most importantly the Persistence of Memory”可知,该作品在Dali的最佳作品中是最重要的,由此可以推断它是Dali的杰作之一。

30. D。 根据第二段末句中的“…follows a path of time and subject.”

3 A。 由第二段“Over the years, Parisian cafes have fallen victim to changes in the French lifestyle…”

E项中的they与前句中的people相对应,且与下句“It’s understandable.”

3 A。 其中“Having confidence in yourself”与A项中的trust yourself意义相近。

下一段“When I handed him the gift card…”

根据前面“I thought about it.”以及接下来的“but…well, …”

联系上文“They got apples, a sandwich, and a bottle of juice.”

根据本段结尾一句中的“…he burst into tears.”

5 C。考查语境中副词的辨析。句意如果我当时告诉孩子们没有钱去帮助更多的人,事情可能会完全不同,他们可能就不会有这样的举动。suddenly突然;vividly生动地;

6 arrived.

6 before/earlier.

6 its.

6 that/ which. 先行词为指物的mountain tops and dark waters,关系词在从句中作主语,因此答案为that/ which。

6 paintings.

6 by.

6 is.

6 conducted. 此外,by是解题的关键词,conducted by…

6 regularly.

70. living.

第3句in∧the country。 in the countryside (在乡村)为固定短语。

第4句or→and。

第5句on→with。 with the development of…

第8句Much→Many。

第9句found→find。

10. 第9句your→our。

BThe freezing Northeast hasn’t been a terribly fun place to spend time this winter, so when the chance came for a weekend to Sarasota, Florida, my bags were packed before you could say “sunshine”. I left for the land of warmth and vitamin C(维生素 C), thinking of beaches and orange trees. When we touched down to blue skies and warm air, I sent up a small prayer of gratefulness. Swimming pools, wine tasting, and pink sunsets (at normal evening hours, not 4 in the afternoon) filled the weekend, but the best part- particularly to my taste, dulled by months of cold- weather root vegetables- was a 7 a.m. adventure to the Sarasota farmers’market that proved to be more than worth the early wake-up call. The market, which was founded in 1979, sets up its tents every Saturday from 7:00 am to 1 p.m, rain or shine, along North Lemon and State streets. Baskets of perfect red strawberries, the red-painted sides of the Java Dawg coffee truck; and most of all, the tomatoes: amazing, large, soft

and round red tomatoes.Disappointed by many a broken, vine-ripened(蔓上成熟的) promise, I’ve refused to buy winter tomatoes for years. No matter how attractive they look in the store, once I get them home they’re unfailingly dry, hard, and tasteless. But I homed in, with uncertainty, on one particular table at the Brown’s Grove Farm’s stand, full of fresh and soft tomatoes the size of my fist. These were the real deal- and at that moment, I realized that the best part of Sarasota in winter was going to be eating things that back home in New York I wouldn’t be experiencing again for months.Delighted as I was by the tomatoes in sight, my happiness deepened when I learned that Brown’sGrove Farm is one of the suppliers for Jack Dusty, a newly opened restaurant at the Sarasota Ritz Carlton, where- luckily for me- I was planning to have dinner that very night. Without even seeing the menu, I knew I’d be ordering every tomato on it.2 What did the author think of her winter life in New YorkA. Exciting. B. Boring. C. Relaxing. D. Annoying.2 What made the author’s getting up late early worthwhileA. Having a swim.B. Breathing in fresh air.C. Walking in the morning sun.D. Visiting a local farmer’s market.2 What can we learn about tomatoes sold in New York in winterA. They are soft.B. They look nice.C. They taste great.D. They are juicy.2 What was the author going to that eveningA. Go to a farm.B. Check into a hotel.C. Eat in a restaurant.D. Buy fresh vegetables.CSalvador Dali (1904-1989) was one of the most popular of modern artists. The Pompidou Centre in Paris is showing its respect and admiration for the artist and his powerful personality with an exhibition bringing together over 200 paintings, sculptures, drawings and more. Among the works and masterworks on exhibition the visitor will find the best pieces, most importantly the Persistence of Memory. There is also L’Enigme sans Fin from 1938, works on paper, objects, and projects for stage and screen and selected parts fromtelevision programmes reflecting the artist’s showman qualities. The visitor will enter the World of Dali through an egg and is met with the beginning, the world of birth. The exhibition follows a path of time and subject with the visitor exiting through the brain. The exhibition shows how Dali draws the viewer between two infinities (无限). “From the infinity small to the infinity large, contraction and expansion coming in and out of focus: amazing Flemish accuracy and the showy Baroque of old painting that he used in his museum-theatre in Figueras,”explains the Pompidou Centre. The fine selection of the major works was done in close collaboration (合作)with the Museo Nacional Reina Sofia in Madrid, Spain, and with contributions from other institutions like the Salvador Dali Museum in St. Petersburg.2 Which of the following best describe Dali according to Paragraph 1A. Optimistic. B. Productive C. Generous. D. Traditional.2 What is Dali’s The Persistence of Memory considered to be A. One of his masterworks. B. A successful screen adaptation. C. An artistic creation for the stage. D. One of the beat TV programmes.30. How are the exhibits arranged at the World of DaliA. By popularity.B. By importance.C. By size and shape.D. By time and subject.3 What does the word “contributions” in the last paragraph refer to A. Artworks. B. Projects. C. Donations. D. Documents.

Everybody can buy takeaway food, but sometimes we’re not aware how cheaply we can make this food ourselves.” The eight-part series (系列节目), Save Money: Good Food, follows in the footsteps of ITV’s Save Money: Good Health, which gave viewers advice on how to get value from the vast range of health products on the market. With food our biggest weekly household expense, Susanna and Matt spend time with a different family each week. In tonight’s Easter special they come to the aid of a family in need of some delicious inspiration on a budget. Cooking Well for Less C Languages have been coming and going for thousands of years, but in recent times there has been less coming and a lot more going. When the world was still populated by hunter-gatherers, small, tightly knit (联系) groups developed their own patterns of speech independent of each other. Some language experts believe that 10,000 years ago, when the world had just five to ten million people, they spoke perhaps 12,000 languages between them. Soon afterwards, many of those people started settling down to become farmers, and their languages too became more settled and fewer in number. In recent centuries, trade, industrialisation, the development of the nation-state and the spread of universal compulsory education, especially globalisation and better communications in the past few decades, all have caused many languages to disappear, and dominant languages such as English, Spanish and Chinese are increasingly taking over. At present, the world has about 6,800 languages. The distribution of these languages is hugely uneven. The general rule is that mild zones have relatively few languages, often spoken by many people, while hot, wet zones have lots, often spoken by small numbers. Europe has only around 200 languages; the Americas about 1,000; Africa 2,400; and Asia and the Pacific perhaps 3,200, of which Papua New Guinea alone accounts for well over 800. The median number (中位数) of speakers is a mere 6,000, which means that half the world’s languages are spoken by fewer people than that. Already well over 400 of the total of 6,800 languages are close to extinction (消亡), with only a few elderly speakers left. Pick, at random, Busuu in Cameroon (eight remaining speakers), Chiapaneco in Mexico (150), Lipan Apache in the United States (two or three) or Wadjigu in Australia (one, with a question-mark): none of these seems to have much chance of survival. 28. What can we infer about languages in hunter-gatherer times? A. They developed very fast. B. They were large in number.
