A farmer had a cow. He took very good care of this cow and one day when it was ill, he was very worried. He telephoned the vet.

“What’s the problem” The vet asked him when he arrived.

“My cow’s ill,” the farmer said. “I don’t know what's the matter with her. She’s lying down and won’t eat. She’s making a strange noise.”

The vet looked over the cow. "She’s certainly ill," he said, "a nd she needs to take some very strong medicine."

He took a bottle out of his box, put two pills into his hand and said, "Give her these. The pills should make her better."

“How should I give them to her” the farmer asked.

Several years ago, a television reporter was talking to three of the most important people in America. One was a very rich banker, another owned one of the largest companies in the world, and the third owned many buildings in the center of New York.

The reporter was talking to them about being important.

Ellen Parker was worried about her health. She could not walk very quickly and it was difficult for her to climb stairs. She was soon out of breath (气喘吁吁).

One rainy Saturday afternoon, Nancy and Smith were

wondering what to do, when suddenly Smith had an idea.

“I know,”he said enthusiastically,“I'll take you to a place my father used to take me to when I was a boy. No, don't ask questions; just get your umbrella and get into the car.”

Half an hour later they stopped outside a large building and

“Oh, it's the waxworks exhibition. Do you know, I've never been here before”

And Smith said,“Oh, we used to come here often when I

was little. There used to be a lot of famous people inside, all

made of wax, but I suppose they've changed most of them

now.”

While Smith was buying the tickets at the pay-desk, Nancy

looked round.

“Did your mother use to come too”she asked.

“Not very often.”Smith told her.“She used to stay at home

and look after babies. Come on, up these stairs.”

At the top of the stairs stood an attendant, holding some

catalogues. Nancy went up to her, opening her handbag,

while Smith watched her.

“How much are the catalogues, please”Nancy asked; but the girl didn't answer. And she didn't realize that she had been talking to a waxwork until she heard Smith laughing behind her.

培养初中生的英语阅读能力 发表时间:2011-04-12T11:30:43.120Z 来源:《中学课程辅导·教学研究》2011年第8期供稿作者:魏瑜 [导读] 阅读作为获取语言文化知识、了解外部信息、提高语言能力的重要手段,是中学英语教学的侧重点。 摘要:探索英语阅读教学方法,培养学生阅读能力已成为英语教师共同关注和研究的课题。本文阐述了培养初中生英语阅读能力的重要性,并介绍了培养学生英语阅读能力的方法。 关键词:阅读兴趣;阅读技巧;阅读能力 作者简介:魏瑜,任教于江西省石城二中。 阅读作为获取语言文化知识、了解外部信息、提高语言能力的重要手段,是中学英语教学的侧重点。英语的阅读以能力为主,涉及学生的理解、综合和分析解决问题的能力。近年来,阅读更注重对技能和能力的考查,选材也更广泛,内容更丰富,与学生生活实际相联系。因此,探索培养学生英语阅读能力,提高学生阅读效率成为英语教师共同关注和研究的课题。 一、英语阅读能力的分析 阅读是一个积极主动地思考理解和接受信息的过程,也是一种复杂的智力活动。从表面看是读者感知书面文字理解文字所表达的内容,实际上它是作者与读者双方的语言交际活动,是一个读者实现心理满足的复杂的心理逻辑推理过程。在这过程中所表现出来的能力,被称为“阅读能力”。 二、培养初中生英语阅读能力的重要性 阅读能力是一种领会理解能力,是学生吸取知识,积累词汇,熟悉英语表达习惯的重要途径。阅读能力是英语四会能力中最基本最重要的能力之一。阅读不仅能帮助学生获取信息,开阔视野,吸收丰富的知识,了解英语国家的历史、地理、科技、社会文化、风土人情等,提高学生的学习兴趣,还能扩大词汇量,促进听、说、写的能力的发展。同时还能培养学生的思维能力、分析能力和理解能力,有效地提高学生运用语言的能力,为他们的终身学习和发展打下坚实的基础。新课标中明确提出要培养学生的观察、记忆、思维、想象能力和创新精神,帮助学生了解世界和中西方文化的差异,拓展视野,形成一定的综合语言运用能力。 既然阅读这么重要,那么我们就应该重视培养阅读能力,掌握提高阅读效率的方法就显得尤为重要了。笔者在本文中就个人的教学体会,谈谈提高初中生英语阅读能力的方法。 三、培养英语阅读能力的方法 1.培养英语阅读兴趣 兴趣就是动力。正如心理学家皮亚杰所说:“兴趣是能量的调节者,它的加入便产生了储存内心的力量。”对于阅读,学生也应该有一种浓厚的兴趣。那么,教师如何培养学生的阅读兴趣呢?笔者认为教师在培养学生的阅读能力的过程中,要根据“循序渐进、逐步提高”的原则来编选阅读材料。对于初中生,教师可以在平时收集一些幽默、笑话、谜语、谚语、成语小故事,加以精选改编。学生在饶有兴趣的阅读过程中,既不知不觉扩大了词汇量,获取了各方面的知识,又在阅读过程中体验到快乐。真正地让他们认识到阅读并非空洞乏味的活动,而是一种既可增长知识、又能令人愉快的活动。也真正做到了“为学所乐”,使学生自觉地克服阅读过程中产生的不良心理因素,从而以旺盛的精力、饱满的热情、进取的精神投入到阅读活动中去。 2.扩展英语文化背景知识 语言是文化的载体,语言与文化密切相关。如果学生缺乏一定的文化背景知识,即使能认识每一个单词,懂得每一个句子,也不一定能正确理解文章的含义。教师在教学中,一定要详细介绍教材中的有关社会文化背景的知识,让学生在一定的文化背景知识下理解课文。 3.训练英语阅读技巧 文章是由句子和段落组成的,句子与句子、段落与段落之间是彼此联系的。 在英语阅读教学中,教师要有意识地向学生传授阅读方法,训练阅读技能,培养学生自觉调整阅读速度和阅读方法的能力。阅读时眼中有词,心中揣意,把握命题原则——“大小猜判”(大—— 考察大意;小——细节辨别;猜——字词句意;判—— 推理判断)。教师要提高学生的阅读水平,就要分别用不用的方法来训练他们的阅读技巧,使学生形成良好的阅读习惯,提高阅读理解能力。主要阅读技巧有: (1)略读:通过整体粗读,领略内容大意,帮助理解,为细读作准备。在进行阅读课教学时要有意识地培养学生找出主题句,抓住中心,使学生理解主题句与文章的具体事实细节的关系,没有主题句的段落就引导学生依靠段落中的衔接、句际关系来分析、推断和概括段落的大意,从而达到整体理解的目的,获得文章表达的正确的信息。 (2)跳读:寻找所需信息,如年代、数字、人名、地名等把握住关键词,利用语法过渡词,语气转折词及时态等,抓住文章脉络。 (3)细读:分段细读,注意细节,注意语言结构,处理语言点,抓住主要事实,关键信息,揭示文章结构的内在联系,帮助深化理解。一篇文章是一个有机的整体,段落与段落之间存在着内在的紧密联系,而每段的内容都与主题有着很重要的联系,所以弄清文章结构上的问题,对于把握文章主题、文章大意非常重要。 (4)推读:推测未直接写明的含义、因果关系以及词义猜测,对学生在自学过程中遇到的新的单词、表达法或语法。引导学生学会根据上下文进行猜测,这样既提高了阅读速度又形成了一种能力,这也是英语阅读的关键所在。培养学生猜词的能力是我们在外语教学中十分重要而有意义的一个环节,但是若遇到了关键的词句且影响对文章的理解,则要提倡学生使用手中的工具书,自行查阅解决学习中遇到的困难。 (5)概读:要求学生从每篇标题,到各个部分都进行概读、以归纳出要点, 概括作者的主旨、意图、观点、态度,这样就能了解全文的概貌。概读还有助于学生把握上下文之间的意义联系,培养学生的综合概括能力,提高英语阅读的有效性。 4.培养阅读能力,形成良好阅读习惯 阅读是一个认知的过程,不同的人有不同的阅读方式。有的学生喜欢逐字逐句地读,有的喜欢一目十行地读,有的喜欢反复上下阅读。这些阅读方式都是影响学生阅读效果与水平提高的原因,因此,在英语阅读教学中教师应培养学生以下四种能力,以形成良好的阅读习惯。 (1)培养学生限时阅读的能力。限定阅读时间,进行限时阅读训练。限时阅读是训练速度的有效方法,让学生在规定的时间内读完材

初中英语阅读理解的解题技巧 上传: 赖芙蓉更新时间:2013-1-18 16:34:02 初中英语阅读理解的解题技巧 阅读能力在英语教学中占有重要地位,阅读能力的培养成为英语教学的重中之重。英语阅读教学的主要目的是教给学生正确的阅读方法、阅读技巧、培养学生的阅读能力。为继续学习英语和运用英语切实打好基础。《英语新课程标准》明确规定:初中英语教学要侧重培养学生的阅读能力。阅读是吸收英语语言材料、增加语言知识、扩大词汇量的重要手段,而且阅读能力的提高能为英语口语交际能力和英语写作能力打下良好的基础,也为学生从英语阅读中认识学习英语的真正意义和价值,体验学习英语的乐趣,为学生树立学好英语的自信心打下坚实的基础。综观历年的考试题型,阅读理解都是重头戏,在各级各类考试中都占有很大的比值。 一、要注意养成良好的阅读心理,阅读时要去掉杂念,心绪要安定,精神要专一,要形成一种惬意的顺向心理。切不可一遇到几个生词难句,就心烦意乱,失去自控能力。心理学家告诉我们,任何恐慌,过分紧张的情绪都会形成一种消极因素妨碍大脑的正常思维功能。因此,遇到困难一定要从容不迫,心无旁骛。这样才能对所读的文章印象清晰,理解深刻。 二、要提高视读的速度,考阅读理解,从另一个方面来说,考的是考试速度。因此做阅读理解时,要注意培养自己快速阅读的习惯。切不可在个别难懂的词句上磨蹭,只要全篇理解了,个别难懂的词句可以根据上下文和构词法去猜测,去推断。

三、对文章的评价分析,一定要坚持“词不离句,句不离篇”,要理解文章作者的原意,而不能按你自己的意愿去想当然。切记:一想当然,就会出错。 1.审视标题,抓住中心 试题中有的文章有标题,有的没有,拟题人是有所考虑的。标题是文章主题的高度凝聚。它能给我们启发和想象,想象文章的内容和走向。这样做有利于对文章的理解,能提高做题的效率。 2.浏览全文,掌握全貌 如果时间紧,至少要快速通读全文,尤其是首两段。再把标题和文章内容结合起来,这样全文的梗概便一目了然了。 3.细读题目,抓住要点 对整篇短文内容有了一定的了解后,要马上看短文后的问题,带着问题去选择或判断答案。要确定所需查找的信息范围,并注意所查找信息的特点。例如:如果问题或选项涉及到人名、地名,就应该找首字母大写的单词;如果问题或选项涉及时间、日期、数字,就应该寻找具体的数据。另外还要注意试题难易,应暂时绕开那些少数较难的题目,先做最有把握、最熟悉的题目,也就是该类题可以直接或间接从文章中找到的。而对于那些要通过对文章归纳判断、逻辑推理的题目,需要再对全文快速阅读,仔细分析思考,反复比较、推敲选出正确答案。若文章短可先读短文,后看文后题目;如果文章太长,你可以先把文章后面的问题看一遍,带着问题去看文章。这样可以帮助你去掉杂念,提高阅读速度和解题的正确性。要善于找关键句,特别

诺贝尔的故事 Alfred Nobel, the great Swedish inventor and industrialist, was born in Stockholm on October 21, 1833, but moved to Russia with his parents in 1842, where his father, Immanuel, made a strong position for himself in the engineering industry. 浅论提升初中生英语阅读水平的方法 我国义务教育《英语大纲》规定:按照语言学习规律,学生必须吸收相当数量的语言材料和经过一定量的语言实践,才能获得为交际使用英语的水平。所以,英语教学必须增加语言实践的量,使学生获得充分的语言实践机会。阅读是我国学生接触外语信息、参与外语实践的重要途径,因而提升阅读水平是培养语言综合使用水平的重要方式。阅读水平是英语“四会”水平中最基本、最重要的水平之一,培养阅读水平有助于扩大词汇量、丰富语言知识、提升语言的使用水平,是大面积提升中学英语教学质量的关键。 但在教学实践中,绝大部分学生害怕做阅读题,考试在阅读上减分也比较多,阅读水平弱。如何提升学生的英语阅读水平呢?我在十几年的英语教学中实行了以下尝试: 一、狠抓教材中阅读材料的语言积累和巩固,打好基础 在外语教学过程中,首先应该培养的水平是理解,即听力理解和阅读理解。听和阅读都是在往大脑中输入信息。外语学习过程中语言输入的量一定要大大多于输出的量,这样才能为表达思想的说和写的环节打下好基础。语言积累就成了关键,教师要重视学生对所学语言素材的有意识积累,最主要的是使学生积累一些对今后的学习最有用的语言素材。对学生教材里每单元的阅读文章我都非常重视,坚持让学生对课本语言材料理解、记忆和复习,并实行检查。因为语言材料的输入和巩固过程是一个反复刺激、持续加深印象的过程。

听得多,读得多,学生不但巩固了词法、句法和语法,而且阅读课外文章时能看懂了,促动了阅读理解水平水平的持续提升,这就达到了教者的最终目的。 二、采用任务型教学与阅读理解相结合的教学模式,设计有意义的语言实践活动,有助于学生更好地理解阅读材料 阅读是学生的有效学习过程,不是教师的自我表演,这是上好阅读课的基本标准。也就是说学生要有实实在在的学习。 在课堂上授课时教师的讲话最好不要超过20分钟,因为课堂是学生锻炼自己的地方,要多实践,让学生成为学习知识的主体,教师则起到引导的作用。 三、有计划地对学生实行科学、系统的课外阅读训练,扩大英语知识面,增加对英、美国家文化背景知识的了解 1、精心选材,引导学生留心积累各方面的知识。 阅读理解是中考测试中比重最大的题型。阅读文章题材多样,涉及政治、经济、社会文化、风俗习惯、历史地理、科学技术等各个方面;体裁形式丰富,包括记叙文、说明文、议论文、应用文以及新闻报道、广告、通知、操作说明、表格等。这就需要考生在平时对各个方面的知识都有所积累,广泛阅读,以适合中考的需要。为协助学生,我备课时会充分利用英文报刊杂志、网络媒体搜集文章,选择的材料富有时代感。我认为英语学习中的阅读材料应使学生感到有一定的难度,但不可让学生感到太难,一点都看不懂或绝大部分看不懂,这样就打消了学生学习的积极性,反而不利于学生的发展。
