Yuanmingyuan, “Garden of all gardens”, was burnt and fell into ruins in 1860． Recently my classmates had a discussion about whether it should be rebuilt or not.

Supporters of rebuilding the garden say only by doing so can we see the original sight of the garden, which reflects the Chinese civilization. And it will be another place of interest for tourists. If partly rebuilt, it will provide a comparison and help us remember the history.

Those who disagree think it more reasonable to keep the garden like this. The ruins will remind us of the past. We should never forget the history. Last month in Paris, a French company auctioned two bronze sculptures ---- a rat’s head and a rabbits head captured from China, which has aroused great public concern in China.

As is known to all, the two bronze animal heads were made during the Qing Dynasty to decorate Yuanmingyuan. In 1860, the British and French troops broke into Beijing and burned down the royal garden, taking away millions of Chinese art works, including the two head relics.

The Ministry of Education has been collecting opinions on the possibility and feasibility of ending the separation of science and arts in high schools. But opinions are different.

Most experts advocate the ending of the division of science and arts. They indicate that the separation of subjects strongly affects the overall quality of our people. It will result in some art students' lacking the spirit of exploring science and some science students' not caring about important issues like society and human beings.

However, many students and parents oppose this opinion, saying that canceling the separation of subjects means putting more pressure and burdens on students, while focusing on fewer courses enables students to excel in specific areas. Furthermore, each student has his or her strengths and weaknesses, which needs to be respected.

To make the experience still more embarrassing, the team provided negative feedback through headphones, all the while checking participants for indications of stress, such as high blood pressure. The city people's general mental health did not differ from that of the rural countrymen. However, their brains dealt with the stress caused by the experimenters in different ways. These differences were noticeable in two regions: the amygdalas (杏仁核) and the perigenual anterior cingulate cortex (前扣带皮层，简称pACC)．People living in the countryside had the lowest levels of activity in their amygdalas. Those living in towns had higher levels. City dwellers had the highest. In the case of the pACC, however, what mattered was not where someone was living now, but where he or she was brought up.
