1. mind 意为〝介意〞。
mind doing sth. 介意做某事。例如：

2. remind 意为〝提醒〞。

5. other than 意为〝除了〞，例如：

6. forget to do sth. 意为〝忘了去做某事〔该事还没做〕〞，例如：
I’m sorry. I forgot to power off my cellphone before the exam.
抱歉我忘了在考试前关闭手机了。(关手机这件事没做)
forget doing sth. 忘记做了某事〔该事已经做了〕，例如：
I forgot locking the door. 我忘记我已经锁了门了。(锁门这件事已经做过)
7. find out 意为〝查明，弄清楚〞。
常见的用法有find out + who/what/how etc; find out sth; find out that从句。例如：
He hurried off to find out what the problem was . 他匆忙走了是为了去弄清问题到底是什么。
We never found out her real name. 我们从没弄清她的真名是什么。
I found out that she didn’t get on well with her classmates. 我发现她和同学相处得不好。
8. as soon as意为〝一…就...〞，用来引导时间状语从句。主句为将来时，从句用一般现在时〔主将从现〕；假设主句为过去时，从句用过去时或过去完成时。例如：
I will tell him the news as soon as I see him. 我一见到他就会
告诉他这个消息。
9. on one’s way to意为〝在去...的路上〞，例如：

Owning Books
We enjoy reading books that belong to us much more than if they a re borrowed. A borrowed book is like a guest in the house; it must be tr eated with punctiliousness, with enough careful attention. You must see th at it keeps no dirty or destroyed pages.
But books are for use, not for show; you should own no book t hat you are afraid to mark up, or afraid to place on the table, wide open and face down. Everyone should begin collecting a private library in youth; this habit can here be developed with every advantage.
